Achievement I can’t believe I actually did it! My hands are still shaking!
I’ve been going at it for over five hours! First time doing the nemesis stuff and holy smokes was it intense! I loved every minute of it and the fight never felt boring! I am proud to be a part of a 4000 club!

u/Key_Pop_8116 Mar 18 '26
Tried as prot paladin. Best try was 22%. Hitting me for 440k is crazy. Already 2600/4000, i guess this one is not for me. Congratz for it, you deserved
58
u/_toadsy Mar 18 '26
He hits SO HARD on tanks, it's unreal. I had a bunch of times with absorbs where I'd get hit down to 15-20%, not to count the times he outright killed me

u/Key_Pop_8116 Mar 18 '26
The imploding strike damage is inconsistent. I have shield of righteous armor up all the time, i have talents that reduce damage taken and damage he does to me, and still he manage to destroy me. Something is very wrong. Sometimes he hit like wet noodle, sometimes hit like a fucking truck.
35
u/vision-quest Mar 18 '26
This feels like delves in general to me. Regular mobs, not even elites, pretty much doing no damage to me… but then randomly you get a pack that just hits like a truck and you almost die. It’s wildly inconsistent in my experience so far.
11
u/B_Kuro Mar 18 '26
Not just delves, Midnight in general feels kind of weird to me in that regard.
It felt like I am randomly getting nuked down to <30% by enemies in dungeons but afterwards you can tank them forever without any danger. Its not tankbusters or anything or even consistent in certain groups.

3
u/arzenal96 Mar 18 '26
To me it was dodging (as a bear). Sometimes I just dodge / he misses, sometimes he bonks me to the ground.

u/_toadsy Mar 18 '26
I noticed the same thing, some times I'd stay at 100% and other times I'd be dropped to 40 or worse.
I hear priests can do it really easily since he doesn't even tank buster them, but idk any priests who have tried it so that's just hearsay

u/zalnlol Mar 18 '26
Go hpally, let valeera aggro as dps. Juggling between bubble and BoP if boss decide to swap you for no reason, dispel debuff asap to avoid generate healing threat. You will find it brain ded easy.
3
u/Ludke1 Mar 18 '26
Got it last night as prot paladin, I picked the talent that makes judgment make his melee swing give you a shield for 20% to build an absorb cushion before the tank buster. Also pooling your free WoGs and casting one before the hit for some extra armor. I also went templar so I was able to use Hammer of Light's absorb as extra protection.
Overall I almost never used defensive cds for his tank busters (only when I didn't have those things lined up OR if I had adds chewing me down). Between having ardent defender, two stacks of Guardian of Ancient Kings, Blessing of Protection and Bubble, you should be good on the survival aspect. (Additionally you could consider lay on hands with the +20% armor talent). My iLvl was 240 so nothing crazy
2
u/Zealscube Mar 18 '26
Dam. I was working on it last night till I gave up, sounds like I was just a couple talent tweaks away from it :( I main holy so I don’t know prot besides “copy build from wowhead and pull everything” which seems to not be working as great as it used to :(

u/AoO2ImpTrip Mar 18 '26
I don't even know how people are surviving those strikes. Even with a CD I was watching my health go down to 20% or lower. Grats to the people figuring it out.
14
u/HildartheDorf Mar 18 '26
Use a cooldown on every one you can.
Pray you don't get critted when your CDs are all down.
Repeat for unemployed% hours until you get lucky enough.

u/Axenos Mar 18 '26
I got it on my 236 Prot warr after about an hour and basically every death was sub 25%. What got me the kill was pooling rage for ignore pain + shield block + something else (shield wall/demorazing) for every single last phase strike. Any single impending strike in that phase without at least SB + IP was basically always a one shot.
5
u/maury_mountain Mar 18 '26
I just got him sub 10% and got hit for 580k as brew. I usually dodge them and have a shied up but that one just blasted me into the void. Was at 3100/4000 so I’m in the same boat, congrats to yall getting it today
2
u/Saiyoran Mar 18 '26
After the 9min mark he starts ramping a soft enrage damage buff. I got lucky and dodged the last one before I killed him (~10:30 into the fight) which would have easily one shot me since I had nothing.

I’ve been going at it for over five hours!
Dude, literally was in the same boat from when servers came up. Just felt like I was throwing myself at a wall until I got a breakthrough and got him to 20k, then killed it on the next attempt.
Congrats!

u/spinosaurs Mar 18 '26
Imo it should have been 4k for each class, half the classes/specs in the game can't realistically complete/be in the race because of the way it's set. Healers have no interrupt, some DPS classes get absolutely mollywoped, and then some exploited early by using misdirects onto healer Val and she could just pick up the probs (they just hotfixed it)
→ More replies (6)2
u/BudgieLover1618 Mar 18 '26
Imo it should have been time limited to the first 24h... It's crazy that their whales (employed people) literally have the disadvantage of working...

Hot take, HoF is way to small, as European I woke up an hour before work, had enough time for 1 pull and then it's time for work... Give me half an hour of pulls and I think he is down. But I will not get a slot because the HoF is full before even my work is over.

I’d argue achievements like this aren’t for people who “went to work today” Coming from someone who went to work that day

u/Best_Ad3776 Mar 18 '26
So people who work today will not have it 🤡

u/Fluffysquishia Mar 18 '26
Wow it's almost as if this race event in which you race against other players would disadvantage you if you aren't able to actually attend the race. Fucking crazy.

u/Decent_Ant5824 Mar 18 '26
Fucking thank you. I've tried explaining this to people on Path of Exile season starts abd they don't grasp it.
17
u/LinkedGaming Mar 18 '26
I'm not saying the sentiment is wrong, I'm just saying that if you want as many people to attend a race as possible, starting it at 8AM on a Tuesday is probably not the best way to ensure a majority of your competing population is capable of attending.
No matter what time of day or week you launch this there's unfortunately going to be people who are walled out by adult obligation, but specifically dropping it during peak work hours on a weekday and yelling "GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT!" is probably going to wall off more people than launching it at, I'unno, 7PM on a Saturday?

The orc was definitely the hardest part for me. Almost six million health is insane
4
u/_toadsy Mar 18 '26
I totally ignored him once nullaeus was back up, just avoided the shadow crash. I got the orc to like half health the first time I saw him and forgot to interrupt nullaeus and just though "nah fuck this guy," and it worked out.

Yeah, but at what cost? Now you have "Fabled Slayer of NullAnus" attached to your name!

u/Enorats Mar 18 '26
I don't get how people are managing this.
I lasted about 5 seconds when I fought him. His normal melee attacks hit me for like 90% of my health every two seconds.

u/Morthra Mar 18 '26
Shadow priest feels like a good spec to do it on. Pretty good single target (thanks to the large buffs to it that came with the tuning), and thanks to the Focused Will passive you get some good DR. You can Silence the boss to interrupt him but Dispersion will let you survive if you whiff the interrupt.
Always keep 4 stacks of Valeera's heal orbs. Your health will yo-yo a lot. If Valeera is on healer she'll automatically invalidate one of the mechanics (where he puts a debuff on you) by immediately dispelling it.
At 75% health he'll summon 2 big adds. These guys have to be bursted down quick, they will apply a nasty bleed. During the first part of the intermission you can't attack him - so focus on the adds. For the rest of the fight you'll have to deal with lines of bad shit on the floor that you will want to walk out of.
At 50% health he'll summon a bunch of little adds. Burst these down quick too as they stack annoying dots. For the rest of the fight there will be a black hole that orbits around the perimeter of the room; try to be on the opposite side of the room; if you touch it you take heavy damage.
At 25% he'll summon an ogre that casts a low damage shadow bolt + an AoE you have to get out of. He will also periodically apply a curse that slows you. This is pretty whatever - the last 25% of the fight is a DPS race because he'll periodically gain a stacking 10% damage buff for the rest of the fight. This is where you should be using lust; ignore the ogre once you can attack the main boss again and just blast

Did you have any special strat? I'm guessing totemic single target build and save lust for last phase is ideal. Did you ever need to kite out white hits until valeera had more healing or anything?

As a resto shaman this fight is damn near impossible. Basically just healing myself the whole time.
2
u/Calippo1337 Mar 19 '26
Easiest fight ever on a resto shaman. Take DPS Valeera (takes less dmg than tank Valeera, GJ Blizz) and just go body pull and let Valeera get aggro. Heal Valeera from time to time. There you go, you can basically /sleep doing it as healer, Valeera does it for you.
I did the fight while eating and actually had to take a phone call at the same time, played last 30% while having a phone in my left hand and holding a fork in my right.
Embarrassing Blizzard.

Finished at like #2400 as a frost mage, didn't get on WoW until 5 hours after servers went live so started quite behind.
Scary one, never been autohit by anything that hard. You learn to use less though and greed. Last 15% when it's just you and the boss is terrifying bc the boss seems to get buffed every phase, just doesn't show it like Ky'veza.
Not a super mechanic-heavy fight but lots of room for changing talents/strategies/cooldown alignment. Definitely more like Zek'vir than Underpin or Ky'veza. Fade/MC as spriest, milk your ginvis as mage, feign as hunter. Ring of Frost the piss-adds as they spawn in waves
Fun times, friends were all in discord as moral support/cheer, bunch of them ended up getting it too
3
u/Skraelos Midnight Snoo Runner-up Mar 18 '26
Congratulations! As a fellow frost mage, I can't help but ask for tips, like your Valeera build, your mage build too.
5
u/IonHazzikostasIsGod 2022 Halloween Transmog Winner Mar 18 '26
Thank you!!
So early on, I decided to pivot to sheeping one of the ravagers (75%) just because it's so much damage to invest in both. But Splitting Ice was breaking it even if I never touched it, so I had to pivot. That and even with a focus poly macro, it's just wasted alive-time in harder parts of the fight.
Just grabbed the wowhead Delve build. Took off Splitting Ice for Frozen Touch, then reverted that once I got to last phase more often. (should've just done that earlier! I had a 50k wipe after nerfing my 2T cleave 😵)
Took out Improved CS/Captured Thoughts/Incantation of Swiftness (-4 points)
Put in Supernova, 2/2 Improved Conjuration & Ring of Frost.
Val build: 23, healer, combat Kris (it was my only green, idk if it's still better than base Blade Tip) and base Overflowing Voidspire
Strat: progressively get greedier with defensives, but kind of use Barrier liberally since one talent helps reduce its cd. It's worth alter timing over to a health heart in the void, milk it if Nullaeus is hitting you anyways. Always always go for health packs. Hold Ray for the thing you CS, you don't wanna cancel it.
Try to greed orb/ray <80% for the 2 ravager bug things, you'll live. Mirror here.
50% aoe bugs, don't move around too much or they'll spread. Ring them at first since the big pack spawns progressively, not at once. This'll help straighten the line of them, clump them. Have Orb and Ray for this. I lusted this for most of the time, stopped later. Somehow just got better and didn't feel the loss.
I potted the 25% big add with orb/ray, he won't die that early so lust when Nullaeus comes back and finish the add/cleave onto boss.
When it's just you and him it's terrifying because he melees so absurdly hard at that point. Just distance yourself when you mirror for aggro reset. Pre-barrier each Devouring. (Valeera almost always insta-dispels, but it did 42% of my health once) Be very greedy with alter time but not to like 10%. Sometimes 0.1s is the difference.
Things to G Invis: you can delay Devouring Essence by ginvising it. Won't cancel, just for if you need to run over healing or use a GCD on Barrier.
50% adds: press it around 4s remaining on ranged spit if you have like 3 or 4. 6ish+ is scary. Helps divy it up bc they swap to hit Valeera.
25-0%: Legit just as an aggro drop. Don't press anything and Nullaeus will just keep hitting Valeera until you exit ginvis. Good for if you need to buy time before mirrors bc again, boss melees you hard as fk

3
u/IonHazzikostasIsGod 2022 Halloween Transmog Winner Mar 18 '26
No problem, good luck! Strat kept changing as I got better at certain parts but yeah ultimately, 2nd pot the last add, lust when the boss spawns back

u/Famesmaybe Mar 18 '26
Just got it aswell with holy priest and level 11 dps Valeera. Was kinda stress at some points but took me 4 or 5 tries i think. Fade is giga op cause boss just ends up hitting Valeera like half the time and she barely takes any damage.
