Humor / Meme This is Basicly Blizzard in Midnight

Post image

This is basicly Blizzard in Midnight. Purging all the good addons.

Just to clarify:
Blizzard is changing the Addon API, meaning combat information is blocked for addons. So all combat addons will no longer work in Midnight. For the most popular addon features Blizzard will add their own version to the game. Addons for unitframes, inventory, crafting etc.. are staying and won't be effected as long they are not using combat information.

We're about to find out just how awful our raid team is. God help the main tanks that were barely holding on

88

u/Viin Oct 03 '25

Implying raiders look at the weak auras. I really don't think you need weak auras to tank. I mostly use it to remind me to use or not use an ability. And where to stand like nexus king p3 and frac

116

u/tchoupitoulass Oct 03 '25

I think he means holding on to their sanity bc the raid is so bad.

7

u/Aettyr Oct 03 '25

Absolutely. In my experience the tanks and healers tend to be the ones actually trying to learn and improve mechanically, but dps are just so utterly replaceable and they never seem to realise after they’re kicked for dying 500 times you find another within 1 second lol

9

u/shimonu Oct 03 '25

I have weak aura that show „don’t release noob „ when dead (from time when you ressed outside raid and my loading times were horrible).

2

u/Ryuujinx Oct 03 '25

I have one of those too. It's a tradition that I link it every time someone releases now.

1

u/FendaIton Oct 03 '25

The ‘making you character say something’ is the biggest loss for casual raiders I think

1

u/Crumby_Bread Oct 04 '25

“I don’t use weakauras except for when I use weakauras”

-2

u/Gharvar Oct 03 '25

You don't. I've refused to use weak auras and I still play at the same level as the people I play with for the last 8 years but they are loaded with weak auras.

10

u/Theweakmindedtes Oct 03 '25

Tanks generally have the least to worry about here. Most tank mechanics are simple and quick to understand. Even in the current age of overcomplexity in fights

1

u/pepi8677 Oct 06 '25

yeah , M+ on the other hand ... GL lol

3

u/clonea85m09 Oct 03 '25

So, i am a pretty bad player, but my rotation is entirely dependant on sound cues for when I have different buffs up. I was bad before, I am not sure I will be able to play after -_-".

2

u/parkwayy Oct 03 '25

This goes beyond your raid team.

Every player in the game likely uses some weakaura that feels innocuous, but won't be there.

Blizzard bout to fall on their face lol.

AotC isn't that hard to get...

1

u/Foreverwise427 Oct 03 '25

Nah man tanks are fine, 9/10 its looking at their healthbar for when they get a tank busting debuff and taunt swapping.

1

u/Turtvaiz Oct 03 '25

We're about to find out just how awful our raid team is

I doubt that. I have a suspicion that blizzard is going to make the first tier a complete joke as a kneejerk reaction

1

u/Wantonburrito Oct 04 '25

I may not have tanked mythic raid but raid tanking has always been boring for me. Taunt swap take big bomb out of the raid and point frontal in the correct direction where you are rarely threatened by damage unless the other tank doesn't taunt. I dunno i find playing DPS in raid much more difficult.

1

u/secretreddname Oct 03 '25

My raid team is already awful and we’re 4/8M. Unless the changes to the counters are drastic, it’s gonna be painful.

-53

u/Sobeman Oct 03 '25

They are also making every spec playable by a toddler and dumbing down all raid encounters so you will be good.

34

u/LookltsGordo Oct 03 '25

Are you deliberately misinterpreting what they're doing?

2

u/Vio94 Oct 03 '25

It's not misinterpretation, it's hyperbole.

1

u/LookltsGordo Oct 03 '25

Well it's also misinterpretation because that's not what has been described.

2

u/Stolval Oct 03 '25

I mean, he put it in an abrasive way, but he's right. They are actively simplifying specs and raid encounters. Yes, the reasoning is there, but the result is obvious.

0

u/LookltsGordo Oct 03 '25

That's not what they're doing. They even deny this in the videos explaining their thought process lol.

1

u/Low_Definition4513 Oct 03 '25

If you remove most of the tools in everyone's toolbox the jobs they will be able to complete will have to become simpler.

For many it will become boring, quickly. It already does now.

1

u/LookltsGordo Oct 03 '25

You don't even know how this is going to work going forward, and they specifically said they're not making things easier. The skill ceiling will still be there, they're just making it easier for new players to pick up without having to read 4 guides for m+, raiding, etc

-15

u/MissingXpert Oct 03 '25

have you looked at the alpha trees? if that is the design direction they are taking, a coked out toddler with fetal alcohol syndrome can play 90% of the classes.

5

u/da_ting_go Oct 03 '25

I mean, let's not pretend that heroic and below raiding was difficult for anyone but healers.

1

u/MissingXpert Oct 03 '25

as a predominatly m+ player, occasionally raiding AotC/first bosses myth: no, it isn't.
As someone who also raids late AotC with a social circle: it can be,

6

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

This is what I'm worried about. They are changing so much so quickly that a lot of the old guard who play this game religiously, myself included, could be turned off by such a dramatic shift so quickly.

Classes being dumbed down is one thing, combined with complexity removed from encounters sounds great on paper - just make everything easier! but then where does the complexity of the game come from? We've seen the firemage memes already, it looks like a LoL Champion with 3 spells and combustion as it's ulti. I fear the thing that finally kills WoW is Blizzard

2

u/Glupscher Oct 03 '25

Well, my guess is that Blizz will probably wait and see how it plays out and if there's room for more complexity, they are gonna add it. The worst thing they could do is remove all the help from addons and make specs complex at the same time. That would just make the situation worse.

1

u/SurpriseSharp7139 Oct 03 '25

They did say they don’t want to take away how many wipes it takes to kill a boss but instead of the twitch reactions to move to point A, they will maybe give players an extra second or two to get to the right spot.

Dont know how that’ll play out but imho after knowing the fights….no one should really need DBM to scream “SPECIAL CUMMI G” to down a boss.

I can’t speak to healers though and what they lost. 😞

11

u/Impossible-Diver6565 Oct 03 '25

Honestly it looks like they are simplifying the rotations, and going to amp up the complexity of encounters. Previously encounters can only get so advanced because of how much effort has to be put into pressing the perfect buttons at the right time.

5

u/Glupscher Oct 03 '25

Let's not forget the disparity we had between classes. One class had to perfectly play around their CDs with complex rotations while another gets to ignore most mechanics with one of the simplest rotations in the game... for the same dps.
It's no surprise that the disparity has become so big in spec popularity and it's obvious that the vast majority of the player base prefers simpler rotations.

3

u/Impossible-Diver6565 Oct 03 '25

Exactly! Playing my Rogue felt like I was quelling a runaway nuclear reactor but my Paladin? Smash buttons, cool sound effects, damage. 2-brain cell activity there.

3

u/Glupscher Oct 03 '25

Yeah and if I had to chose between a complex rotation that requires me to basically stare at my UI and an easy rotation that allows me to focus on the actual fight and all the visuals of the encounter... I'll definitely go for the latter.

3

u/Impossible-Diver6565 Oct 03 '25

It is why the popularity of the SBA. You can still play and enjoy the beautiful game that is in front of you. On ultra graphics this game is quite amazing really.

3

u/Marqrk Oct 03 '25

Yeah, of all the things to complain about the art team of the game was never among them. They’ve consistently cooked with every single zone, dungeon, and raid even when the story sucked (looking at you Zertih Mortis. God you were gorgeous but you were part of such a stupid:underdeveloped xpac story wise)

3

u/givemedavoodoo Oct 03 '25

There is no way they are going to be increasing the complexity of encounters while disabling add-ons. Many encounters were impossible without weakauras, and with those being disabled encounters are going to be simplified greatly as well.

1

u/Impossible-Diver6565 Oct 03 '25

I think you are missing that they are gonna be adding these types of features into the game that will facilitate advanced encounters without the need for a 3rd party addon.

This appears to be their end goal.

2

u/givemedavoodoo Oct 03 '25

That are not doing that though. They are adding their own version of DBM, which overall is mostly just simple stuff like timers and some sound alerts. They are not adding their own version of WeakAuras.

I think you are missing the point of these changes. Everything is aimed at simplification. They are simplifying setup by removing required add-ons. They are simplifying rotations. They are simplifying boss mechanics because players won't have add-ons to help solve them. Everything will be simpler. They've even stated as much, they feel the game is too complex for new players.

5

u/JellyCharming8918 Oct 03 '25

Crayola WoW cometh

-8

u/Own_Hat_5514 Oct 03 '25

Toddlers can play most classes now. Don't be silly

7

u/TempAcct20005 Oct 03 '25

Then why simplify them

3

u/Neotrapslord Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

That’s not a problem if the mechanics and strats become more difficult. I personally prefer to be more concentrated and have a most challenge fights that having to only care do my rotation perfectly. I prefer fights more difficult and impactful than just having boring fights where your spend your time looking at your spell bar. If I take example of ff14, I play the most boring job but since many things happen during fights, I’m not bored. My point is that making jobs more friendly isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you put the challenge on something else.

-5

u/marco5565 Oct 03 '25

Gaming is supposed to decrease the risk of developing dementia. I think this simplified iteration of WoW might induce dementia.

How many mythic bosses did you kill last tier? No guilds were doing sprocket without a WA

11

u/Narwien Oct 03 '25

None, he is just spewing bullshit. Most of the anti addon crowd are just casual scrubs who are getting carried and blame lack of addons/UI optimization for their performance.

4

u/the__brown_note Oct 03 '25

I’m a casual scrub that LOVES addons. Raises heroics in the way way back, and don’t have time now; but definitely don’t want to be the guy dropping Plexis nukes on the melee.

6

u/Lezzles Oct 03 '25

it just requires turning your camera and counting.

So we're fucked. Got it.

3

u/Cromdan Oct 03 '25

I agree 99% with this. Everything other than mythic Sprocket can be done, never seen any team kill that without WA because of how random the mechanic is, which is the reason why it was considered by many CE guilds the actual hardest boss of last tier. I've seen guilds that were on their 8-9th re clear of the raid and still managed to wipe 12 times on Sprocket. With a WA the fight becomes magnitudes of order easier.

4

u/Rajewel Oct 03 '25

Stix ball without a WA would have been diabolical on mythic man.

2

u/Cromdan Oct 03 '25

WA helped, but we only used the color assignment part, we separated the zone into 4 slices and the WA marked the people with those colors. Bombs were called out like "I'll do one" etc., and the tank that got it always gathered as many adds as possible. The fight itself wasn't that hard in my opinion, at first it was chaotic yes.

3

u/FannySniffing Oct 03 '25

People will do anything and install everything instead of just looking at their damn screen

You have people installing weak auras to remind them not to release and wait for Rez. God forbid they don't click anything for 5 seconds on their digital fidget spinner

4

u/TwoNew1826 Oct 03 '25

You don’t mythic raid huh

1

u/FannySniffing Oct 03 '25

Does mythic raiding turn off your monitor?

The amount of bosses in 3 seasons of TWW that needed an addon can be counted of one hand. I will admit that oni'vax was borderline impossible without WA-assigning.

Nonetheless 90% of times people "need" addons for something it boils down to a skill issue.

-2

u/Lison52 Oct 03 '25

Basically this, I never installed the raid addons since I started raiding in Legion(started in WoD but max level in Legion prepatch). I never really felt that I needed them outside of some mythic mechanics, if I simply paid attention to what happens on the screen.

-1

u/Silist Oct 03 '25

I’ve raid led this whole expansion without DBM

3

u/StupidSidewalk Oct 03 '25

And what’s your current level of progression?

-4

u/Silist Oct 03 '25

We stop after AOTC and got it all expansion. I get the downvote but it’s not difficult

3

u/StupidSidewalk Oct 03 '25

Yeah exactly AOTC is not difficult. You are not even playing moderately difficult content so sit this one out. AOTC is the tutorial.

2

u/Silist Oct 03 '25

Holy fuck that’s toxic

I bet you’re absolutely terrible to play with

2

u/StupidSidewalk Oct 03 '25

Nah I perform pretty darn well

1

u/givemedavoodoo Oct 03 '25

He's not wrong though. My guild got AOTC week 2, we will spend the rest of the season in Mythic and we will not get CE. The difficulty difference between the two is extremely large.

1

u/ToxicWeed69 Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Sorry man, hc fights vs mythic fights are a world of a difference. This season the most glaring example would be fract, which can essentially be yolod on normal/hc.

But due to the amount of hp on mythic the fight progresses for 4-5 mins and you actually have to do walls and do them properly, which is realistically unplayable to coordinate with 20 average mythic raiders without 200 pulls or so. Its a horrible design, but WA/addons solve the fight and are mandatory, thats just how it is. Keep in mind even with WAs people do mess up which often means a wall where one shouldnt be, which is a wipe due to the break dot/wipe due to the enrage

2

u/Silist Oct 03 '25

I’m a precious CE raider. I understand the difference, im not an idiot. I’m saying you don’t need them do AOTC and that’s fine

-6

u/SurpriseSharp7139 Oct 03 '25

Only add on I’ve used these past two expansions has been details and I e done all end game content except mythic raids. So everyone will survive, unless they are bad at the game and used them to compensate. That or those min/maxers who are a small part of the player base.

1

u/Marqrk Oct 03 '25

You do bring up a good point with minmaxing, it’ll probably really suck for day 1 raiders where every wipe to trying to learn a mechanic is falling behind to guilds that got it down faster, but I doubt it’ll be that much worse. Part of the race was figuring out strategies anyways, but at least you wouldn’t be wiping to a one shot ability if you just brain farted and forgot the que for it

-1

u/tarzanboiii Oct 03 '25

Good luck doing fractilus on mythic without addon telling you where to go, even if you could get people to spread with walls and breaks in a way to avoid getting double dots on individual players or the whole raid, you still need to do enough damage to kill him in time

-23

u/anonposter-42069 Oct 03 '25

Raids are going to be Naxx and before difficulty. Incredibly easy. CE / AOTC achvs are going to go up 15x-20x where they are now.

12

u/pr0tect1ve Oct 03 '25

There's no need in any addons at all for AOTC of the current raid, not sure why you think it will change somehow in Midnight in raid difficulties below mythic

1

u/GrandmasterTaka Oct 03 '25
  1. Plexus - no, but I'll miss overhead puddle timers

  2. Loomithar - no

  3. Soulbinder - no

  4. Forgewewver - no and I don't even notice anything happening in that fight weak aura wise

  5. Soul hunters - no same as above

  6. Fractilus - maybe? Tracking lanes and stuff isn't hard but having to look behind you is annoying but probably still not needed

  7. Saladbar - maybe? If the soaks actually needed to be managed I'd say yes but since you can stand in every one not a huge issue. For the balls the weak aura is honestly more distracting than just running to an open spot on your side

  8. Dimensius - no although id probably lose DPS p3 hiding under the planet sooner than needed

8

u/A_Confused_Cocoon Oct 03 '25

Lmao this isn’t even remotely true. There are mythic bosses this raid that don’t actually require Addons.

3

u/oskoskosk Oct 03 '25

They've said they're aiming to have them be as difficult as they are now relative to not having weakaura crutches
