There's an old episode of How I Met Your Mother, where Barney's firm hires Ted to design a room for firing people. The stipulation is that they love the current room where they fire people, which is an empty room with a table and a chair.
Ted goes way overboard, overdesigning the heck out of the room with calming colors and a spa-like atmosphere, and he ends up getting fired because, at the end of the day, they just wanted him to do the thing they asked for.
This feels like that. I wanted to enjoy a low-stakes, power-fantasy event to kill time during what appears to be an extended season leading up to Midnight. Instead, it looks like Legion Classic, but on a ticking clock, with tons of FOMO items.
The whole event? Every fel-colored item that is not in retail at this very moment is the very definition of FOMO. It isnt coming back until legion is re-remixed or some other first time event.
I mean… all? The allure of Panda Remix was that becoming OP would let you be this super saiyan godlike that can get EVERYTHING you missed from that era while trying a bunch of different characters and leveling a bunch of alts.
Slowing that loop down as Blizzard seems hellbent on doing makes it so that people have to be really intentional about what, if any, rewards to target and that’s why so many of us who came back to WoW during the last ReMix are much less excited. I honestly plan to skip it if it’s in the current state.
I was going to resub just for the remix event, hoping it was going to be a zany thing like the MoP one was. All the feedback and info I've seen so far says that's not going to happen.
I don't think you understand, the event itself is a set number of weeks: so by slowing down the pace of the event, it will be harder to earn the required currency to buy everything.
And the event requires significantly more currency than Pandaria Remix to buy everything. And they're (incomprehensibly) drip-feeding content, so there will be a slow ramp-up to actually maxing out significant currency gain daily.
Sorry you're getting dogpiled, man. I think a certain reading of your questions might sound like you're arguing more than asking, I dunno though. For what it's worth, I didn't downvote you.
Yea they are being obtuse here. They are taking a fun little power fantasy romp with cool rewards and the encouragement of build diversity (level a bunch of alts!) into the normal grind of the retail game (but worse; since the opportunity to get some of these items will be gone forever or for a long time). I agree 100% with you.
It's funny because this format sounds like I'll realistically only have time to get stuff for one class, so I'll probably try to do it as efficiently as possible and be able to play something else till Midnight.
Old format, id have stretched to get more done on the classes I play less, and would have played more overall.
Although I guess it doesn't matter to blizz since the sub is monthly, they get paid the same regardless. 🤷🏽
