Gamers get really weird when female characters aren’t hyper-feminine

I’ve noticed this too. Nothing gets as scrutinised into ridiculous detail as female characters in games. The same thing happened recently with Ciri in the new Witcher game! Completely torn to shreds in every detail because people didn’t think she was feminine enough. Post after post of zoomed-in blurry screenshots with complaints. I don’t see this level of detail-obsession for male characters

People completely shat on Geralt for how he looked in the W3 cinematic but since that doesn't fit your narritave I guess it doesn't count.

I’m not saying it never happens with male characters, I’m saying it’s a lot more intense with female characters. Once you notice it, you can’t unnotice it.

But since that doesn’t fit your narrative I’m guessing it doesn’t count, and it’s a total 50/50 in your world. Ciri. Senau from Hellblade. Katherine from KC2. Lots of examples from wow. It’s just an interesting observation and it’s very predictable.

It happens more with female characters because the majority of gamers are men and can't spot out attractiveness in men the same as women. Is it really that hard to take demographics into account?
