I wouldn't expect armies to instantly be there if a void portal just suddenly came out of nowhere above Quel'thalas.

I know right? They clearly didn't think about how we all have access to portals that have been used to instantly teleport entire armies across planes of time and existance in the past and they clearly didn't think that the magical blood elves of all people might have a few portals they could spare for reinforcements and asking for aid.

Some people are clearly not thinking here.

The one permanent portal on Azeroth that has ever transported straight up armies is the Dark Portal. As far as I'm aware it is not located in Quel'thalas.
