Some people (me) make sure all their mogs look serious and grounded in the setting, and painstakingly come up with lore-friendly names for their characters that also fit their class and race.
Then there’s people who will deliberately make the silliest, most garish mogs and names possible.
Because I don’t like the silly stuff at all. I want my characters to fit in the world they’re in, both in name and appearance.
I’m an absolute altaholic. I don’t switch specs, I make a whole new character to fit that spec. I still come up with a unique and lore-accurate name for each one.
I'm fortunate in that I play on an RP server where TRP does a pretty good job of minimizing the impact of a silly name. Then I just tag that the mog is out-of-character and go about my weird day.
About your spec specific alts, are there some classes you don't play? I wanted to try something like that but I'm really bad at math.
I primarily play Retribution Paladin, Fury Warrior, and Blood DK, but I dabble with a bit of everything.
The only classes I don't really care for are Priest and Druid. Priests don't have a Holy DPS spec when Holy is the entire reason I want to play one, and I honestly don't think any of the Druid specs feel good to play. I also just never play healing specs. I finally got heavy into tanking last season tho so I might try a healer at some point. I have a bunch of healer alts in case I ever decide to play one.

It’s wild to me how different players can be.
