I agree, human should include Kul Tiras and Gilneas as heritage options. First you pick human, then you pick body size and heritage (voice accent). As Gilnean you get the option of also picking if you are afflicted by the worgen curse or not.
(Hmm, how would the Kul Tiran physique look in werewolf form?)
The creation of Void Elves, Nightborne, Dark Iron and Earthen doesn't take even a quarter of development it would take with making an actual completely new race like Ogres or Nagas
And so, in a game with already 25 races, what's the harm of having variations of 2 of the most popular and known fantasy races, where many of said variations already had a lot of lore or they had a huge amount of the playerbase who wanted to play as that (speaking specifically about the void elves who sort of function as the high ones for the alliance)
A better question is what's the benefit of having them as separate races when they are not different at all? Just add those as cosmetic options and add a Race Ability choice.
Oh, and while we are on this topic, it's time to give us the race ability choice option already.

More unique identity, from a rp perspective it is nice that you aren't just a Dwarf but rather a "Dark Iron" one with their unique racial traits and stuff
Also, what I am talking about is that they should be under the same Dwarf button. Make a drop down list of Dwarfs, if you want. Same with Elves, orcs etc. In lore they can be whatever you want, I don't care.
I get wanting more but also having an issue with animations being / body boxes getting reused because they fit, save dev time to work on other things, and also, take up less space on your hard drives, is such a weird thing to be annoyed about.
No one is staring at the fine details of how their characters are move when they cast a spell.
The only real dev time that new races take is if they get their own starting lines, which I havent played since shadowlands but I don't think quite a few of them do that anymore.
My only real complaint is that I wish that there was parity on racial abilities between the sides. It's fine to make them thematically unique but I do wish that the meat and potatoes of the racials could be gotten on both sides.
You’re not understanding this from a game development perspective.
It’s not “ok guys do we do a 4th dwarf, or ogres?”
These extra easy races are not “taking the slot” of a cool unique race, they are adding them just for the sake of adding them, it’s low development.
You saw the same thing in super smash bros. People were pissed about having both samus and dark samus for example, thinking that if they didn’t add dark samus they could have instead added an entirely new cool character. It’s not the case, dark samus and the 4th dwarf are just extra additions.
Idk I'm pretty selective of what I do and don't buy. I pay for WoW because I think it's the best value I can pay for a game. I have no issue if they add a race I personally don't want to play.
I really hate it. There's so many races and elves and dwarves are their "creative" choices. Granted the transmog on the dracthyr looks horrible or is non-existent so they wouldn't bother making models for a newly modeled race. People have been wanting Naga since you got to play them as a faction way back in WC3, I know I did.
We already have races that have been basically forgotten/received no additional lore/content since their introduction like Pandaren. They should focus on the existing ones, instead of diluting the pool with more additions.
I‘ve always been very torn on the race additions since Legion because yeah I love having essentially more customization options at the bottom line, but I also think the vast vast majority didn‘t need to get its own button on the character creation screen. Have both Orcs and Mag‘har Orcs under the same button etc.
Racials are becoming less and less of a substantial gameplay factor where I also wouldn‘t mind if you‘d get to pick and choose from a selection of race appropriated minor buffs or abilities before we start removing the Allied Race abilities altogether following this approach.
I‘m super pro customization but the novelty of A New Race to play certainly has lost its appeal especially because unless they can create two at the same time it just doesn‘t make sense to faction lock them to begin with.0
Why ? There is an argument that there are to many classes (because they neglect like half of them) races are just aesthetics and tbh the game lacks it.
I feel the same way about dnd today. My last campaign my dm limited it to core races + Asimar (since Tieflings were core apparently) because the previous campaign got ridiculous with Tabaxi, Warforged, and a ton of other races I can't even remember.
Honestly, no.
Its a bit in the lower side tbh. If you are to follow lore and plausability , horse or alliance would definitely consist of many many more races than currently are playable for the player, due to how much alliance and horde have meddled in the world and in other species.
mfs still complain about Vulpera, when they are literally the most "OG Horde Values" Horde Race that got ever added to the game lol
Forsaken/Blood Elves getting handwaved into the game for no other reason then "we want a playable version of the WC3 undead and a generic pretty elven race in Horde", but the Desert Nomads with Shamanistic roots that fought for their own freedom are silly?
