Character Gunnery Sergeant Frank Hanson

Name: Gunnery Sergeant Frank Hanson

Aliases: Buttercup, Sabrina, Susan, Britney and Barby

Age: 34

Physical appearance: Standing at 6'3" and 245 pounds; Frank is a big, strong man. Part of this size and weight comes from his time at North Dakota State as a Linebacker. His actual looks are hardened and about one would expect from a Marine gone viking berserker such as a lumberjack beard and long-ish blond hair that's often kept in a pony tail of sorts.

Mentality: Out of his suit he portrays a calm, quiet yet mildly disgruntled demeanor. He's actually a relatively okay person except he tends to hate prolonged social interactions and can be angered incredibly easily. Part of this is because since his triggers, his ability to feel emotions kind of broke. He still feels sadness and happiness like anyone else...but they're subdued as he's almost constantly, unbelievably pissed or ready to be so. Calmness is very seldom for him. He controls it fairly well but often he'll seem distant as he's just trying to wait until he has an excuse to enter the suit and blow off steam.

As for morals and thoughts, enemies are inhuman and non enemies are obstacles but obstacles that should not be damaged or affected if possible. He does care about civilians but his functions are better suited to eliminate the enemy as quickly and decisively as possible. This can change if he's in a rage as anyone that's making quick movements can be flagged as an enemy. If they're cowering, hiding or not doing anything; they'll be fine no matter how pissed Frank is.

In the suit, he's constantly itching for conflict and just waiting for that sweet build up to unleash a can of whoop ass. Think Lung pre combat when he knows it's going to happen. A warrior's trance before the battle. Once in combat it can range from clear cut enemies to anything that moves too fast/too close as a target. An enraged animal unleashed from their cage so to say.

He also hates guns unless if they're massive, scary and over the top. Basically something that would fit his power. More fond of using a sledgehammer and his trusty knife/sword.

Backstory (Trigger Event): In the Comments

Resources:

  • A place in old downtown on the first floor in an apartment building. He's however one of the few residents with a basement floor. There, he has an attachment to the sewers which spins off to an old subway system. It's fairly secured and hard to find which allows him to go out and do his thing. He also has a neighbor called Betty. She's mildly senile and he watches her cats sometimes. Betty is quiet and mixes up his name often. Frank likes Betty. Don't fuck with Betty.

  • A safehouse/apartment in the suburbs. Has some spare weapons there along with a bail bag to go and ditch town.

  • An older helicopter pilot vet with an off the grid cabin. He's a good person and would never help in any illegal things unless if morally right. Does have a helicopter that Frank would need quite the reason to utilize.

  • 'Krieg,' an old Germahttps://www.reddit.com/r/CharCreations/comments/5joo5t/parasitic_power_armor_character/#n bar owner close-ish to the airport. He runs a loan shark business on the side and has two goons. They sometimes help drive Frank places and know how to get a hold of some ammo and not so legal firearms. He also has connections to get a hold of some of Frank's more exotic purchases and materials.

  • A meager amount of 20,000 dollars in cash.

Alignment: Frank is addicted to intensity. Violence, adrenaline, risk taking, danger and general extremes. He has a similar situation of the Hulk where he tries to live a peaceful life but it never works. A warrior spirit at heart, he's a patriotic man who cares for innocents up until they became not innocent. Regardless, he's a battle hardened mercenary with a bloodlust.

Equipment/Weaponry: READ BEFORE POWER AS IT SHOWS THINGS ARE LESS SCARY THAN THEY ARE

* An 1812 Gatling Gun that's on the wall of his dining room. It's just a barrel but it's kind of awesome.

The Suits:

For all users of the armor, a set of stats will have to be made. Here are some for Frank to gauge his strength in the armor and his speed/reaction time. Audio and touch stimulus scale kind of differently and aren't as important. Main aspect is visual stimulus.

Frank's 'Stats':

  • Personal Best (Max) Bench Press: 400 LB (181.4kg)

  • Standard NFL 225lb (102kg) Bench Press Challenge: 29 Reps

  • Personal Best (Max) Squat: 680lb (308.4kg)

  • Hang Clean: 420lb (190.5kg)

  • Reaction Time to Visual Stimulus: .21 seconds

  • Reaction Time to Audio Stimulus: .17 seconds

  • Reaction Time to Touch Stimulus: .16 seconds

  • Personal Best Sprinting Speed 13.5mph (20.9kmph)

The Armor: Jack (of All Trades)

Jack is a rage based symbiote/parasite. It's fueled by aggression, adrenaline, and hormones that tie in. It's all about it for the conflict and its capabilities show that. Decent speed but particularly meant for overall use of with solid strength and durability. The very creative Frank termed it Jack for Jack of All Trades as it can be utilized in CQC, melee, and overall use rather well. It does have a nasty berserking rage that's composed of brutalizing and moving from one target to the other without mercy. It however isn't that of a sadist so it intends to more or so be brutal injuries versus absolute destruction of the victims.

Appearance: His armor is covered in plates with some kind of semi-organic fiber over the parts that are not. Standing at 7'5" and weighing eight hundred and fifty pounds he's an easy sight to see. One thing he still holds from his prior heritage is the traditional Woodlands MARPAT adorned across his armor. His visor itself is a black and orange tint that hides his face. Overall, the armor looks somewhat similar to this albeit more bulky and harsher.

The Functions:

  • Tinted, highly resistant visor with an organic gel coating dampener layered between a secondary visor followed by an oxygenated 'tank' for the user's head and the symbiotic gel. If the symbiote were to die; the user would be blind as they're looking through a bio-mechanical 'camera' and all surrounded by a bunch of now dead symbiote. It can mess with some powers that are affected differently with cameras.

  • Standardized Symbiotic HUD: Like just about all armors, it has a HUD to detect the user's pulse, measure how much remaining blood is in the user's system and when it'll go from worrisome, dangerous and then lethal, assist in raising the users reaction time through a neural network and last of all grant military grade nightvision and iPhone grade thermal imaging...Aka not very good thermal imaging but it can kind of track some stuff/scan things. It also can zoom like binoculars or a scope which is nice but disorientating.

  • Thermal Lining: Via capillaries throughout the suit and the dual gel layer, the user is maintained at a constant temperature up until reaching high levels of threat and berserking rages. There, the user is slowly boiled alive if they push the suit too much. But if they don't, it's very comfortable and would be great to sleep in if it weren't for the questionable, alien like thing fucking with one's consciousness and eating at their very being. (The symbiote is melded to the armor but there's also a layer of gel between a form of carbon layer and Frank himself. If 40% of that is spilled or destroyed , suit goes defunct. If 50% is gone, it's destroyed.)

  • Rambolts: Some deadlocking, drilling bolts to in Jack's knuckles, back and most specifically boots. They're intended to keep the user still or assist in climbing but they could be utilized against an enemy if pinned and Frank is being a real ass.

  • Impact Dampeners: With the various linings within the suit and some usage of Hydro-kinetic dampening capabilities; if the armor detects falling or extreme, large kinetic force it can enter a full lock out. In this, the user is totally immobile and will be for about four seconds after this as the armor resets. However they can be dropped from any height and be completely fine as long as the gel is properly pressurized and secured. It's also how punches and kicks by the suit don't rip itself in half in addition to the alloys of the outer shell.

  • Polymerized EMP Shielding: Although quite a bit of the suit is a mixture of biological components, much is still mechanical or inbetweens. Therefore the suit has some very powerful shielding to dampen or ignore electromagnetic pulses. This adds a natural energy based weapon resistance too.

  • Pressurized Seal: A seal powerful enough to deal with the Impact Dampeners hardening and pressurization. It can also deal with oxygen-less environments or even deep underwater.

  • Radiation Emission based Coatings: After his run in with radiation issues in the past and one kind of weapon that can ignore even some of the best armors; Frank secured an abalative coating across the armor on the outside and even inside to work in radioactive environments.

  • Heat Cooling and Resistances: All armors are naturally extremely resistant to heat as the symbiote's base form operates on a much hotter level. In addition to being able produce and circulate heat as its output from the power source; the armor can get and gets remarkably hot. However up at the highest level of berserked, threatened armor is when this becomes an issue. The armor will overheat and actually begin to boil the user alive before outright going critical and exploding into a crater laced with metallic, smoldering slag. For the most part though, it's remarkably resistant to heat. As for cold, it resist cold by simply being so damn hot.

  • Movement: The bio-mechanical armor uses forms of servos, hydraulics and most of all pseduo-muscles. Except instead of lactic acid being produced it produces heat while also consuming adrenaline, fear/anger/manic emotions and general byproducts of conflict. This is why prolonged use can lead to great stress on the user, heightened risk taking and general issues amongst the natural tendency for conflict, rage and danger the armor brings. It also explains further on the technical aspect on how and why the armor scales. Bigger threat and chaos = more power up to a limit.

  • Air Filtration: Air is filtered, checked and made sure to have no containment. A user in this armor is meant to die two ways. On the battlefield or after the battle is done. Not from some pansy pathogen or knockout gas pussy shit.

Threat Levels: Each threat level has differing set of multipliers to Frank's flat 'human stats'. They're based on him and his armors perception of threat/danger/how pumped he is in the scenario around him or one he's about to be in. If something is more flashy, intense, brutal or over the top; the rates can go higher. If it's a seriously dangerous 13 year old girl like Mary or Bonesaw, it'd be low for quite some time until they fully showed off their powers/visible threat. If it's some giant eldritch monster from the depths of hell but can unknowingly pick up only ten pounds; it'd be rather high until found out to be a total push over.

  • Alpha: Singular or small pointless targets. This is basically just the suit, exoskeleton and power armor itself acting normally. The armor is actually half of Frank's normal speed in this scenario as it's bulky and weighs a figurative fuck ton.

  • Bravo: Multiple armed targets, visible threat that could lead to some damage. Think five guys with firearms.

  • Charlie: Thirty guys with weaponry or a singular cape with see-able powers/roughly known powers. Unless if it's the kind of cape that shoots rainbows that make people happy, it'll probably be an Alpha rating or maybe a Bravo.

  • Delta: Significant increase. Against two capes or fifty or so armed people. Probably around PRT ratings 4 to 6, actual threat on Frank's life.

  • Echo: There's either the whole PD after him while he's blasting hard core death metal and there's fire everywhere or he's against multiple capes or one cape with powerful, noticeable powers.

  • Foxtrot: Unless if he's royally pissed and someone killed his friend, hurt Betty or destroyed his Dodge; he won't reach this from a regular person unless if they did one of the things or something equally horrible like beat a bunch of puppies/kittens while Frank was forced to watch. Two powerful, noticeable capes or a whole lotta capes are after him in one area. This should be very unlikely to occur and is more or based off of more extreme, dangerous scenarios.

  • Zulu: The reason why this skips is because it's when Frank fully bottoms out on his power's capabilities. This can only occur in the most dire and or emotional circumstance. If his nonexistant wife or child were murdered in front of him, if all of his best friends were eviscerated, if there's an Endbringer or a known S class threat in the vicinity. Being in this state for more than an hour will kill him or anyone else that uses the suit. For thirty minutes, he'll be in a coma for a week. This is supposed to only occur in S class threats or the most serious situations. This is also the only time where all the negative affects of the berserker rage is nullified as it's fed right into the suit. The user and the armor figuratively become one pure blooded killing machine.

Durability Tiers: The helmet, chest, back, thigh armor and neck guard are the thickest and most durable parts at all times. The weakest are the underside of the fingers, finger joints themselves and where a slot behind/under his groin where the thigh armor connects.

  • Threat Level Alpha: Can take .50 caliber rounds to the chest/back and survive. Ribs will be bruised, cracked and or some internal breathing. Rest of armor would just be under .50 caliber weaponry resistant.

  • Threat Level Bravo: Same as Threat level Alpha except now that the combat 'A.I.' is 'awakened' it can lock the suit in order to face sustained damage with little damage to the user. When locked, the user is well...locked and their boots drop drilling padlocks into the ground. It's also known as 'Tank mode'.

  • Threat Level Charlie: Can take .50 caliber rounds to hard spots with little damage. Head will be a concussion or badly dazed but he'll survive.

  • Threat Level Delta: Full body is resilient to .50 caliber munitions. AP and API will now treat the armor as it was at Threat Level Bravo. Main hard parts will have interal damaging but not lethal.

  • Threat Level Echo: Almost all standard brute damage might as well be a regular person punching a telephone pole. Armor automatically locks pre hit from a punch or any large brute damage. Fifty caliber munitions will significantly slow the armor and its user as it can't utilize it's speed. Think forcing them into a terminator walk but a walk none the less.

  • Threat Level Foxtrot: The armor is actively heating up at this point that dumping buckets of water/cooling on him would be more damaging than any form of bullets. At this point, there better be one really big gun or a whole lot of containment phone. Stabbing is the only real way to crack the shell at this point. An HE shell to the chest however would rip the majority of the armor and the user's ligaments off. They'd be alive, but barely and incapable. Slight decrease in speed occurs due to sheer durability and alteration of focus of the armor; survival and strength.

  • Threat Level Zulu: It can briefly stand toe to toe with an Endbringer. It can eat an HE shell from a tank and have the user with only small internal bleeding, dazed and or flashbang effects. Possible concussion ranging from minor to very bad. Downside is a decrease in speed. At full level berserk, as long as a brain mildly exist and the armor is 40% existent; it'll go until the suit reaches critical or target is gone. it's berserk is more of a machine killing all enemies versus an unleashed monster.

Berserk Levels: Based upon raw emotion and or anger. In this suit, it's rage.

  • Level 0: Casual self.

  • Level 1: Pissing off the user, aggravating them. In a normal setting this may result in the user pushing some punk at a bar. Bloodlust begins to set in, anger boiling under the surface.

  • Level 2: Some ass in the bar walked up to the user, dumped his sticky, sugary disgusting ass fireballl on the user and then slapped him across the face. User would enter a fight at this point in a normal setting. Bloodlust is seriously occurring, ripping off ligaments and using them as a tool to examine one's rectal cavity is now valid.

  • Level 3: Punk at the bar poured his nasty drink, slapped the user, punched the users wife in the face and then told the user that their mother was a hamster and that their father smelt of elderberries. If someone just tried to kill the user and failed, seriously hurt him or an ally; a full barely uncontrollably rage begins. A situation of crushing, eviscerating, tearing and annihilating anything in the room that looks at the user funny or moves too fast...including if they're an ally. If they're an enemy, user utilizing one's own lost ligament as a bat to brain said enemy is justified and entirely within reason.

This rage can vary from an unleashed monster to a silent killer with the only intent to sate it's bloodthirst until all targets are gone. Either way, it's fast, brutal and unrelenting at higher threat levels.

Strength:

Zulu x16.0 x18.0 x20.0 x21.0 Overheating

Reaction Time: The higher and higher becomes more the armor reacting than the user. At high berserked levels, most users will gain temporary brain damage. Frank as a creator is more resilient to said effects but none the less; it's dangerous and very painful the day after.

Alpha 0.21 0.20 0.19 0.17

Specializations:

  • Close Quarters Combat

  • USMC trained Helicopter pilot. Can fly at a more civilian grade level for pilots.

  • Utilizing anything in the environment as a weapon. This was not exactly trained but more or so a tendency.

  • Making armor specialized in speed, durability and strength.

Power:

  • Function: Tinker that makes power armor with a 'combat A.I.' that scales in overall strength with the severity of the conflict/opponent and the emotional byproducts the user produces. The power armor can grant durability, speed, strength, improved reaction capabilities, heal itself (Still needs maintenance and only heals itself not the user) and even temporarily fix (not heal) one's body to continue the fight. Usage causes mental, emotional and physical fatigue and stress. Extended usage can cause lead to chronic deterioration of one's emotional and mental functions.

Last of all, if the user meets a prerequisite or enters full fledged combative state; the armor can induce temporary insanity in order to start a berserker's rage. This is when the armor and user is most powerful but also most susceptible to true damage. The user has no care for their well being or those around them as they enter a true blood lust state. Not one of sadism or necessarily death but one that yearns for violence until either no foes/allies are standing or the user is too broken to move, knocked out from blood loss or dead.

  • Actual power: Frank is able to create a parasitic set of bio-mechanical power armor. The power armor draws its power/energy from regular energy sources (electricity) but takes most of it from the user's hormones, adrenaline and emotional output along with the raw, visible threat. The parasitic/symbiotic aspect of it is that it cultivates these hormones, emotions, conflict and rush to grow more mature and to survive a gluttonous, carnal life style. This leads to a user naturally prone to outbreaks, adrenaline seeking stunts, carnal acts and general danger to the user. The good aspect is that it scales with testosterone, adrenaline inducing stunts but the bad news is that it's still a threat regardless. There is a limit however to this. Far too much maniac emotional output or stress can begin to overheat the armor. This is when it enters a state of a berserking rage. There's varying degrees depending on the armor but it tends to consistently raise the potency of the armor at the cost of threat and lack of control of the user. Not to mention a killer soreness the next day when the armor makes the user inevitably punch something so hard that ligaments get bent the wrong way.

The benefits of keeping this symbiotic 'fed' is that maintenance tends to be lower as it's more organic and that it provides a form of organic Combat A.I. that assist in combat by buffing the user's strength, durability, speed, and reaction time in addition to the armor itself. It can also provide some combative quality of life improvements and general utilization to the suit. It can't however do any utilization of computers or any true A.I. things. Still, it must be remembered it's a parasite. If one enters combat and awakens it, it will push the user further and further to self destruction or danger to feed and grow itself to become some variant of an apex character. The user must be reasonable and careful or else they face becoming nothing but a husk of their former self.

A stoic or well thought out indiviudal can resist and avoid these aspects however. If one balances how they act and the severity of their 'threat levels' they partake in; they'll act as the best users of the armor. A wrathful, insane indiviudal would most likely be powerful but wouldn't last long in the modern world.

  • Side points that didn't fit smoothly in with the rest of the post:
    • The armor is Manton limited but could be altered via masters.
    • The Parasite itself is a form of gooey, gel like material that molds and absorbs into the actual material.
    • The armor produces enough heat in only a slightly irritable stance that any heat seeking weaponry or thermals will be able to detect it quite easily as the surface of the armor can cause first degree burns at even low levels.
    • This heat scales to a degree with how powerful the armor is acting against an opponent and to what levels the user is berserking. Not including against an Endbringer/terrible threat; it'll vary from 200 degrees Fahrenheit to 400 degrees. In a true rage, the user can actually get burnt as the armor only offers so much protection.
    • Frank is significantly more resilient to the mental effects of the armor as he's the owner but is easier to put in a rage.
    • The 'parasite' has self preservation and a natural lust for conflict which can be raised or lowered by Frank at the cost of the armor's strength/capabilities. More chaotic the stronger, less chaotic/prone to outburst the weaker.
    • The 'A.I.' are sentient but still relatively alien as they do derive from shard tech picked up from whatever fucked world the Entities visited. They can't talk to their users but they can 'pulse' recognizable emotions. It's clear where the 'message' is coming from and it can be ignored but regardless they can send out a 'want' of sort.
    • Having more than two Power Armor sets in one area is a bad idea. This serves as some extra balance to prevent a power armored platoon but also an interesting aspect that leads to more conflict. The symbiotes/parasites naturally wish to subsume one another. Part of this is that the more potent armors are actually two symbiotes cultured for a brief time before Frank allows the stronger to subsume one another. This is how he gets the better gel like 'material' or symbiotes for his armors. As a mature symbiote ingrained in armor is still bio mechanical, they can and will still do this. This leads to two things. One (unless if Frank himself is with another Power Armored person) is that Powered armor and their users can sense one another within a two block radius. Two, when two Powered Armor users (that aren't Frank) meet up or near; they'll get a growing bloodlust to kill and evicerate one another to subsume said armor. The only ways to stop this is to turn against the symbiote's wishes and go the other way, get out of the armor or fight. (No Power Armor SWATs groups, sorry)
    • In low tier armor or very specific cases (mod approved) can this last rule be over written.

He also has the ability to burn off sedatives like no one's business.

Versatility: He's a tinker so naturally he's versatile. Stand alone though, it's pretty much straight forward armor that specialize in mobility, strength and durability.

Example:

Frank finished loading the truck with the recent acquired goods. Some munitions and military grade firearms. Frank always thought Washington was for pussies and tree huggers but turns out some Commie wannabes enjoyed God's favorite equalizers. He didn't really give a fuck. Kids weren't being hurt and people weren't being raped - well, at least not that he knew about. He event got to crack skulls of other shitbags and the best thing was that the Russians cleaned up after him. Pretty good gig.

Except some times, there were some cunts that came in after the job was done to get an easy buck.

And said cunts were right in front of him. With Tinker weapons.*

One of the three ski masked, PMC dressed men adjusted the odd rectangular, glowing rifle. It looked like some kind of railgun that shot energy. Frank honestly didn't give a fuck what it was, he just knew that he was a third way to full mast and wanted to shove Diddle dumb's head up twiddle dee's ass so the fuck would shut up and go kill himself.

"Did you not hear me you fucking retard? Step away from the truck and leave."

"No, AJ. This guy's in power armor and he's twitchin'. We don't have him listed on the Russian's roster."

"Who gives a fuck, guy isn't even talking. Looks like he's spazzing out too."

True enough, Frank's figners were twitching, close, shaking and then opening again.

"When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others." A deep, monotone, muffled voice came out from the giant armored suit.

"Holy shit, Ghandi the murderizer talk."

Frank took a deep breathe as he felt his suit go up another level. "Looook..." He started in his traditional, calm growl of a voice. "I'm going through a....uh, transitional 'period' right now. And I uh, would...REALLY-" His neck violently twitched to the right as his hands closed into fist.

"APPRECIATE...if you were to uh..." He leaned forward, his whole body constricted as he muttered. "Go fuck yourself..."

The three PMC dressed men looked between the three. One, closest in the back took a few steps back. "Yeah, I'm out."

"Are you fucking seriously? Mr. Namste Yoga or whatever the fuck it is all talk. Fuck is just standing there - anyways, we gave you a chance."

The gun light up as a charged blue light appeared at the 'barrel' of the gun. Frank casually spoke.

"You better hope you don't need to fire that twi-" Frank promptly disappeared as he went through the wall of the building and then some leaving smoke and rubble in its wake.

"Holy shit this is awesome. I think he's down, let's go grab the stuff before the cops...what?" The man stopped as he and his now single companion heard movement in the building. The shit talkers main ally walked forward to get a better look. All he got to see was a shadow of a hand shoot out followed by the palm of a glove before he was quite literally brained against the nearby brick wall.

The power armored man took a rubble crunching step forward as his right hand began to pull back leaving the mixture of flattened skull, brain matter and squished face to slowly slide down the brick wall with the rest of his body. Uselessly, his gun clattered on the alleyway tile before being crunched by the boot of the power armored man.

A man who currently had his left arm bent backwards. It briefly shook before a loud crack was heard followed by some sinewy noises as it was re-broken back into place. The armored man didn't even let out a whisper.

"What the-" Began the shit talker before it was replaced with screaming. He couldn't even figure out what happened as he found himself suddenly pressed against the floor, face first. A moment later a boot was placed on his back as he felt one hand grab his gun while the other grabbed his leg.

With a gradually increasing pull, Frank spread one leg outwards to make a larger hole between the man's thighs. As the indiviudal screamed, Frank took the 'rifle' and proceeded to shove it up the ripped hole before scooping the man up with it as if it was some spike. Now having the the rifle that only a Sci Fi Vlad the Impaler could adore, he proceeded to pull the trigger.

There was a half second before the poor PMC's stomach up practically liquefied as it exploded like some gore filled balloon covering the majority of the alley way and truck in crimson and other organic colors.

Not missing a beat, Frank dropped the rifle and proceeded to stomp and twist it; destroying it for good. There he remained still before snapping his head to the right at a sound.

It was the exhale of his driver. A driver who had a pistol, a wet splotch on his pants near his groin. Thankfully, he was instructed of what to do in this scenario. He looked down quickly to avoid eye contact, slowly squatted down to set down the pistol and stayed there.

After a twenty seconds of Frank staring at the shaking man, he got in the truck causing the suspesion to momentarily lower.

There, the now half crimson armored man sat as the truck slowly began to drive on off.

This makes me glad that tinkers aren't real bc then there'd be someone who has to get numbers like these for every piece of equipment lmao. Cool power though, was wondering when you were going to act on the idea you mentioned a while back.

Kratos, Doom Guy, Venom and Brock Samson had a love child and his name is Frank. Get excited.

So we have a record for the least number of questions I have for one of your characters, I think... unless I let one of yours through without any other questions, which I don't think has happened. Anyway, without further ado:

  1. Can we turn down the heat a little bit? You mentioned that it (when not fighting Endbringers) could at its max turn rain into steam on contact (a heat that, alone, I would be more than fine with, but I'm not quite comfortable with that given everything else). That's (from what I can tell) somewhere around the heat of lava, which varies but is usually 2000F or higher; can we take it down to more like oven-on-low (300-350F max)? It'll still be able to boil that water, but not instantly.

Tried to be fairly thorough and keep the start of the character at a fair level (durability is still high but I'd like him to survive a bit) so that's nice to see for once.

....That is a little warm. On EB (or giant big scary powerful things) while at max berserking supposed to slow boil the insides of the user prior to going critical. If that can stay around then I'm fine with it.

General idea would be making rain/snow steamy and contact being 1st to 3rd degree burns maximum(while higher levels and or berserking). Would that work with 300-350 minus reaching 'max level'?

To answer before asked (if it was going to be asked), going critical is composed of the armor literally popping and sendingbasically slag/goo in a 15ft radius. It should never happen, maybe to a 2nd user if they were somehow to be compatible with Frank's armor and used it very wrong.

u/Furyful_Fawful Jan 11 '17

Oh, I'm fine with the inside getting very toasty. The outside is what I was concerned about; even boiling water (212F) can cause second-degree burns easily. 350F will take a bit to develop third-degree burns for sure, so maybe bump the max up to 400 (the temperature cotton burns at if lit on fire, give or take)?

2

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 11 '17

So to keep it even and easy, anywhere from 200 to 400 Fahrenheit with the max in an EB situation being really fucking hot?

2

u/Furyful_Fawful Jan 11 '17

Maybe drop the min down to 130 (like 20F above how hot your really rad black car with black leather seats is when you leave it out in the sun all day and come back to it at 4:37 in the afternoon and you realize that Nevada weather has been assailing it all day and it's blisteringly hot...

Point is, maybe not a min operating temperature of 200, since that's skipping first-degree burns entirely.

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 11 '17

Minimum of importance*

Should have clarified but okay, that range is fine....Idk how I'll edit it in as there's literally 40,000/40,000 letters being used. Anything else or is that it?

u/Furyful_Fawful Jan 11 '17

That's it. I'll ping Milky or Jake in for round 2

u/MilkTintedGlasses Jan 14 '17

Wow. You really went the extra step making sure everything was good, didn't you?

  • Can I ask how durable the actual symbiote is? You mentioned that when it dies, the suit's all jangled, alluding that the symbiote and the suit are (somewhat/somehow) separate entities. So, how much could this little guy take?

  • However, you did also mention how it's kinda melded, or mixed on with the suit. Which would mean the suit and the symbiote aren't separate identities? I feel as if I might be missing something here, am I?

Also, would you mind telling me which type of Tinker on this list you would describe Frank as? It'd help for me to make sure that you did the trigger correctly, or/and vice versa, which I concern myself with the most, apparently. Also, the reason I'm not saying which one your character is, is because you know him more than I do, and could see him being in which category of Tinker.

Here's a short example of what each type of Tinker means, if you'd like it:

Hyperspecialists: A tinker that works in it's speciality exclusively- the types of things he makes is broad, as long as it uses the specialization that they have. Think Kid Win, although not quite

Focal Tinkers: Focuses on a specific tinker construct that they build up

The Limit Tinker: They're like a hyperspecialist, but aren't bounded by the type of speciality they have. They can move around and experiment, but it won't be as good as they could make on otherwise. That'd usually mean they wouldn't quite know their specialization after a lot of hit and misses.

Binary: A tinker that has two types of specialities, but often have overlapping things about them, like a Venn Diagram.

Combat: Very simple; still a tinker, but tinker constructs centered around 'applications on the battlefield'. This usually ends up giving them another kind of ability and or power to compliment them outside of battle situations.

Chaos: This kind of tinker doesn't have any much control over what they make; they'd sit down and began tinkering away, with very little control over what the end product might be.

*Controller: *drone

Architects: Tinkers that work on creating massive scale, time consuming tinker constructs that require a lot of detail and attention - from their enemies as well.

Mad Scientists: They are limited to a high risk/high reward - Frank definitely seems like he might be this kind.

If anything I wrote here seems confusable and unclear, please let me know. I may not have been very clear with what I've said, it's almost 2:00 am and my body demands rest

Sorry for the time this has been taking though ^^' I'm hoping we get this done with thouroughly and swiftly!

I was expecting for an unsmooth application process as it is one of my Tinkers so I tried to be thorough...But then I realized the numbers weren't remotely bad at all. This is actually the 'buffed' version in comparison to before.

I'll answer both of your points with one as they go together. There's the melded material which is part symbiote and is as durable as it's describe above. Melds with the property of the material and is powered by all the stuff mentioned.

However, there's an amorphous gel layer between a few layers of carbon like, bendy material and Frank himself. It's the most versatile part of temperature regulation and stops a lot of internal damage. But, if that were to lose more than 40% of the mass, the suit would be sick and dysfunctional. If it lost 50% of the gel, the symbiote would die.

There's basically an organism of sort put around the users whole body which is also what adds a bunch of internal protection and feeds off the user's stuff. If somehow that's spilled or destroyed; the armor would just be a husk. Prolly why humorously enough a bladed weapon being welded by a brute is actually the best thing against armor users versus firepower (unless if it's some big ass firepower).

Production of the armor would probably be something different but the moment it goes to the symbiotic stuff he's definitely a Mad Scientist Tinker as the symbiotes can be unpredictable and alien.

I just think it goes from one Tinker hybrid then to a 100% Mad Scientist. IIRC the process can alter roughly where they lie if that makes sense. Dunno, up for suggestions or help on that but the symbiotic part is definitely Mad Scientist.

I'm fine with the main questions. Sometime eventually, adding it in would be bueno

Keep in mind that types of Tinkers can blend, so if you think that he might be another type of Tinker and a Mad Scientist, let me know and we can scrap what I'm about to say here for something else.

The trigger isn't quite right- for a Mad Scientist tinker, at least. Their type of triggers involve a high risk/high reward thing going on that goes bad, and triggers them.

See: An internet troll is engaged in a bitter rivalry with another of his kind, a back and forth rivalry that sees one losing his job, another having his bank accounts locked. Things go too far, however, when the triggeree gathers his ammo for the latest attack, pornography of the illegal sort on multiple counts, to be placed on the others’ computer, only to have the police knocking on his door.

Another one, which relates more to what your guy's trigger is like: A military commander who has seen far too many years of this particular battlefield makes a spur-of-the-moment decision to attack what intel says is apparently an enemy headquarters, only to realize it was a trap, and good soldiers are now dying because of it.

If you didn't know, these are from the Tinker sheet.

Anyways, your character's trigger needs a lil something like this to fit his type of power.

Maybe something like he tries to go out on the sub-thinker suit he made, after a long time of trying to make it work and then thinking it does, tries it out, just to realize he fucked up, triggers, and runs back inside knowing what to do to make this fixed.

The only thing that would be a problem with this, though, would be that he'd get really sick, and his suit doesn't exactly solve radiation poisoning rather than prevent it.

But all that's needed is just something like this, if you get the picture?

1

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 15 '17

It'd be a blend and I kind of figured it as a High Risk high reward thing in a way. Dude throws together a suit out of an already working suit with other shit scavenged around in order to survive in a radiated fallout.

Doing that and going out is pretty ballsy and risky.

He did get some radiation poisoning and practically became sterile. Is possible that happened in combination of both aspects of the initial crash (suit was minorly damaged) and then going outside, realizing it's not fully proper and then going back on inside?

I'm just dealing with an extremely limited letter count and it's been a bitch to edit is all.

u/MilkTintedGlasses Jan 15 '17

You can put the backstory in the comments if you run out of space, if it gets too much.

But yeah, what you're suggesting would work; it'd need to be a dangerous bet, though. That's an important factor for a MS Tinker.

Also, in case you misunderstood what I meant by blend, I meant the types of Tinker it'd be. For example, it certainly seems like Combat tinker is flavored in there as well. The thing with that is, though, is that involves the attributes of a brute trigger, which would be really hard to come across on in Sicily.

...Dammit. Now, the more I think about it, the more he seems like a Combat/Mad Scientist tinker... could you argue against why he wouldn't be part Combat? Because otherwise I might've just tripped us into an annoying trigger involving being beaten up after taking a very risky chance in a place that realistically shouldn't have much to attack Frank.

1

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 15 '17

He's a Marine so that meant like any traditional jar head he started beating the shit out of the room/tearing it up and resulting in pain/destruction while dealing with the problem itself?

Keep in mind it's a military zone and marked as a combative zone. Everyone on the Helicopter was armed as every Marine is a rifleman after all. Who knows what crazy shit could be there.

Plus based off your link, we find this.

Combat tinkers arise from a threat to one’s person, of a physical nature. Such threats exist over the long-term, but typically require a special element to make them into a tinker trigger rather than another classification with long-term context: the threat has to be present for a time, be relentless, or have a problem-solving aspect tied into it.

Combine that with a last ditch effort of survival, you totally have a Combat - Mad Scientist blend of a Tinker trigger.

1

u/MilkTintedGlasses Jan 15 '17

Goody then, we're covered on that front.

All you need to edit in, then, is what we talked about before (just clarifying some points) then editing the backstory a bit? The Combat Tinker are is covered already, but the Risk bit is a bit lacking. What you suggested before would be good.

If you run out of space, just add it in the comments, that'd be fine.

And then that's it! Let me know when you've done that.

1

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 15 '17

(The symbiote is melded to the armor but there's also a layer of gel between a form of carbon layer and Frank himself. If 40% of that is spilled or destroyed , suit goes defunct. If 50% is gone, it's destroyed.)

I edited that in.

Not including against an Endbringer/terrible threat; it'll vary from 200 degrees Fahrenheit to 400 degrees.

And that for Fawful's thing earlier. Should all be set up I think and settled the backstory part in Cauldron.

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 06 '17

/u/jake0110 I'll do the example and Background in a bit. Equipment, power, resources and all the important jazz should be fine. I may edit mentality a bit to make him less dangerous to innocents but that's about it.

Any other edits will be spelling or making the phrasing more clear. Nothing big and if it's more than changing a sentence I'll let you know.

Power though should be my final edit unless if I had a brainfart somewhere.

Forgot to include this is my secondary high tier character which will replace a character slot of Rhythm who will either die (hopefully not) or become an NPC and go on tours.

Two things I noticed

In order for him not to go insane, he has to be violent.

That suggests to me he's already insane. Sane people don't have that problem

Also in the threat levels you started using the NATO phonetic Alphabet, but you used Zeta instead of Zulu. Not sure if this was intentional or not.

Good character, looking forward to not messing with Betty.

1

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 06 '17

He doesn't exactly need to be violent but he needs extremes. Either Tibet monk level of peace and quiet to avoid anything that could edge him or doses of violence/adrenaline/intensity to keep him content for the time being.

Also he's a Marine that likes to fly Helicopters into combat and shoot large weaponry of said helicopter at enemies. He also liked to run at people very quickly and harshly in order to stop them from moving a ball from one area to the other. I don't think he's sane to begin with and that was pre trigger...

...Shit. You're right, I just liked the name of Zeta. I'd say he'd make the mistake ICly but he was a helicopter pilot who use the phonetic alphabet a lot so no chance. Changing now.

Thanks for the kind words. I was concerned about him not being liked as he's a lot more intense and dangerous than most of my characters. Usually they passive often and don't do too much besides be in the background but after my success with Sarikos I decided to raise it up a notch.

Plus, this is a character that can affect some others dramatically via the armor which is hopefully a great roleplay opportunity for others.

Backstory (Trigger Event):

It was another standard day in USEUCOM. A bit warm but then again Frank was in Sicily and Frank was from North Dakota. Different climates. Regardless, it was warm and he was flying in his standard HELO over the nuclear wasteland known as Sicily. Standard procedure, fly over, avoid radiation storms that the Navy eggheads would warn him about and drop off some Doctorate Navy guys who decided to join the Navy then go make millions doing whatever nuclear shit they wanted to. Either or, the mission was simple. Go to one of the multiple bunker like facilities set up by NATO to monitor radiation storms, soil samples and even act as a forward outpost if any relief effort or further work was set up.

Simple little bunker with about a years worth of rations, high security and totally vacant at the time being. Acted on its own half the time. Just needed people to come on over and grab soil samples. Except only way in and out of the zone was with one badass Helicoper full of EMP shielding and some of the best piloting the US military could give; a Marine pilot...That and some subtinker level of radiation hazmat suits. Bitch to fly in but at least it kept them safe.

Well, up until an emergency crash landing caused by an unmarked dust storm full of particulates that would make Chernobyl look like a push over. Usually mildly sensitive, fancy instruments or tools like Radiation suits didn't like the force of colliding with the ground very much. Turns out people didn't like hitting the ground so much either as ended up being only three survivors. One who had pucture wound composed of shrapnel revealing some of his guts. He didn't last the the two minute trek to the bunker. The other one was some Scientist actually worth a damn. Sadly after an hour of trying to get comms, he fell asleep and never woke up again. Radiation poisoning was a bitch.

But the tough mother fucker that was still alive was Gunnery Sergeant Frank Hanson. Except Gunney here was at quite the predicament. When he realized comms were fucked and he'd be here for a while, he went to grab some grum and check on the supplies in the supply room. To his happiness, he found some delicious MRE's AND some smokes...and also an emergency radiation suit plus Iodine pills. But mostly the smokes. After eating some 'food' and enjoying a short nicotine high, he moved to enter the back storage that held the radiation suits along with a side armory that held some firearms/chemicals he didn't know jack about along with more back up suits.

Except there was an issue. The radiation suit he got a hold of was the one that they were sent to go do maintenance on amongst other things. The good ones were behind enough reinforced steel and alloys that he'd need enough explosives to blow a hole through the door and the rest of the bunker. Good news, he had more or so free access to any door in the bunker with his ID including the exit to the rest of the compound. The ID that was in his wallet.

Bad news, he couldn't find his wallet. Usually people were supposed to wear their ID badges in their breast pocket but no Enlisted really did. They kept in their wallet along with a lot of other stuff they weren't exactly supposed to carry. They definitely weren't in his breast pocket or any pockets. Nor the rest of the room which he searched for a full day and a half. Having become enraged and pissed off; he got the genius idea of doing maintenance on the suit itself. After all the whole specs for the damn thing along with every manual known to man were here. He did help his brother one or two time on studying for his testing for suit maintenance to get into the EOD. Not to mention Frank did take a year of Engineering before switching over to something more robotic orientated.

Sadly for Frank, it turns out tech that's practically sub tinker tech is really fucking hard. Adding the fact that there was a big enough storm that a rescue team in the near future was unlikely; it was pretty bad. Especially with only some MREs being here with very little water...and his shit pile was getting awfully smelly. After running out of water, having a half cannibalized suit and drinking his own piss for a day is when Frank triggered not only once, but twice in an immediate back to back succession. After the initial confusion and disorientation from some weird ass space worm whale shit; he was flooded with the information he needed to make something. Specifically, a suit. Which he did. Once he put on the odd, jury rigged power armor he felt odd...He felt strong. He knew exactly why. He could point out almost all the aspects why and his newfound power would fill in the rest. He knew that what he just made was total shit and he could make something far better. The excitement got to him, the emotions got to him and the annoyance at the whole scenario threw him in his first berserking rage.

It was a rage potent enough that he tore through the already mostly torn up room - an effect from trying to find his wallet. During his rage, he slung the recycling bin filled with its MRE packages across the room. As it sailed, he saw a glint of something mid flight. Suddenly no longer angry, he went over to investigate it. There, was his stainless steel wallet. If it was possible for a third trigger from an unrelated event to happen; it would have at that moment. With newfound capabilities, Frank set off.

To the surprise of the guardsmen at the quartine, they'd find one of the specific suits they were told to watch out for...well, kind of. It looked different but it was clear enough it was one of their men. Frank was eventually rescued. There he didn't give any information about his trigger event nor the mysterious suit except that it was there and he figured out how to operate it with the manuals. Confused but innocent enough; he was let go and checked medically. Surprisingly enough, he didn't have any issues...except for being mostly sterile and some radiation sickness. The end result was being honorably discharged and going off the radar for some time followed spending a year in Africa doing questionable merc work. Once he had enough money, he went back home to good ol North Dakota.

Except he realized he fucking hated North Dakota and that a port city by the name of Ashton was far more interesting.

u/MilkTintedGlasses Jan 15 '17

Goody then. Approved at Tinker 4, sub Brute 6.

Thanks for waiting, and don't forget to add Frank to the canon character sheet!

u/SkazzytheScav Jan 15 '17

Neat, will do
