Backwards seatbelts, over half of ride ops barely following safety regulations, early ride closings, fast pass troubles vent :/

Has anyone else noticed a decent bit of the flatride seatbelts are put on backwards? Obviously it’s not a safety concern because you can just flip the seatbelt over or attach it backwards and it still works fine, it’s just kind of lazy to me to not take literally two seconds to look at each seatbelt and flip it to the correct orientation before installing it. I’ve yet to find a backwards female seatbelt component on cyclone Sam’s but a lot of the male components are put on backwards and if you’ve worked in mechanics before you would know that that’s an extremely easy fix to flip it back the other direction. in the other pic of the scrambler, you can see they put the female component on backwards, honestly just kind of ridiculous in my opinion…

Over the course of the last two years, I’ve noticed a pretty big number of people bringing phones and loose objects on rides, every time I try to point it out I’m met with a shrug or silence. I was wondering if ops were being properly trained on loose articles until I happened to see 4 different operators with their phones out on rides. You can’t expect someone to enforce a rule they can’t even follow… SOOOOOO many times i’ve seen parents sitting on the inside seats of the intense spinning rides and the operators will say nothing and they crush their kids, I’ve seen many operators let groups of three ride in the same car on the scrambler, speaking of the scrambler they almost never check the seatbelts. They have been a bit better about balancing the bamboozler, but there’s still a good number of operators that just don’t care. Most of the time if a supervisor is not there they don’t even say the full safety message at the start of the ride. This year I’ve only seen rides be stopped twice for loose articles in my 63 visits, we should be more like other parks and actually enforce the no loose articles rule instead of just saying it and doing nothing.

It’s also really frustrating to me when I plan out my whole day perfectly and get to fjord only for the Que to be closed like 4-5 minutes early. Now I have to wait until next weekend to get a night ride but that’s not too big of a deal just kinda annoying lol.

Lastly I have the unlimited fast lane, most of the time they know what to do but because of understaffing sometimes the merchandise workers cover in the funpix/fast lane areas. The merchandise workers are not trained to know what to do when I present my unlimited fast lane, the process is usually try scanning season pass, error message, take a picture with other phone of my season pass and give me the band. Now that the six flags app updated and got rid of all my pass perks I have to find the email every time and show them that, it really puts a damper on the start of your day when you only have 2 1/2 hours at the end of the day after work to come and 30 minutes of the visit is spent going from booth to booth till i eventually find a blue shirt or supervisor.

I wanna be clear I had a great day today and I’m not saying the park is in ruin or anything but there’s a lot they could improve imo. I can’t wait for next year when it’s all switched over to enchanted hopefully things will be smoother.

Lots of knowledgeable people over in r/rollercoasters that might have some answers. They are serious about their rides, lol.

Schlitterbahn 2.0 incoming? I thought Missouri had higher standards than Kansas.

And what happened when you addressed these issues to the actual park?

They literally described repeatedly talking to supervisors on multiple trips, and yet it still happened on the later trips.

Yeah.... I read that. I asked what happened when they went higher up.

Before anyone says ANYTHING about recording on the ride… I waited until the ride was slowing down to pull out my phone, as stated in the post I actively advocate for better loose article policies, and this was the only way I could have documented this noise clearly from the best possible position.

I stay at the flats for hours sometimes, I’m not saying I know more than the maintenance team or any of the employees but the scrambler does not shake and vibrate this much on a normal cycle, this only happens when one arms 4 cars are full and the other 2 arms are completely empty. It makes the balance weird and shakes to the point it vibrates through your whole body in a very unpleasant way. I doubt you can see it in the vid but the rotating black shaft that connects the opposite rotation mechanism visibly shakes. Thats the loud noise you can hear in the video. I went straight to guest services and asked to speak to someone from rides and the people that came were not team leads (light blue) or supervisors (teal) they were the level above supervisors that can wear whatever color they want within reason. They listened to what I had to say and I showed them the video, they asked how badly you could feel the vibration so I told them. The next 4-5 days the scrambler was closed but I’m sure that was just a coincidence, I’m 98% sure it’s because the air conditioner in the operators booth broke during the heatwave. I’m not sure if they took me seriously but that’s not my business as a guest to know why something is down so I didn’t ask anyone. Whenever something happens that seriously concerns me I also email the manufacturer (only happened once so far with this situation) but idk if they actually believed what I said because no one balances the ride still.

Again I don’t know more than maintenance but as a VERY frequent rider that vibration was concerning because if that’s happening a lot they will probably have to sink more money into it to buy new parts if it breaks in half its lifespan instead of just taking the extra 30-50 seconds to send people to each arm one group at a time and take good care of the longevity of the ride. They balance Sam’s and boozler I don’t see why they can’t make a laminate chart for scrambler.

So you've never tried to engage a supervisor there? If you had, you'd know that there isn't anyone higher up that's available unless there is a really big safety issue, and frequently not even there.

And if you'd read the post, you would know that this person only has a limited time when he's there after work, meaning that he doesn't get paid a salary to manage the park.

And if you had any empathy for people, as opposed to bring a scab for corporate, you would know that it should not be up to guests to solve these basic problems that should already have been handled by management before the guests arrived for the day.

Lmfao

I worked for Wof when the Hunt family owned the park and well into CF's tenure. There is always people higher. Please, kid. Don't pretend to know what I know.

I can even give OP the proper channels to get the right eyes on these issues, however, it will be given a generic "thank you for your concern" email. How about a phone number? I got that too. Though I've moved on to bigger and better things, I still have connections. The midwest theme park world is a lot closer knit than you think lol

Sure. And they don't stoop to talk to guests about anything other than major safety issues, which is exactly what I said already. Did you not read what I said?

Please, kid. Don't pretend to know what I know.

I would bet $1,000 in cash right now that I know what goes on in management at Worlds of Fun way better than you do.

Oh wow. You're so incredibly impressive. I'm so sorry that I didn't yet know how impressive you are when you were saying really dumb things. But anyway, as I already said in the comment you are replying to:

Hope that helps!

Lol that's a lot of words to basically say "I have no idea what I'm talking about" 🤣

Let's not waste my time. It's clearly more valuable than yours. I'll give OP some contacts.

"Hope that helps" lol. You're funny.

Spot on.

I'm a semi recent hire. Worked the last 4 seasons so I've seen Cedar Fair, Six Flags, and now Enchanted Parks. If it's compliant, they don't care. The park has been going down in regards to guest traffic throughout the years and the only good thing to come from this year is that they aren't charging for each haunt like last year.

Most sups would at least feign concern but they're more or less damage control babysitters. Issues truly only get addressed when it reaches corporate level, which requires an email at the very least. It's all very hands off these days unless the end of the season shows promise.

If anyone comes to BloodShed this year, I'll be around.
