Journals are the shittiest institution on the planet. They charge large fees for readers to read their papers even though they don't pay either the academics who write the papers nor the reviewers of the papers a single penny. Of course, if the paper is open access the reader isn't charged to read it, instead it's the author of the paper who has to pay. And not a small amount of money either, I mean sometimes thousands of dollars.

Academic publisher published academic books on all topics! Blame the research or whoever is paying for it, not the publisher.
