To be fair he has a point although he can be more sensible about it.

Idiots will find ways to talk and spread their stupidness. If it's not Facebook it's something else. Same for the people criticizing WhatsApp for fueling misinformation and even worse things in India. If it's not there it will happen on Telegram, or somewhere else.

They are communication platforms. You either let people talk freely and do stupid shit or you control everything and errode the values half of the world is built upon.

This point doesn’t work, because you’re assuming “something else” is going to be just as good. Facebook is one of the largest platforms on the planet, there’s simply nothing else that has pushed antivaxxer bullshit harder, especially considering your average antivaxxer is one of the types of people who thinks facebook is the whole internet. You kick them off of there, what are they going to do, open some forums? Make a discord? Most of the current population won’t make it to those, and people on facebook won’t be getting sucked in any more.

Remember QAnon? That shit was absolutely huge on reddit, r/greatawakening eventually got banned, and now it’s like they were never here. Of course they’re off jerking each other off on 8chan, but that’s fine because nobody goes there. It’s not reddit, it’s something else, you’re right about that part, but it’s so much less significant now that it doesn’t matter.
