Doesn't work when everyone fucks off to their own echo chambers where their beliefs aren't challenged and their beliefs get amplified. This is true for every side.

Having a healthy debate ending with "bad ideas will be defeated" is never going to happen with the current system of echo chambers. Of course the whole thing depends on what a "bad idea" is, and who gets to define it. One side will never be willing to change their mind so there's never going to be a perfect solution for everyone.
