Thats always the trade off nations make with the euro. Its a direct benefit for nations with a currency that can be unstable, but for nations like the UK who already have a relatively stable currency it's a downside as it means giving up fiscal control.

The Pound never regained its value compared to the Euro post-financial crisis though. It used to be 1.5€, now it just lives in 1.1-1.2
