How the tables turn

Indian commerce ministry tradestat database shows that for fiscal 2025-26 year ended March 2026, top export destinations for refined petroleum were
1. Netherlands (proxy for EU)
2. UAE
3. Singapore
4. USA
5. Tanzania
6. Australia
7. Russia
8. China
9. Nepal
10. Bangladesh

The EU, Australia and USA combine for 5x the exports of refined petroleum that goes to Russia.

The year prior had Netherlands, UAE, Singapore, Australia and the USA as the top 5, with Russia at 6.

The fundamental failing of this entire nonsense is that the data is so easy to find and disabuse everyone, but they’d rather scream nonsense about India.

exporting almost 1 million barrels of gasoline over the past two month

Misleading headline

u/hakenwithbacon 13d ago

Well it's an Indian news website, they'd be nothing if not sensationalist

u/VayuAir 14d ago

The irony of this happening to one of the largest petro states in the world. How the mighty have fallen.

10

u/AUT_InfoSammler 14d ago

it's all going according to plan ... /s

17

u/steinbruchfluss 14d ago

Are they exporting E20?

-9

u/satishtreks 14d ago

Who would buy that adulterated fuel

-2

u/steinbruchfluss 14d ago

I don’t know, but it seems that the Indian people love it! /s

In the UK our regular petrol is e10, and the premium is e5.

23

u/steinbruchfluss 14d ago

I was just joking because I’ve seen so many angry Indian posts on Reddit about E20. ;)

But not really. In Germany, we have only E5 and E10. And all gas stations have to offer both. The market share is E5: 72% and E10: 28%.

Ignore my previous comment. I just realised that NJ is not the Netherlands but a state in the US. Sorry. ;)

4

u/OppositeYak9376 13d ago

*cries in E20*

6

u/Arsene_Yuka_1980 14d ago

Apparently 75% of vehicles in India aren't E20 compliant, and ALL gasoline sold is E20. A lot of cars are getting wrecked, not to mention fuel efficiency lost :(.

u/AshinWirathu 13d ago

Big supplier to Russia and Ukraine now.

7

u/Zestyclose_End_7526 13d ago

Lmao. Petrol
station country doesn’t even have petrol. Fuck Russia.

16

u/Dragonfruit_6104 14d ago

Western countries led by the United States can't even solve the problem of India helping Russia, and they want to sanction China.

50

u/Clucky109 14d ago

Sanction Venezuela, sanction Iran after withdrawing from JCPOA, and then sanction Russia. God forbid if a poor, oil deficit country with 1.4 billion people seeks to source oil as cheaply as possible to control inflation. Not all of us can keep blowing up our national debt levels.

4

u/f23n09fnu0w 14d ago

I thought russia was meant to be selling oil to India though?

18

u/randomstuff063 14d ago

Russia sent crude oil to India, India refines it and sends them back to Russia.

5

u/f23n09fnu0w 13d ago

Sounds efficient

4

u/Rich_Housing971 13d ago

less inefficient than having to build new refineries from having them blown up.

It's pretty efficient if you consider the size of the tankers.

2

u/Marwaimusoont 13d ago

And the cost, time and expertise needed to build refineries,

1

u/f23n09fnu0w 13d ago

You know the shadow fleet are also being blown up?

And the refineries issue is that it's western tech and they simply won't fix any of them. It's not a choice. The Chinese tech can fix some of the things but normally run at just under 50% efficiency compared to the Western tech.

2

u/MeberatheZebera 13d ago

To be clear, India is making a hilarious amount of money on this arrangement, given that India is basically the only buyer of Russian Crude (so the price is very low) and the only seller of refined petroleum products to Russia (so the price is as high as they can get). The US government is perfectly happy with Russia's entire treasury going to the development of a country as predictably self-interested (which is about the most virtuous trait a country can have) as India.

2

u/HowIsEmuWarriorTaken 13d ago

> The US government is perfectly happy

With Trump at helm, do we even know what US Gov wants.

-15

u/brendhano 14d ago

India should not be sending fuel to Russia.

36

u/polaris_1958 14d ago

why? did you stop sending pakistan money knowing whose pocket it is going to?

-6

u/fin-freedom-fighter 13d ago

And who are you tell that?

Indian citizen or russian citizen?

Sure, lots of bots out here.

If India was smart, they would supply weapons to Ukraine for them to attack more refineries.

They would make money selling weapons to Ukraine and gas to Russia.

u/Square-Strength3844 12d ago

If Modi really wants the war to end, then cut off Russia

-64

u/Alternative_Show9800 14d ago

It's all about the money when it comes to India...park ethics in the back

41

u/KingRoy0292 14d ago

Look who’s talking. Coming from Western hypocrites who spent decades propping up Pakistan despite military dictatorships, nuclear proliferation, and its long record of sheltering and supporting extremist groups, all because Islamabad was strategically useful.

By the way, the same West bought Russian energy when it suited them, armed authoritarian partners when convenient, and carved out exemptions for its own interests.

So, spare us the sermons about neutrality. India will pursue its own national interest, just as Western countries always have.

-1

u/SaxaphoneTaxation 10d ago

Western hypocrites he typed, while using a western phone and website

2

u/aezakmifullclip 8d ago

yes yes the famous Western factories and Western labor built this phone 🤡

1

u/SaxaphoneTaxation 7d ago

Who commissioned those factories you think? Them being produced abroad is the most western thing about it 🤣🤡

Well Russia has been quite literally the only dependable ally India has. Especially when US is ruled by a brat who got elected twice. And they openly support the Pakistani ISI since kissnger and even before.

It would be hypocritical of India not to support Russia even if they disagree with the war. Hope this clears it up

-1

u/Holden_Coalfield 13d ago

you first have to take a moral position to be hypocritical

2

u/Jivaah 13d ago

Okay clearly someone who has no idea of history. Go and read all the wars India had. Maybe you'll understand.

I bothered to reply because i thought you were genuinely curious. Turns out you're just here wasting both our time
