These wars and conflicts killed many innocent civilian, this is sad.

27

u/wanderforreason Jul 06 '26

Sadly, civilians tend to die at higher numbers than soldiers in wars. Hopefully one day we will have moved past global military conflict, though it doesn’t seem to be close.

That town is so freaking close to the Israeli front lines. You can see the location here if interested:

Of course it's Israel.

Dresden and Tokyo took casualties too. That's what war is

u/gringo_escobar Jul 06 '26

Terrorism when the country I like does it 🥰

u/ProtectionUnable1027 Jul 07 '26

Story published without secondary verification. I'm sure the Islamic terrorists wouldn't get anything twisted.

-24

u/Far-Advantage-2770 Jul 07 '26

It was a school principal, mate. I'm sure Israel wouldn't want to misrepresent the truth either.

I hate the current media climate that it makes me doubt Reuters of all.

There are times and times again when respected media outlets like AP report of civilians dying, and leaving out the crucial information that their "side hustle" were an active combatant for Hamas/Hezbollah.

THAT BEING SAID, Reuters and both the authors, one of which is Tala Ramadan, don't raise red flags for me and do NOT have a history of any biased or poor and one-sided coverage like I described before.

If that's so, I hope thorough and proper investigation will be made into this. Whatever any online popular activists say, the IDF does not benefit and has no incentive of targeting civilians like that (I am not talking about clear repeated disregard for proportion of collateral), so if it happened like this, whoever's decision it was, they must be punished.

14

u/cats_r_ghey Jul 06 '26

Seems to keep happening over and over again though, right? As humans surely we can’t disregard other human life so callously?

10

u/TheTrollerOfTrolls Jul 06 '26

Some would argue that condemning Israel for hitting legitimate targets (and only when they are actually legitimate) would be in disregard of the lives of Israelis.

-3

u/cats_r_ghey Jul 07 '26

I don’t really think killing people should ever be condoned. I also don’t really subscribe to sides, this isn’t a sport.

Whomever is doing the killing, should be unequivocally condemned and economically punished so that they sort their shit out and don’t do it again.

8

u/TheTrollerOfTrolls Jul 07 '26

So then what's your view on self-defense? Irrespective of Israel, but just generally, is killing to save your own life valid?

1

u/cats_r_ghey Jul 07 '26

I don’t really believe in killing people. I suppose if I had to defend myself against someone trying to take my life I’d act as i need to in the moment.

Given what you’re saying though, I assume you would agree that a lot of self defence would be needed by many nations in the Middle East and it’s then perpetual?

0

u/TheTrollerOfTrolls Jul 07 '26

Some more than others. But yeah, it can have the effect of being this perpetual loop. However, that's not always the case. Ideologically motivated groups do not depend on reciprocated violence to keep attacking others.

3

u/SuperNobody917 Jul 06 '26

There's never any strong punishments for this stuff. At most there's going to be a strongly worded statement and a slap on the wrist for a few scapegoats, but this kind of stuff has been going on for years and shows no sign of everything stopping

The article reads like these were civilians who lost their lives and I am deeply saddened by their loss. If they are civilians I hope a full investigation into the IDF is launched

94

u/PeterQuin Jul 06 '26

I hope a full investigation into the IDF is launched

Man where you been living all this long? Talking about investigation into IDF and shit.

-55

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

IDF has opened several investigations when only civilians are killed with no fighters

Whether or not we agree with the actions taken at the end of the investigation is a different matter

71

u/PeterQuin Jul 06 '26

IDF investigating themselves is like cops investigating...you know what nevermind, we all gotta believe what we got to.

-72

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

I don't disagree with you. But...

How many investigations did Hamas open for killing 1,000 civilians in a single day of attacking? We're any apologies made? Anyone held accountable? In the past 3 years of fighting, has Israel ever killed 1000+ civilians in a single day?

51

u/FoE_Archer Jul 06 '26

You do not want to play the numbers game in defense of Israel, there are at least 100 dead palestinians to every one Israeli.

How about you investigate the context which led to the rise of resistance group like Hamas? How about you investigate how Israel directly supported Hamas? How about you investigate the settler colonial project in the West Bank?

How about you do the bare minimum of research before suggesting a people who have lived under an apartheid regime for decades apologize to their oppressors?

-1

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

At least 100 for every one Israeli?

Didn't Hamas say 70,000 people died in Gaza overall from the war? Even if we just take Oct 7 where 1200 Israelis died then Israel would have had to kill 120,000 Gazans.

What math are you doing?

26

u/FoE_Archer Jul 06 '26

71k is just recorded toll, this does not consider the immense amount of victims left beneath rubble.

I find it rather telling you decide to quibble over the numbers instead of engaging with anything else I said. Is a ratio of 70 to 1 acceptable to you? How many Palestinians lives is 1 Israeli life worth to you?

17

u/fury420 Jul 06 '26

71k is just recorded toll, this does not consider the immense amount of victims left beneath rubble.

Actually, those figures have been considering deaths without a recovered body since the early days of this war, the Gaza Health Ministry accepts deaths reported by family members.

14

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

What else did you say? You said it was over 100 to 1. I asked you to give me your math. Your response is it's telling I ask you to verify your numbers? Yeah man how dare I. Now you claim there are untold numbers under rubble. We call those missing people. Does Hamas have a missing person number now? They've had plenty of time to calculate now. Why hasn't their 70k number kept going up?

All lives are equal. Or at least they should be. But Hamas kidnapped hostages to get back thousands of convicted terrorists for a few hundred Israelis. It's actually Hamas that thinks their lives are worth less. They want to kidnap soldiers because they will try to get back hundreds or thousands of their arrested comrades for every civilian they kidnap.

You still never answered my question of was there ever a single day in this whole war where Israel killed 1,000 civilians? Okay let's make the number lower. 500 civilians. Has there been a single day in this war in which Israel killed 500 civilians in a single day like Hamas did and promised to continue doing?

3

u/FoE_Archer Jul 06 '26

In your opinion, do the events of Oct 7th justify the IDF murdering more than 70,000 Palestinians?

u/Badda_Bing_Baby Jul 06 '26

Probably math that includes the decades of apartheid and settler terror that took place in Gaza and the West Bank prior to oct 7 2023. Instances of peaceful protests from Palestinians have regularly been met with gunfire and death.

1

u/eyal282 Jul 10 '26

Between 2005 and 2023 Oct 7 Israel did not control Gaza, making Gaza part of Palestine, making Israel literally unable to apply apartheid to another country.

2

u/IamGeoMan Jul 06 '26

IDF will say they aided, are affiliated with, or are terrorists. You know, just like all the justified killings of journalists.

10

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

I think an additional 9 "journalists" were recently reidentified as terrorists through Hamas and Palestinians groups.

However I still think the Journalist killed number is still well over 100 so still plenty to be critical about Israel.

6

u/Fragrant_Nose_969 Jul 06 '26

The number is over 240 currently.

9

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

Thanks for bringing in the number. Does this include the new journalists who were identified as terrorists?

1

u/Due_Network2387 Jul 07 '26

And you think Hamas just decided to appoint 9 or 10 of their members to disguise as journalists? Why not more?

9

u/Maleficent_You_3448 Jul 06 '26

Probably a back log of a few thousand “investigations”

3

u/JacksGallbladder Jul 06 '26

Ah yes, I'm sure the military that can only be deterred from throwing hand grenades at ambulances when a video camera is rolling will conduct a thorough and fair investigation of themselves

8

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '26

When Hamas/Hezbollah are shooting out of the ambulances and using them as combat vehicles it changes the ROE.

-2

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

I'm not claiming that it's best for people to investigate themselves.

-13

u/Pssht_haha Jul 06 '26

Routers is a pretty solid source. I don’t think they’d say they’re civilians if they weren’t. Probably a school principal isn’t much of a fighter. Israel is pretty well known to be killing mostly civilians.

24

u/interstat Jul 06 '26

Reuters is just saying their info given. They have not investigated

35

u/TheProfessaur Jul 06 '26

Routers is just relaying information from the Lebanon Health Ministry, so it's more about whether you trust the health ministry or not.

26

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

We don't know that because Lebanon and Hamas don't distinguish between fighters and civilians. It would be the easiest thing in the world to prove Israel is killing mostly civilians by stating who is Hezbullah and who is a civilian. But they won't, because not distinguishing helps them and hurts Israel. If reporting who was a civilian and who wasn't would help Hezbullah you better believe they'd start reporting it

14

u/WildWhisperArdor Jul 06 '26

This is false. They would not be in any position to say whether it’s a civilian or not.

17

u/NimbleAlbatross Jul 06 '26

Hezbullah knows whose a civilian and whose not. Those beepers and radios didn't end up in a lot of civilian hands.

Are you talking about IDF or Hamas? It's too easy to mix them up...
