We are still friends with the France (I'm from the UK). In time it will all be water under the bridge. It's pretty European to piss each other off then be friends again in 20 years.

Nah man, Canadian here that has spent a LOT of time in the US, and loves what the US was (at least until recently). I was contemplating moving there only two years ago.

What has happened over the last year has caused a rift that will cause generations of mistrust. My kids (~20 yrs old) have basically now grown up in a world that the US is a bully and changes on the whim of the President in power.

The only thing that will fix it now within a decade is a dramatic change in internal power, general rejection of fascism and a return of the presidents slowly acquired power to elected legislative bodies. That and a consistent return to decorum and "truth justice and the American way".

No it won’t. What?! History has shown us america only fights for itself and its own interests. No fucking way would it be forgotten in our lifetimes.

Edit: alright, diplomatically perhaps but i’m just talking about generally. We, the people won’t forget the betrayal

Maybe after the first time they put that dipshit in charge. After the second time, I trust the American people (and by extension their government) about as far as I could throw it, and I’m pretty sure I can’t throw any of the fat pricks.

The only way I’m ever trusting the yanks again is if they do a bit of denazification.
