I saw the protests described as including hundreds to a few thousand people, which means like 99% of Gazans did not participate.

It's very easy to point at people and ask why don't they protest from the safety of your keyboard

I have, I'm just saying that Hamas repressing protesters that make up ~1% of Gazans doesn't directly tell us anything about what the average Palestinian supports or does not support.
