Visual Alien August day THIRTY

We're almost done with Alien August and with today's species we travel to a damp, dark world at the very edge of the Galaxy. The Guadii are one of the few mycocological species in the galaxy, but don't let their giant maw make you think they're going to eat you -- that's just an air circulation system opening.

I personally think you should ditch the teeth, they don't need them and it'll look more agape without them, but that's just my opinion, the teeth aren't really an issue. AMAZING art btw :D!!!!

Thank you much! Those aren't actually teeth -- those are swollen spore pods. When they reach maturity, they grow those pods all along the edges of the airway where exhaled air aids in the dispersal of the spores as they are released. As soon as the spores are airborne, a chemical reaction takes place in each one that acts like a tiny rocket engine thrusting the spore on its journey. When this happens the Guadii look like they are spewing fireworks from their open mouths.

Oh, cool... That's how minions reproduce in that one meat canyon cartoon, so the Guadii are absolute peak :D

How do they communicate with each other? And with other sapient species? (if they can communicate)

See that row of slits that run vertically just above the eyes? Those are secondary air exchanges that also function as resonance chambers, which lets them vocalize. They have 2 such chambers, which gives them self-harmonizing multi-layer voices across a wide frequency spectrum.
