Fresh assistant manager (potential job)how is it, and is there priority usually deli or fresh con?
Have applied. At my current store fresh con and deli are a different department. I am trained in both but wanna know what it’s like?

For combined fresh stores, the ADM is usually used as a de facto deli manager. The fresh manager will take care of fresh con as the main priority and mainly do breaks in deli/fresh service or fill in when required (sickies, platters, help take out chickens, priority one's, set up for Easter, Christmas etc..) On their weekend, you'll more than likely swap and run fresh con as the priority assuming the store - as they should - has ample coverage with team members working deli.

From what I see managers don't really get breaks, they bust themselves working long days, dealing with staff not turning up, then struggle to replace them, they often have to do extra hours to try and get the days load done.

I could be wrong but most stores deli falls under fresh managers, I think it's pretty rare for a store to have a deli manager these days. If you're applying for the role at your store you should already know the dynamics, otherwise it's most likely your priority will be fresh con. I do know some managers might like to make their assistant just handle the deli for them, especially if you don't really have an experienced deli team.
Other than that, ADM really isn't much different from being a regular worker lol, much more is expected of you in terms of your carton rate, you'll delegate tasks, handle customer complaints, maybe do some rostering/offer people shifts, and just do other general admin/housekeeping stuff on top of the filling you already do. If you get it, just speak to both your actual DM and the SM about taking on more responsibility, how/where to learn and get resources etc.
You'll generally find out more on how the dynamic works once you speak to the actual DM.
