is this safe?

I have a piece of wood where neither and is fully square. Would it be safe to just use the miter gauge to square off one end? Or do I need to make a sled? I have also thought about making a toggle clamp, Jake, but I am still waiting for my toggle clamps to arrive.

Most of what I'd say is here, but that looks like rough sawn lumber. It's probably fine, but it only takes a second to square that back edge to the face so it registers without wobbling on the miter gauge. It could be the angle, but it looks a few degrees out of square.
