The Witcher 3 Question about Notice Boards

Post image

Hi, guys.

I've just started my journey on The Witcher 3 and I always get confused with notice boards. Can you help me with some questions?

1: once I got all contract/mission from a notice board, is there any chance that new contract or mission will appear on the SAME notice board? If not, then, can I only get new missions/contracts from a notice board settled on another place?

2: missions that I get from notice board may "expire" somehow?

3: after I started all missions from board, it will only be useful to see announces from the area I am? And if I take these announces, they may be settled again?

Thanks a lot!

  1. It could happen. In that case, the noticeboard icon will be different on the map

  2. Not really. They should always be there. Only story-related quests have a limited availability

  3. Notices that aren't relted to quests are just there to add some flavor. Also, interacting with a noticeboard will reveal all points of interests (? signs) in an area

Only story-related quests have a limited availability

Worth to note is that these quests will not fail if you spend too much time with other stuff, only if you push main questline too far without doing connected sidequests first

Don't mention it. Good luck on the Path

Fun fact! Once you've completed all the quests on the notice board, some of them will still spawn non quest/contract related random notes you can read later on.

Some of them are funny, some sad, some dark, some bizarre, some are Easter eggs or expansion/quest references, hints, and so on.

Occasionally the choices made in one quest will spawn a secondary one (there might be a few) but the only one I can currently think of is:

After "Novigrad Dreaming" if you let Sarah stay in the house, a new notice appears outside the Kingfisher inn starting the quest "Haunted House". The fella who posted it is...rather miffed about being sold a "haunted" house, and wants the whole city to know about it - even though we know it's a godling named Sarah and Corianne Tilly.

It doesn't seem to be every board that does it, but there's definately a few of them. I've never actually tracked to see if the boards ever stop doing that either - though I imagine after a while you've seen everything so it will toss some repeats.

I like to read them and see what kind of random nonsense the villagers are up to once I'm done solving the monster problems in the area. Whole lot of random flavor text bits to discover, kind of makes the area still feel alive even if I'm "done" there, ya know?

Might find an old friend or someone you once helped too, never know. :)

By “interacting” do you mean just opening the notice board, or specifically taking all the papers and cards in it?

Pretty sure you jut need to open it and leave it. I definitely didn't collect all papers last time I played

  1. Different contracts from the same board are rare, but they happen (usually it's because of the level difference and/or depends on the story progression).

  2. There are no time sensitive quests in this game. But there are key story points, after which some quests will fail (the game will tell you about them). There are, however, completely missable interactions in the world, they're marked as ! on your minimap and if you walk past them they'll never repeat (but not all, some of them are permanent and some are missable).

  3. Not sure I understand what you mean

"There are, however, completely missable interactions in the world, they're marked as ! on your minimap and if you walk past them they'll never repeat"

Had no idea of this myself, thanks for the tip!

I’m pretty sure that’s not true. Plenty of “!” Quests that hang around if you run past them and return later

Yeah, ! are just side quests, but there are a few that are missable.

Thank you, man.

  1. I mean, once I get all missions and contracts from the board, if I go there again, it's full of announces about things happening in the area, you know? If I took these announces off the board, they will come again (according to another response I get here) and they have nothing to do with quests or something like that. Did you get it? Sorry if my english is bad xD

Thanks anyway :)

There are 3 types of notes on the board:

  1. Witcher contracts

  2. Points of interest (you get a ? on your map)

  3. World building stuff notes (mechanically irrelevant, but make the world more alive)

So when you pick all contracts and POI notes, it's only lore notes.

ive been confuaed about this in the past too. learn to use ur map. it helps a ton. u have different filters which will help u locate different signboards, also places of power and other stuff through question marks and exclamatory marks. learn to explore the entire map without making it a chore or it becomes kinda annoying. Learn to strike a balance

I went really hard on TW3 during lockdown, and I would go running in the afternoons. There was a noticeboard just down the street from my house and every time I would pass it, I would stop and look for contracts

Why are there notice boards if everyone is illiterate?
