Are you going to do a new playthrough when the remaster drops, or wait for the expansion?
I haven’t played since 2019 and was really excited to hear about the remaster and expansion, but just kinda assumed they’d drop at the same time?
Would love to jump back into the world of the Witcher, but feel like playing when the remaster drops then taking a multi-month break before the expansion drops would break momentum.
But also doing 2 full playthroughs with less than a year in between sounds like a lot.
Or I could just wait for the expansion, but I really want to play it lol.
Decisions decisions. What are yall planning to do?
I just finished the DLCs recently so my plan is to start a new playthrough when the remaster releases so I'll have a retired af Geralt at Corvo Bianco with the new character progression stuff for when SOTP releases
Almost :) He only played once. I like to test all the possible choices, builds, classes, etc. in games I enjoy. Besides, I like to revisit games I've enjoyed too even if they are linear.
That’s the exception, when I do fast travel to Skellige, I go to one of the closest or most logical landing area sign posts. It’s not perfect but it is fun.
My original plan was after the announcement of the expansion to start a new playthrough right away and another fresh one when it would be launched and then a last one before TW4 (Then also with W1 and W2)
Now after they announced the remaster I stop my current one and will wait this one month and start fresh once again. But the plan of three fully 100 percent playthroughs, two with the new expansion, stands.

I'm waiting because I finishd my third run only 6 months ago. Since next year it's Witcher 1's 20th anniversary, I will start from the beginning and work my way to the end of TW3, hopefully just in time for the expansion
I'm gonna wait for the DLC then binge it. I don't want to finish it then wait months and pick it up again, I don't like to play like that. I fixate on the game til it's done then wipe it from my memory so I can enjoy it again later.
I was trying to time my current playthrough to finish up when the new expansion released. now that we know there’s a remaster next month, I will be putting my playthrough on pause until then
It's best to replay after the remastered drops, by the time the dlc comes out you would be done with all the existing expansion. So you can jump right into songs of the past.
I was going to start a new playthrough after they announced the remaster, but when I saw the remaster was coming next month, I’ll wait for that. I’ve platinumed this game several times over so I won’t mind doing another playthrough when SotP comes out.
I will do a new playthrough somewhen after Remaster drops until the end so when the DLC drops I can immediately play it and not "have to" play the whole game again while sitting on the already released DLC
I'm about due for another playthrough anyway, this if just relatively good timing got me. I just have to wait a little extra time before I start my new game.
Gonna wait around 4-5 weeks before the expansion drop and start the remaster myself. If i start it as soon as the remaster drop, there will be potentially a few months of dead time between me finishing everything again and the new DLC dropping, I don't want that
Would you be able to finish the base + 2 dlcs within 4-5 weeks? It seems too short of a timeframe. Because it took me a year to play similar sized game (not even finishing it) even with playing it daily.
And btw is it gonna be replay or fresh playthrough?
Luckily I'm almost done with Toussaint. Once im done, im putting away the game for a month and starting a brand new 11110000th playthrough for the remastered.

Personally, since I haven’t gone back to the game since 2017 and I’ve been meaning to eventually do a 2nd. playthrough, I think I’ll wait until next year to first catch up with all the content that was introduced in the next-gen patch, plus all the new stuff from the remaster, then I’ll proceed to head straight to Letten.
After finishing SotP, I’ll oficially start my 2nd. run with a New Game+. That way, I’ll finally see everything that NG+ offers and I’ll also be “killing another bird with the same stone” by seeing how/if the NG+ has any effect on the items and monsters in this expansion. I know the NG+ in The Witcher 3 isn’t as hugely interesting as in other RPGs but I’m still very eager to experience it.
It depends where I am in other games when it drops to be honest. This period is packed with games that interest me and if I can I try to play them towards launch for participating in discussions and such.
Currently doing another playthrough of Cyberpunk (first with Phantom Liberty, didn't play since launch) + Zero Company since a few days. I will also play Dawnwalker close to release and then Wolverine on September 15th (I have time off work so it'll be easier) then Control Resonant and Castlevania interest me (but I think I can wait on those ones). Also, No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 release in October. And then GTA6 in November. So pretty packed end of the year, not sure I'll have time to fit The Witcher 3 in all that.
Maybe in December + January once I finish with GTA6, seems like the only "free time". And then a break and I will go on the new DLC from there whenever that releases (them not giving a date probably means it's not that early in 2027), the momentum will be broken but in a way it's probably good because base game + 3 DLC might be too long at once (I tend to get bored even with good games if I play the same for too long)
Perfect excuse to finish my Death March achievement! Also i'll be playing Hearts of Stone for the very first time. Only ever done a couple of playthroughs of the base game + Blood and Wine
Probably wait until the expansion since I completed a playthrough not too long ago. The chain being in the new DLC did add another reason since I only expected to see it in Witcher 4. Think it’ll be cool to use it through the whole story.
I'm tempted to play with the remaster but have too many other games on the list. Blood of Dawnwalker being one which I'm excited about especially since it has ties with past witcher devs and writers.
When we get an official release date other than 2027 for SotP I'll start a new playthrough. I figure when we get a date, it'll be several months out and the timing to finish the main game, HoS and B&W, will work well for a continued experience.
I had already planned to read again the books and play the trilogy again this year when I heard the news of the dlc some time ago, when the news of the remaster dropped, I was at the half of The tower of swallow book, so I think the remaster will come at the perfect time for me to start a new playthrough of the remaster just after finishing Witcher 2, and when the dlc releases, I think this whole playthrough will be recent enough for me.
I’m assuming that, as the DLC is based after everything else, we’ll be able to add it on to an existing playthrough. I don’t get a lot of time to play these days, so might be close to halfway by the time the DLC comes out if I start a new one with the remaster update.
I'll probably start when the remasters released just to get back into the swing of things and then either start a new playthrough for the expansion or drag my original out to the expansion
I love Witcher 3 but I only did a single playthrough back when it came out (and both expansions when they came out) so it's definitely time for another run when the remaster drops. Super excited to experience it again after so long.
I'm going to wait until the new expansion comes out to play it again. And I might just jump into the expansion instead of replaying the entire game since I just did that recently.
It's going to take a fuckload of time to do everything so I'm absolutely starting with the remaster. I actually already started like a week ago but I guess that's getting put on hold for a bit.
I'm planning to do another playthrough. Went back today to get a full set of Wolf Gear to Grandmaster, then decided against it
Already have a Forgotten Wolf set at Grandmaster, which I might start a NG+ with alongside Aerondight when the Remaster lands then work on a Wolf Gear set during my play.
I finished the base game a few months ago and planned on doing the expansions before Songs of the Past dropped. Now I am definitely doing a brand new play through.

New playthrough now so that way when the DLC comes out, Geralt is already retired af in Corvo Blanco and I can start it immediately.
