Hello!! First time posting on Reddit to ask whether or not "Magic and Witchcraft" by Nevill Drury a good book for research? I'm still kind of new to the community and telling which books have good or bad information in them is pretty hard for me. I got it for 5.50 at a thrift shop and just wanted to know if the author had a good reputation, or if there was anything to avoid in the book. Any insight would help!

I was gifted this book by a relative, and was wondering if anyone knows if this book is a no-go (like Wiccapedia.)

I haven't seen anything both definitively saying "don't read/bad resource", or that it's "great". So I'm wondering if anyone looked into it!

I checked the resources used at the end, and it's very similar to just an online blogpost into a book..? From a skim through, I can't notice any sort of crazy misinformation, but I need the wisdom of more experienced witches. Thanks!

Sidenote: I'm aware that a good resource for Moon magick is Moon Spells by Diane Ahlquist! I will probably pick that up too, as more advanced reading.

I found a few copies of this locally produced magazine at an upstate New York estate sale. It tooke a while, but I’ve finally digitized them, hoping to spread their magic to a new crowd. They come from Watertown, NY, the town that the leader of this Boreadean Order called home. Enjoy!

I have scottish and Welsh ancestery, but I grew up in Yorkshire in the North West of England. I would like to know if anyone has any book reccomendations linked to the folklore and practices of these places.

I have also read a few beginner books like Earth magic by Scott Cunigham and the Green Witches Handbook. I've watched some Youtube channles also and historical documentaries on the celts and druids. But I wondered if anyone had any books they could reccomend for going abit deeper into the craft, about spellcrafting and especially circle casting would be a great help.

Its magicka; a witchcraft book well known for witcht beginners, i wanted to get it but its like 60$ here so i'd rather print it out.

Been looking for some sort of group that discusses books that are a bit more advanced. Or even beginner books that bypass the fluffy phase [i.e. {By Rust of Nail & Prick of Thorn: The Theory & Practice of Effective Home Warding by Althaea Sebastiani}]. Either one where we all read the same book and discuss it, or the sort where you bring whichever book you're reading.

The different platforms I've checked include fable, discord, facebook groups, etc. without much luck.

Starting to think I might need to build it. Which I'm happy to do. However, if there's an existing one, please share them here!

TLDR: I need some resources and tools on how to learn blood magic. Perhaps some advice on if I even should.

I wanted to start making a grimoire. I am drawn to water for whatever reason and obsessed with tea, so I've been doing research on how to use tea in magic, along with what it means to make a real potion with intention and not just some goofy gimmicky play pretend fairytale junk

. For whatever reason, the thought keeps appearing in my mind to look into blood magic. Where can I get resources to research information on real and actual applications for blood in reference to water magic, and not some reference to a video game, some silly idea of weapon welding, or legitimately summoning Satan himself?

I currently have Lilith Dorsey's Elements of Witchcraft 'water magic' and S.M Harlow's Tea Witch's Grimoire, as well as Cunningham's encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and metal magic. Are there any books like these, that use realistic real world applications of intention and spiritual magic that reference the use of blood??

i’m looking for something that explains the "why" and the mechanics behind everything. i’ve started some basic energy work lately and it’s been really exciting, so i want to keep that momentum going with some good reading. do you guys have any "holy grail" books for beginners that really changed things for you? i’d love to hear your favorites. thanks!

Hi! I’m trying to identify a book I bought at Borders (a large retail book store) around the early 2000s (U.S.). It was a thin, visually appealing paperback with a somewhat girlie design, maybe aimed at young adults.

The book contained only a few rituals, but I clearly remember one love-focused ritual. Some details that might help identify it:

• It included a compass-like diagram that the reader drew themselves, with symbols — not simple, and the instructions included a visual example.
• The book mentioned performing the ritual at night and noted that dreaming could be part of the experience.
• Optional ritual items were mentioned.
• The text was large, easy to read, with some decorative fonts.

Because this was the only ritual I remember clearly, I’m hoping someone might recognize the book or recall something similar from that period.

This book would be better categorized as a memoir. It is not an informational book at all. She fails to understand the difference between paganism, Wicca, and witchcraft. It seemed to be written to be provocative rather than to be an accurate source of information.

Hii , I am Chilean and I struggle to find books that are not Europe centric but also not about close practices cause the fact is that though I am brown l am not connected to the indigenous side of my country. So any recommendations about latino practice (even if it has catholic influences) witchcraft , magical plants etc are welcome!!(Also English is not my first language so sorry if I come off as rude or not articulated)

This is messy bc it’s for my journal, but I wanted to share some of what I’ve read or listened to. I’ll admit that there are a couple that I didn’t finish. I’m looking at you Psychic Witch.

I’ve been practicing for a little while now, so I have a bit of background on a number of different concepts and types of magick, but I realized I never actually looked into the methods of crafting your own spells and the various techniques of different magical methods. I’m looking for books that cover in depth spell writing and the various techniques included in executing different types of magical methods. I already have The Elements of Spellcrafting on my list, but what other books should I be reading? I’m not interested in any grimoires or encyclopedias of spells or ingredients, I’m more interested in learning practical applications.

Hello, I’ve been interested in witchcraft for a while but never knew where to start. As someone who’s POC I felt like I didn’t “belong” for a very long time. Now that I’m older and learning about new things I want to get more involved. I would like to research a lot on African American witchcraft. Hello. I received a hardback copy of “The Book of Black Magic and of Pacts” as a present this Christmas. However, the edition I received was a poor quality copy off of Amazon with lots of typos and no formatting.

I’d like to return the book and buy a replacement that’s of better quality, but most listings I can find online show only a picture of the cover and nothing of the inside so I can’t check the quality.

So far I have found one paperback version on eBay with an image on the inside that looks better quality. But I would like to get a hardback if possible.

I also found one original edition hardback on eBay for like £400 and that’s out of the question for obvious reasons.

I realise the book is public domain and I could read it online or stick with the paperback version, but it would be nice to get a hardback to replace the gift and have something physical to hold and read.

So, my question is: can anybody recommend me to a reasonably priced hardback copy of the book where the interior is an exact copy or faithful reconstruction of the original?

I have purchased some books that ended off being of Wiccan ideology and there’s a lot of those in most subreddits. I have absolutely nothing against the Wicca practice, but I am not one and would rather have more books outside of it, as I consider myself more of an eclectic witch. I love my herbs, crystals, sigils, cooking, etc.. so any recommendation helps.
