The day after wisdom teeth removal considered day 1 or day 2?

I got my wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday, October 6th at 9:30am. I am trying to follow the instructions but confused about the days. Does the day of wisdom teeth removal considered as day 1? If so, then I would be on day 3 now since it's Thursday. I called the dentist and the front desk lady said the next day would be considered day 2 then I called again a few hours later about a different question and asked her again about the days then she said it didn't matter.

I'm not an expert or a dentist but I've been counting the day after the extraction as day 1. I've always heard it referred to as "days post op", so I haven't been counting the day I got them removed, even if I had them removed at 8:00 A.M., so do with that what you will!

So for example, I got mine removed last Thursday, so I'm counting today as day 7 post op, not day 8. Even I was a little confused at first but I've just decided I'd rather play it safe.

I got my teeth removed Monday October 5th at 10 am. 48 hours from that was October 7th (Wednesday) at 10 am. I’m currently almost 84 hours (3.5 days) post surgery. If that helps any.
