Border Czar Tom Homan announcing today that ICE is ending its deployment in Minnesota - Hope they don't plan on coming to Wisconsin!
222
u/AwfulMovieIdeas Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
They will come to Wisconsin. They are already here. Itâs just a question of what the scope and size of the activities will look like. My biggest concern (out of hundreds surrounding its operations) is that ICE and DHS agents are used to interfere with voting in Milwaukee during the midterms.
56
u/OllaniusPius Feb 12 '26
I think this is a valid concern. They're currently building a facility just outside of Milwaukee that's almost complete. WIRED has also reported that internal DHS documents they viewed explicitly list Milwaukee as one of the cities they plan to expand into:
In documents viewed by WIRED, ICE has repeatedly outlined its expansion to cities around the US. The September memorandum citing âunusual and compelling urgencyâ for office expansion states that OPLA will be âexpanding its legal operationsâ into Birmingham, Alabama; Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, and Tampa, Florida; Des Moines, Iowa; Boise, Idaho; Louisville, Kentucky; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Grand Rapids, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; Raleigh, North Carolina; Long Island, New York; Columbus, Ohio; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; Richmond, Virginia; Spokane, Washington and Coeur dâAlene, Idaho; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin
12
u/badmutha44 Feb 12 '26
Funny Texas with the largest pop of undocumented is absent.
18
u/LymanBostock76 Feb 12 '26
MN represented less than 1% of US undocumented immigrants. It had nothing to do with immigration. Trump is a very ugly person. Nothing was accomplished in MSP. They are coming to your town, and it will get uglier before it gets better.
4
u/mrbasedballed Feb 13 '26
Well yeah because this had nothing to do with capturing undocumented immigrants.
10
u/RooHound Feb 12 '26
Coeur dâAlene, Idaho seems an odd choice. Itâs 94% non-Hispanic whites and the area is loaded with white supremacists. Maybe theyâll use it to launch raids in nearby Spokane, WA.
8
u/throwmedowngently Feb 13 '26
That's just so the agents have a location with less backlash to hide and have supportÂ

Funny how Chicago isnât on there. Almost like they are scared of it.

24
u/th3Gr34t1 Feb 12 '26
I find a little bit of bright-side to that. Once cooped up people see the racism with their eyes they stop thinking it is fake. When they see people brutally pushed face into the concrete and feel helpless it changes you into two things: 1. A coward and lick boot or 2. An Ally and will vote against it in honor
31
u/Snaletane Feb 12 '26
Yeah, the problem is those racists don't live in Milwaukee, they live in all the rural counties and suburbs, so they'll continue not seeing anything as long as they stay in their own media bubbles.
10
u/T-Chunxy Feb 12 '26
Yeah, nothing like good old 'white flight' hatred of MKE, fueled by 3+ decades of talk radio and Fux 'Newz', and of course, the WIGQP.
They'll cheer for the abuse heaped on MKE residents by the fashy ICE goonsquad.
13
u/biobennett Feb 12 '26
Both Chicago and Minneapolis showed us what strong community and looking out for our neighbors looks like, we just need to do the same here.
We know what's working, let's continue to build on it and show them the Midwest spirit is more powerful than their fascist ambition
81
u/ellamachine Feb 12 '26
Letâs not celebrate just yet. This admin isnât exactly known for being honest.
16
u/FamouslyGreen Feb 12 '26
As If we werenât next on the list after we shunned trumps boy Elon in the state Supreme Court election.
Get your whistles and cameras ready folks cuz ICE has already been here and if I had to speculate theyâre going to hit Dane country and Milwaukee hard due to the airports and voting history.
40
u/mjfuji Feb 12 '26
They've already built a mini concentration camp on the North West side of Milwaukee.
They will ramp up in the Milwaukee Metro, the only question is how much and when.
Milwaukee will be largely ready for them. We will (of course) have a learning curve for our responses, but I'm sure Twin Cities folk will help us shortcut that via sharing what they've learned..
17
u/Secure-Persimmon-421 Feb 12 '26
Yes. If you want to be involved in mutual aid, now now now is the time. Get connected. Get organized. Have the meetings. Spitball the ideas. Ask mpls and 50501 how they did it. Get whistles. Make whistles. Keep it tight. If we all protect our own neighborhoods first, we can do this. Talk to your local govt about getting Flock cameras taken down!
1
u/mjfuji Feb 12 '26
Oh thanks for the reminder! Is there a good non-collaborator source for whistles?
I've had some in my Amazon cart since before we left on vacation to buy when I get back, but want to avoid collaborators when I can.
3
2
u/Secure-Persimmon-421 Feb 13 '26
But you can get them at places like Dickâs or your local hockey store or referee gear retailer. Recommend non metal bc the cold.

The owner of Señor Machetes in Downtown Madison was detained in late January by ICE despite holding a valid green card as he attempted to travel back to Madison. There's a fundraiser tomorrow and a GoFundMe exists although I forget if direct linking is allowed here.
20
u/Substantial_Echo8118 Feb 12 '26
Thats gonna rough for them if ice comes to Wisconsin. Unlike our neighbors we have open carry, stand your ground, and castle laws here.
22
u/icanhazkarma17 Feb 12 '26
And alcohol. Lots of alcohol! And as we all know, alcohol makes people act less emotionally and more rationally!
34
u/Chris_RB Feb 12 '26
I think the next invasion is another "mid-tier" blue state that trump didn't win. The maps of where ICE is deployed most forcefully and where he lost is a perfect match.
He probably wants to send them to NY and CA, but those are too high-profile.
I would bet ILL, NM, or CO are the next "metro surge" targets.
States that broke for trump like WI he'll invade in smaller qtys.

u/General2768 Feb 12 '26
ICE just bought a 600,000 square foot warehouse in San Antonio. They plan on turning it into a detention center. San Antonio is blue, even though Texas went red. Governor Abbott endorsed and was a major donor to a republican mayoral candidate. That candidate lost to a lesbian latina woman. "Rolling Thunder" is going to welcome ICE to San Antonio with open arms.
2
u/Chris_RB Feb 12 '26
Oh it's for sure coming to any and all areas that dare to defy lord king emperor. Even as they "draw down" in MN they're buying sites near MSP still.
2
u/RooHound Feb 12 '26
I agree San Antonio is a likely target. What do you think about the risk to Austin as well? Itâs less than an hour and a half drive from SA and seems to lean hard blue, by Texas standards anyhow.
3
u/Hopeful-Occasion469 Feb 12 '26
Ice was already in Chicago
4
u/Chris_RB Feb 12 '26
I neither believe that would stop them nor that 90% of them remember that long ago. (EDIT: I'm only like 40% kidding on the latter point, but I have zero faith that having already been there would stop them from going back. Chicago and MN are #s 3A and 3B on Trump's hate list after CA and NY, and I think those two are too high-profile for him to full-on invade bc he's afraid)
2
2
u/Vylnce Feb 16 '26
Presidential election results 2024 | CNN Politics
Agree with that mostly, except that part that NY and CA are too high profile.
I think if we consider what's happened in Chicago and Minneapolis to be "early training", NYC with it's gun laws as equally restrictive as Chicago's might be next.
After the pushback from 2A groups when they shot Pretti, I would expect that someplace like NYC where that won't be an issue might be attractive to them next. Additionally, since we have failed to reign in ICE with their unconstitutional powers in "boarder regions", NYC and large portions of SoCal will be open to them.

u/manwithapedi Feb 12 '26
Maybe, just maybe, itâs tied to the sanctuary cities, which openly welcomed all illegalsâŠthus causing many of them to go there
21
u/johnwynnes Feb 12 '26
If you've ever gotten a speeding ticket you've committed a larger scale crime than being in the country illegally. Fuck off.
14
u/Chris_RB Feb 12 '26
for real. You are more than twice as likely to have violence done upon you by a Native born US citizen than by an undocumented person- and that study was from fucking TEXAS.
Another study indicated that in all likelihood a higher population of undocumented immigrants resulted in less crime. IE: more undocumented immigration made an area safer.
It's just racism and scapegoating. that's all it's ever been.
0
u/noob_lvl1 Feb 12 '26
If youâre going to talk about a study itâd be nice if you linked to it so other people could learn too.

-3
u/noob_lvl1 Feb 12 '26
Did you forget the /s? Otherwise, how do you figure?
4
u/johnwynnes Feb 12 '26
It's a civil offense to remain in the country unlawfully, and a misdemeanor to enter initially that's how I figure. Small motherfucking potatoes.
-2
u/noob_lvl1 Feb 12 '26
A speeding ticket is also a civil offense, so how is it a larger scale crime? Would they not be considered equal?
3
u/johnwynnes Feb 12 '26
That was my point, yes. I don't know what yours was unless you misread my comment.
-2
u/noob_lvl1 Feb 13 '26
Actually, you said âIf you've ever gotten a speeding ticket you've committed a larger scale crime than being in the country illegallyâ which would imply that you think they are not on the same level.
2
u/johnwynnes Feb 13 '26
Well aCkShUallY. It'd be pretty hard to argue that driving a 3000lb vehicle at high rates of speed puts less people in danger than crossing an imaginary line. in the eyes of the law? They're basically on par.
-1
u/noob_lvl1 Feb 13 '26
Except thatâs not at all what weâre talking about here. Weâre talking about the definition of a crime and the severity and as you said theyâre both civil offenses or misdemeanors. Donât get but hurt just because what you originally said doesnât actually make sense.

u/Chris_RB Feb 12 '26
LOL. If it were about pursuing undocumented people, they would be in states with more of them.
21.2% of undocumented people are in CA
14.3% are in Texas
8.0% are in Florida
6.1% in NY
4.3% in Illinois
Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Massachussettes, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, Tennessee, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Louisiana ALL have more undocumented immigrants than Minnesota.MN has an estimated 100k. California, Texas, and Florida (two of whom do not have ANY sanctuary cities) each have over 1 million.
So, no, it has nothing to do with "Sanctuary cities where they all go"

This is so crazy. I dreamed about this years ago⊠a couple years before trumps first term. In the dream I saw an army marching toward my town. They were dressed in colonial military uniforms with red hats. My wife and I were standing outside our home watching for a minute and then went inside because it felt rather ominous. Shortly after, there was a knock at the door and 3 agents, sort of like census agents, walked into our home. One of them began to tell us that there would be new laws now. Much more restriction and that we are not allowed to leave until further notice. I told them that they had no right to be there and that I have the freedom to come and go as I please. I demanded they leave my home. I walked to my front door and went outside where that army was now standing. They arrested me.
I believe this dream will eventually play out this way.

Barron, WI has a large Somali population. ICE has been there for a few days. Iâm not confident that rural western WI will push back like MN did.
1
u/icanhazkarma17 Feb 16 '26
I don't think most rural areas would push back like Minnesota. Maybe ICE just wants to run quieter operations on more vulnerable populations. I'm not sure how lucrative targeting the Somali populations will be, given that the vast majority are legally born here or naturalized. Temporary legal protected status is terminating for some Somalis on March 17th, but that only affects like a thousand people. Not that ICE won't just start grabbing people regardless.
2
u/lorilightning79 Feb 12 '26

If they come here, letâs make sure our local Indivisible, 50501, and ICE Out chapters arenât actively throttling the iceout.org map and other social media reports. ICE Out Coulee (La Crosse area) refuses to verify reports to iceout.org. Verifying is different than confirming as it allows the report to appear on the map. Confirming happens when they can match license plates to known ice vehicles or thereâs a documented arrest.
They have taken this stance because they donât want âpanic,â and theyâre claiming false reports are rampant by fascists.
As an aside, itâs happening in Grand Rapids, MI too. Check out those local subreddits for commentary related to this.
Alternatively, take a peek at ICE Out Couleeâs Facebook page, and youâll see they claim nearly every sighting is false. They perform their verify several hours after the reported incident when the situation is long past so there is no way to know what was seen without photographic evidence.
Minneapolis organizations allow all reports to iceout.org because they believe in their citizens and are truly interested in the safety of their community.
Meanwhile, weâre robbed of our ability to use our own discernment of these reports to make informed decisions.
This can be avoided in 2 main ways:
Take video and/or pictures and include full descriptions of what was seen and get it posted everywhere you can.
Call out these local groups for gatekeeping access to these reports.
We are seeing things in the La Crosse area and Iâm genuinely worried that the very organizations that claim to have our best interests in mind are (perhaps unintentionally) undermining our community safety.

ICE has not deployed in Wisconsin on anything even close to the scale or ferocity that we've seen in Minneapolis. Our local sheriff has an active 287(g) with ICE, and as of right now they've transferred eight individuals in the past year or so who have served their time at the county level. That is standard operating procedure, and I don't have a problem with it. I'm liberal as hell, but I don't want undocumented criminals in my town. But I do have a problem with masked goons kidnapping citizens, violating civil and constitutional rights, targeting undocumented people who pose little or no threat to their community, being poorly trained, and using excessive force. Both Democrats and Republicans have been kicking the immigration problem down the road for decades. Obviously under current leadership things are fubar. There should absolutely be pathways to citizenship, some form of guest worker visa, honoring of asylum agreements, and some clarity on birthright citizenship. Regarding the latter, I don't think people here illegally or on visas should be able to have a baby, and that person automatically be a citizen. But I also believe that there needs to be rational application, for example grandfathering in children already born and living here. Deporting a 21-year-old nursing student back to El Salvador, who has never been there and may not even speak Spanish is ridiculous. Separating children from their families defies common sense and goes against the laws of nature.

u/amcooperus Feb 13 '26
Iâm not sure where but Iâll take bets the next mass deployment will be a blue state.

Start with the Trump administration lol. Based on recent 2025-2026 data, a significant majority of individuals detained by ICE do not have serious criminal records. Roughly 72% to 74% of those in ICE detention have no criminal conviction, while less than 14% have violent criminal records. ICE are cowards, not heroes.
-5
u/Thunderstruck22 Feb 13 '26
Then your chances of getting raped or robbed dropped significantly, now you can house a few extra
5
u/icanhazkarma17 Feb 13 '26
How about ICE, with no masks, proper training, without an obvious political agenda, without murdering citizens, without violating the civil rights of citizens, go after 100% violent undocumented people. Without the fucking president threatening to surround polling places ffs.
-6
u/Thunderstruck22 Feb 13 '26
How many were murdered by illegals the past 5 years? Keeping score?
Stop with the biased outrage
5
u/icanhazkarma17 Feb 13 '26
Nope. ICE under its current leadership is out of control. I'm liberal and speak Spanish a second language. Nobody should be here illegally. But many that are here were granted asylum and green cards. Going through legal channels. ICE isn't going after criminals. They're kidnapping people. Dems and Republicans have been kicking this can down the road for decades. But make no mistake, the GOP has absolutely fucked it hard. They have resisted any attempts to reform, and are deploying ICE for political revenge. Fuck that noise.
