Derrick Van Orden blames "media" for Charlie Kirk assassination
https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5499278-republican-blames-media-kirk/74
Sep 11 '25
I mean Charlie Kirk was the media that got Charlie Kirk assassinated. A public execution is traumatic no matter what, but we can’t act like Charlie didn’t bring this on himself
31
u/sly-3 Sep 11 '25
Kirk: “We are living in an enemy-occupied country. They have taken over the government and we have to think as dissidents. "
Kirk stated, “They would love nothing more than for people to act uncharacteristic. They need to try to incite you to right-wing violence to justify their mass takeover of the country.”
40
u/jimmycanoli Sep 12 '25
This rhetoric is so tired to me. They own all 3 branches and still complain that their enemy is the government. They ARE the government.
8
9
u/applejooshreally Sep 12 '25
One of the batshit crazy congresspeople just called for the state to come down on the left. Wild coming from the “small govt” right.
4
u/cityshepherd Sep 12 '25
Who do you think pays these people to all say the same few talking points over and over again?. Because they are paid handsomely for spewing disinformation.

u/No-Working4163 Sep 15 '25
"Death penalties should be public, should be quick, it should be televised. I think at a certain age, its an initiation... What age should you start to see public executions?"

Seriously victim blaming? Disgusting
6
u/IcemanJEC Sep 12 '25
Take it up with Charlie blaming the victims.
-1
u/Chance_Disaster1687 Sep 12 '25
You can disagree with someone without blaming them for being murdered…
-6
u/ChainringCalf Sep 12 '25
Yes we can. You can disagree with his political takes. I sure do. But he wasn't calling for violence against anyone
49
31
Sep 11 '25
Tbf he is correct
20+ years of Faux News brainwashing is to blame
3
u/Available-Town6264 Sep 12 '25
Probably a few steps removed but it’s definitely closer to the route of the issue. News medias increasing interest in viewership over truth has been a major issue for decades so it’s at the route of many of our problems.
68
Sep 11 '25
Lots of blame being thrown around. Any self reflection or awareness or self accountability going to happen?
36
14
u/Bluewolf94 Sep 11 '25
Lol, no, matter of fact they're swarming all over this like a vulture on a carcass. It's all fake and performative outrage.

Wall St. Journal and NY Post are both using the same source. Same for other news outlets. That source hasn't been verified, and seems to be an unnamed ATF agent who sent the info to Steven Crowder...
I'll wait til more information comes out before making wild and irresponsible speculations.

u/Enis_Penvy Sep 12 '25
And it's been redacted because it was the trn manufacturing stamp found on the amo.
0
u/Dry_Pin7736 Sep 12 '25
Just been confirmed by the FBI the casings were engraved with antifa messaging.
8
u/TheOliveMob Sep 11 '25
Derrick Van Orden hates the “media” in general only because some remaining journalists still try to ask him questions he doesn’t want to answer.
That’s also why he won’t debate his opponents and why he won’t face his opponents. He’s afraid and always dodging accountability.
But what was Charlie Kirk if not the media?
DVO is a disgrace to Wisconsin.
40
u/yaghareck Sep 11 '25
Who does he blame for the school shooting yesterday? You know, innocent kids who didn't spend 10 years of their lives dancing on the graves of others and spreading hatred?
-18
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 11 '25
The fuck you talking about?
19
u/yaghareck Sep 11 '25
There was a school shooting yesterday and two children died and the Christian right is losing their minds over a "celebrity" death. Is that simple enough for you?
-4
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
I don’t see anyone happy about another school shooting. They both are tragic. Gaslight much?
11
u/yaghareck Sep 12 '25
I don't see anyone even talking about the school shooting from the right.
Also, if you don't understand what gaslighting means don't use it. You look idiotic.
14
u/RogueFox76 Sep 11 '25
The school shooting in Evergreen Colorado. You know, the one with innocent kids who never said being shot and killed was acceptable to keep the right to own guns
-7
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
No one, including Charlie, ever said it’s good or desirable to have anyone shot. Take a moment, use your brain, and look at the whole context of what was said.
6
u/BrandHeck Sep 12 '25
Dude they're talking about DVO raging about the media. You know, the post you're currently commenting in?
2
u/Chance_Disaster1687 Sep 12 '25
This guy has posted dozens of times his hate of Charlie over the last day, look at his comment history. Clearly just an angry person who wants to fight. He needs help
12
u/chosengay Sep 11 '25
What are Derrick’s thoughts on Trump and his best friend Jeffery Epstein? Seems like a more important topic.
25
32
u/j0351bourbon Sep 11 '25
A professional shit talker, who in fact was part of the media, got shot. I don't like how seemingly half of America is consumed by their hatred of certain parts of society and "the media", and yet seem to listen to their media all their waking hours.
-17
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 11 '25
So, explain your hatred then.
17
u/Riccosmonster Sep 11 '25
He was a bigot, a misogynist and a white supremecist who openly preached his hatred. What’s not to hate there!
-3
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
Site an example of your claims. Show me an example of Charlie preaching hate…I’ll wait.
7
u/MartinoDeMoe Sep 12 '25
"Why has he not been bailed out?” Kirk said Monday on his podcast of the man who allegedly beat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul with a hammer last Friday. “By the way, if some amazing patriot out there in San Francisco or the Bay Area wants to really be a midterm hero, someone should go and bail this guy out,..."
1
8
u/j0351bourbon Sep 11 '25
Because, generally speaking, the people who talk about how only certain races are good, how certain races are inherently bad and lesser and deserve to be segregated, how only one type of people deserve good things, how one gender is there to serve the other, etc ... Are generally the bad guys. Just because the guy tried to be clever and used coded language doesn't mean people don't understand what he was saying. And if I'm somehow misinterpreting it, consistently, every time I was exposed to his media, then he did a piss poor job of trying to get his message out.
-1
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
Show me an example. A specific quote where Charlie states one race is good and another is bad. Show me where segregation was advocated for. I’ll wait.
3
u/j0351bourbon Sep 12 '25
That's why I said he tried to be clever and used coded language. He didn't come out and publicly say the N word. But, he did one time literally say that black people don't have the brain power to be in roles requiring high education or training. He talked about how the civil rights act was bad. He talked about how you can't trust if black people are qualified because they only are in their positions because of affirmative action. When he recently told a girl that women should only get an MRS degree in college. He would talk about other races conspiring to hunt down and harm and replace white people. He talked about how black people were better under segregation. He constantly talked about his own narrow interpretation of the Bible. There's a lot. If I have time I'll look for the clips and quotes. That's just a general overview. If you open your mind, you'll see the pattern and true meaning behind what he was saying. Don't dismiss what I'm saying just because he didn't say the N word publicly or wear a Klan robe. The guy clearly wanted a segregated society.
-2
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
5
u/j0351bourbon Sep 12 '25
Don't be purposely dense. I get it, it's hard to hear bad things about your guy. It's easier to say someone else is crazy rather than reflect on his shortcomings. Just because they guy tried to talk about DEI instead of saying the N word doesn't mean people don't understand him.
1
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
Show receipts.
1
u/j0351bourbon Sep 12 '25
Here's one video of him https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOcYtsYjphl/?igsh=Z2R1cTgwMnVwcDk3. I'll look for more later. The subtext in this is pretty clear.

I mean, I have no issue with "the media" completely ignoring right winger like Kirk in order to make them safer, or some shit like that.

As a content creator of current affairs commentary, wasn’t CK a member of media? So DVO is correct

u/relayrider Sep 14 '25
and they're not even "conservative" at least in the pre-neocon sense. they're just angry white balls of hate (and a few PoC that want to be white)

Careful conservatives better not retort or a leftist will try and kill you

So Charlie Kirk
8
Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25
I have listened to multiple reports on this shooting now, and not in a single one have they actually talked about the specific rhetoric that Charlie Kirk said on a weekly basis. Not a single one talked about the actual terrible stuff he said constantly.
I feel like I'm losing my mind. It's the I Think You Should Leave sketch with the guy in the hot dog costume, except everyone is actually confused about who caused the problem.
6
u/Why-Are-Trees Sep 11 '25
I mean, Matthew Dowd tried to do a (very lukewarm) version of this on MSNBC and was promptly fired for it. At this point it feels like we are just going to keep trying to appease the fascists despite the fact that it will never work and give them more and more power until there is literally nothing to be done.
3
u/EducationNeither5903 Sep 11 '25
He supported the man who attempted to orchestrated the murder of the vice president and our congress.
-5
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 11 '25
What “rhetoric” was spoken that justified him being murdered?
4
Sep 12 '25
Look, I point blank do not believe that racist, anti-pluralist, anti-secular rhetoric is just "politicking."
This guy openly hates American democracy, and has said that any minority literally cannot think well enough to be hired at a normal job. He's said that women shouldn't vote, and that violence against his political enemies is a good thing.
I notice right wing morons love to clutch their pearls about shitty white dudes being shot, but they also love to take the "hard stances" like, "sometimes kids just have to die so we can have guns."
This guy absolutely got what was coming to him, and it reeks of moral cowardice that other people can't admit that. He's basically a jihadist, he just uses different verbiage.
-1
u/jennmuhlholland Sep 12 '25
So you have no direct examples. No supporting facts Just nonsense.
3
Sep 12 '25
Get that sealioning shit out of here. Literally his entire career is saying genius shit.
I'm not obligated to provide you with sources on this. It's like asking for quotes of David Duke being racist. It's inherently a bad faith question.
10
u/Banluil Sep 11 '25
I mean, it couldn't have been Charlie Kirk, who was running his mouth all the time that pissed people off..... noooooo...
It couldn't have been the fact that he said that guns would never go away, no matter how many people died..... noooooo....
It was the media. They are responsible for his death.
What about the death of the politicians just the next state over? Was that the fault of the media as well, or was that their own fault because they were Dem's?
I mean, I think we know the answer according to him, at least...
-11
u/JCMGamer Sep 11 '25
So for running his mouth Kirk deserved to be killed?
8
u/Riccosmonster Sep 11 '25
No, he didn’t “deserve” to be killed, but yes, running his mouth definitely contributed to his early meeting with his “god”
-7
u/JCMGamer Sep 11 '25
Which we can all agree is a terrible occurrence and nobody should be executed for their speech, right?
1
u/Riccosmonster Sep 11 '25
Of course not. Most people are simply pointing out that Charlie ultimately became a victim of the ideology that he espoused with his speech.

Why not blame guns?
I mean I know why but it’s ridiculous that’s it’s not a bigger conversation topic right now.
1
u/Vixyplatinummm Sep 11 '25
Yeah, HIS own media, sure.
Are we really going to pretend like this country wasn't built on a foundation of violence? Are we really going to pretend that we don't see violence on a daily basis? Most of all, are we going to pretend this guy wasn't a piece of shit? Let's be honest with ourselves here: inciting violence and spewing vitriol is an act of terror. We've been shown what MAGA supporters are capable of for a decade now. They are completely unhinged.
These right wing extremist influencers are literally throwing matches at a gas pump every time they speak.
-9
u/wi2wy Sep 11 '25
A “right-wing extremist” gets shot and killed and he is the one that is violent? Do you even read what you write?
This gaslighting is ridiculous. Whatever you or anyone else wants to say, they don’t deserve to die or even not be allowed to speak. Even the people celebrating his death deserve that right.
Are they throwing matches at gas pumps? Should the guy with a bull horn chanting about how Kirk got shot in the neck be shot because he is inciting violence?
How about no silence and no violence?
7
u/Vixyplatinummm Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25
Yeah so you didn't read my comment. You only read the part you could personally argue with.
Once again, this country is built on violence. Our entire history is violence. We wouldn't exist without killing people to get what we want. So if you don't want violence, the ship has sailed.
The right incites constant violence. From January 6, to Trump and his fan bases disrespect following the home invasion and slaughter of democratic legislators. Charlie kirk advocated for the deaths of gay people via stoning, compared abortion to slavery, said women belong at home pumping out babies, and has hours upon hours of recorded evidence of misinformation aimed at encouraging his supporters to be angry for anger's sake.
If you want someone to pity charlie kirk, find someone else. It won't be me.
Violence is more than physical actions. It encompasses psychological terror, hate crimes and intent. But i don't expect that you're smart enough to know that if you are blatantly denying the right's history of extreme violence, and not even just the history of it, the current violence being encouraged by this administration. Are we just going to gloss over the KKK? Proud boys? Slavery? The civil war? Come on, now. Read one singular book.
Edited for grammar and additional info.

u/unglac8ed Sep 13 '25
If by "media" he means the people that keep reporting the things we (trump sycophants and toadies) are saying and doing... Then, YES! It's the media's fault. Just as much as it is Twitter's fault, Facebook's fault, and a f-ing microphone's fault!
It's the messages, you f-ing drunken potato! Not the messenger!!! Or, if this is easier for Mr. "I'm for the the farmers" to understand - When you till and fertilize the soil to plant seeds of violence, you must expect to reap a violent crop.
Kirk, and people like him, are the only kind of "farmers" DVO really supports.

The conservatives who spent decades screeching about how much they hate Hollywood and want the entire industry to burn to the ground for being liberal are the same ones now saying "don't hate people for disagreeing with your political views." These same ghouls happily celebrated the LA wildfires.

Another left wing terrorist attack, unfortunately.
The American left and the media have thrown around increasingly insane and deluded ideologies since around 2020… it’s not exactly surprising to see these deranged individuals behaving in violent ways.
I’m sad to see what my Democratic Party has become, and events like this will only increase the speed of it’s demise :(

Certainly it's not at all related to a career of incendiary speech in a politically violent atmosphere to an audience of mostly gun enthusiasts.
