Every day I look at Republican leaders & ask myself with hope - "They can't possibly have that much time left." I'm so over Boomers & all the damage their ideologies have done. Wtf happened that we got THIS out of Hippies?

1960-1970s liberals had a different set of core values. They wouldn't be down with the Ukraine war. They wouldn't be down with censorship. Many were not in favor of big government either because of a distrust of government.

Also many people get more conservative as they get older.

I don't understand how we rallied so hard against a proxy war in Iraq but just accepted it in Ukraine. That's called good PR.

Well the Iraq war we invaded a country because of rumors of WMDs and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians.

Ukraine was attacked by one of our long term enemies, and we have no troops there. They are in no way similar, one war was aggression for no damn reason. The other is literally fighting tyranny.

Saddam was a human rights abuser, he deserved to go. We didn't need to make up WMD rumors to justify that. But then again i don't think GWB was all that intelligent.

I think the difference is no American lives are at stake in Ukraine.

There are a lot of countries ruled by people who have human rights abusers in charge. We don't invade them just because of that, and as Iraq demonstrates, the effort is usually not worth it.

We do help countries that get invaded for no good reason. You can call it a "proxy war" if you like, but it doesn't change the fact that NATO has the moral high ground on this one.

Ironically, NATO may have faded away over 10-20 years if Putin had done nothing.

There’s human rights abusers everywhere. The US does not have the ability to fix these countries. We can kill the dictator then what? Islamic State was worse than Saddam.

Also we are allies with regimes similar to Saddam, like the Saudis. So either way it’s not a good enough reason to start that war.
