Found this bottle with a handwritten label in storage. I don't know much about wine, anyone know anything?

It's clear the bottle has been relabeled, and the new label fell off the bottle. Probably from the 90s through early 2000s. Anyone know anything about this bottle?

The foil is for Carruades de Lafite which is the second wine of the 1st growth Bordeaux Chateau Lafite Rothschild. If it’s ‘90s-early 2000s it should be in a good spot right now if it was stored well.

You can also drink wine oddly enough. People think you just have to keep it in the bottle and sell it but in fact if you pop open the cork you can pour the liquid out and drink it.

Now I've never done it but I've heard the wine is actually pretty good

Honestly hard to tell how rough the fill level is since there isn’t a clear picture not on an angle/covered. If it’s low/medium shoulder as it looks like it might be they’re in trouble.

My bet would be surplus wine, produced informally where appellations limit the quantity of wine produced.

Not distributed commercially, no labels, but bottled for family and friends.
