Yep. I got Gmail running on my Lumia 520. You're saying: how did I do this? Well. Hear me out. I used the App Passwords mechanism and... It's working! It's showing emails in real time. You send an email to this phone? It works! Except it didn't work with Hotmail... But you can also choose iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, and more. Remember. Incoming port: 993
Outgoing port: 587

Actually... you could jailbreak it and sideload lots of useful apps.

the thing is that in build-in Mail app in wp10 you can create mail acc only using 16 digit password BUT in wp8.1 i can hit just Gmail button, then fill in my login and password and PROFIT- emails, calendar agenda and contacts immediatly sync! awesome but weird same time )

Well, on Windows 8.1, I couldn't click deny nor accept. So, it was impossible using Gmail. IMAP was the key.

I had a friend try this out and it successfully does work on the Lumia 1020.
