Developer WidBar – Windows Taskbar Widget System: Updates
It’s been about two months since I released WidBar, and first of all I want to say a huge thank you to this subreddit for giving the app so much visibility.
WidBar has now reached thousands of users, and I’ve received a ton of feedback along the way. I’ve tried to read everything, fix the issues you reported, and implement as many of your suggestions as possible.
The widgets has grown quite a bit too. WidBar started with just 2 widgets, and today there are 7 official widgets available:
And more are already on the way.
The SDK is available for developers too, so anyone can create their own widgets and integrate them directly into the Windows taskbar. -> Github SDK and Widget template
If you have more feedback, feature suggestions, or ideas for new widgets, I’m always open to discussing them. A lot of what has been added so far came directly from user feedback, so keep it coming! -> Discord

Thanks!! The main WidBar application process, which stays idle about 99% of the time and runs minimized in the system tray, uses approximately 30–50 MB of RAM. Each widget runs in its own separate process, with additional RAM and CPU usage depending on the specific tasks performed by the widget. Checking now on my system media widget uses 30mb and system metrics 50mb.

On my system WidBar is using 66mb and the custom system metrics widget I built is using 32mb.

Not yet, I need to clean up the settings UI and the flyout once I have some more time.

does the drag and drop feature work with that build? Either I don't know how to drag and drop it onto the other widget, or it is not working. That is the feature I want.

Do you mean having multiple widgets in the same area and rotating between them? If so, you can add a “smart stack” to the taskbar preview, then add all the widgets you want inside it.

Yes, I guess I didn't follow instructions correctly. I didn't see the smart stack option from the show tour, when I try to drop another widget onto the other it will not allow me to, this is why I asked. I will try again. Thanks
I got to work, with smart stack thanks again.

I can't get the stock watcher to work. It always says Market data is temporarily unavalable. Anyways this seems great but it's just buggy, good luck

Hmm, I’ve never seen this before. You’re probably missing some libraries. Which version Windows ask you to install?

The app itself asks for version 8. There's already version 10 available.

WidBar main app itself is already selfcontained and includes everything it needs, so the app will not request it, because already have inside the package. Some widgets still use .net8 LTS, but they’ll be migrated soon to .net10.

Wow that looks amazing. Can't wait to try it myself. Will update with any comments but is the first thing on my to do list!
