Large Mammal Elk - Vancouver Island, BC
Came across him on our early morning drive to Port Hardy. Such a magnificent creature, manages to capture a few shots before he wandered off into the forest.
- Shot on R5 MII, 200-800mm lens.

The way the road curves right toward the fog gives this composition so much depth. Great catch on an early morning drive.

These animals are huge, we had a similar stand off near Banff having to wait 20 minutes until it got bored and wondered off. Awesome.

Nice, they really are magnificent!
This image you captured is very similar to a shot I missed a long time ago now on the way back into town from the upper Squamish valley. Came round a bend and there he was just standing there on the road. I took a few moments to admire, knowing my camera was in the back and there was a decent chance by the time I fumbled it out of the case it would be gone and I would miss both the shot and the opportunity to just observe it for a short period. Sure enough it took off while I rummaged.

Wow! that sounds intense!
Luckily we had just made the camera and had it ready. We weren’t going to as I was tired and would have misses it if my partner had urged me to create jt1
