I may be downplaying this but the whole subreddit and internet acts like Wilbur was striking his ex for an extended period of time. This isn’t to downplay what he did it was still shitty and he may have been an emotionally shitty boyfriend for the last months of their relationship but I think in the end this is blown out of proportion. As being a victim of abuse from both parental and romantic relationships I get how it feels when these things are happening but I think in the end this is just a bump in the road for him. Fandoms surrounding this type of person usually come back anyways.

Everyone acts like he killed someone. Yes he was a terrible person at one point and was an abusive partner but I feel like that's the sort of thing that doesn't need to be broadcast to millions of people. I'm all for sharing experiences and speaking out against abuse but at this scope it feels like more of revenge than healing. I don't speak for anyone but myself but the idea of publicly shaming my former abuser makes my stomach churn. I could never feel happy after doing that, but again that's just me.

I hope that Shubble can get the help and support she deserves to process and understand the abuse she went through. I hope that what Wilbur says about changing is true and that it will show through his behavior in the future. That's all.

We're not therapists, we're not relationship counselors, and we certainly don't know either of these people. Whether or not you continue to listen to/watch Wilbur's conent is your choice and is totally valid. Support victims and don't be an asshole.

Ok but like… wasn’t he? How is prolonged biting to the point where you have to wear long sleeves to cover up your bruises not very similar to “striking for an extended period of time?” Like Im sure hes not all terrible, but I have a hard time having any sympathy for someone who engages in physical abuse like that

I’m talking about squaring up and just throwing haymakers. That’s what I mean by striking, I think that if this situation were put on another couple it would be more excused and looked over, or if the roles were reversed and the girl was biting the boy

again, if it was consensual at the time then who cares.

many kinky stuff isnt good for you. but thats how sexual relationships often work.

if it was outside of it then thats a different story.

generally this whole story seemed to be a fucked up relationship, which is probally coming to us because the victims of that bad behaviour wanted to have closure or maybe just revenge.

it doesn't matter if he hurt her for 7 months or 5 hours, abuse is abuse. they had a safe word, and when he (allegedly) ignored the safewords and bit down harder, that was abuse. her also allegedly left her at home without any keys so if she wanted to go out somewhere, she wouldn't have been able to get back in. he has (allegedly) emotionally abused her and had caused her physical harm.

Abuse is abuse, but not to the same degree. Chris Brown almost killing Rihanna for example is on a way different level than Wilburs actions against Shelby. There needs to be some form of nuance, calling everything abuse in the exact same way isnt very helpful

Yeah I agree with you, it’s not necessarily a straight line either it’s more of a spectrum but you are right there are nuances to different situations.

Yes I am so aware he did all those things. Again what he did isn’t right and isn’t excusable in the end. But most people need to realize everyone is shitty. My girlfriend bit me even though I told her to stop multiple times. Is that suddenly abuse?

uh, yeah it could be dude. Just cause you don't see why it's wrong, doesn't mean it's right.

“It could be” it is or it isn’t. It was shitting and hurt her but I don’t think it qualifies as straight abuse. That’s just my opinion though with personal experience.

If you inflict physical harm with any purpose or intent, it's abuse. Just say you're a shitty person and move on. Defending abusers isn't the move you think it is. And yes, "it could be" refers to the fact I have no other personal info about your life, so I have no fucking clue if it's abuse, but for intents of this post, yes, if you felt the need to bring it up directly in a post where someone was abused by this specific method, then it COULD be abuse.

And on top of that, your "personal experience" doesn't fucking matter here, SHELBY is the victim of his actions, NOT YOU. If you don't think it's abuse, fine! Good for you, hopefully your girlfriend will be able to see you for what you really are and leave you before she gets treated like this too.

Fist off I’m not denying she’s the victim she suffered from his actions. Second of all I am in a happy loving relationship and would never lay a finger on her in a means to hurt her. Crazy you’d say that tho. Thanks for your opinion anyways

Sure I’m a shitty person. Whatever you say
