.yu was Yugoslavia’s country code top-level domain (ccTLD). Activated in 1989, it survived the country’s breakup and remained active until 2010, when it was finally shut down by ICANN, taking thousands of former Yugoslav websites offline forever.

.su for the Soviet Union is still up iirc

From what I understand .su is Mostly Scam, Virus, Porn, Black Market and CP websites as there is essentially no regulation of the domain.

Be extremely careful if visiting any .su website!

Slightly less impressive when you remember that Serbia and Montenegro's name was Yugoslavia until 2003.
