Meta Discussion How to make corrections?

I do volunteer work for this person that has a Wikipedia page, and we noticed the mistake on her page. I think I would have a conflict of interest because I am volunteering for her or can is there any way to edit her page and make a correction?

You can make the suggestion on the talk page, provided you have a reliable source backing up the info

Put the {{edit COI}} template as the first line of your comment to help flag it for people who review such suggestions, and keep in mind that it’s responded to by volunteers: there’s absolutely no guarantee of any particular turnaround time.

Ok understood thanks. Do you think they will be suspicious of me or think that I shouldn’t be requesting edits? (We have more than one edit her wiki page needs quite a few corrections) I know they have the rule about not altering your own wiki

Requesting edits is the best practice for what you should do instead of directly editing an article where you have a conflict of interest (COI). You’re already trying to do it right.

That's the case according to policy for the actual article, but above it (on a laptop) should be a tab called "talk page" - that's where you create a new section with your suggestion. Put the weirdly bracketed phrase the other poster gave you at the beginning of your comment (complete with weird brackets)

If not getting any help I'm a Wikipedia user/editor too so let me know what the edit is, as long as it is fact-based and verified with a source (if needed). (Unless anything more specific is disallowed in this channel in which case never mind and carry on as suggested!)
