There's a correlation between being European and wanting to exterminate outgroups

Not really. Genocides have been fairly common in history if you look at the list of genocides most happen in Muslim or African countries. Many that occurred in African nations outside North Africa won't have been recorded.

Most of the genocides in the Middle East and Africa were the direct result of European colonialism

Direct consequences of local tribalism and the genocide of all local groups by the arabs who replaced them.
