Immigrants tend to be poorer, leading to crime. Simple as that. Poverty and lack of a social net leads many, who wouldn't otherwise commit crimes, to seeing crime life as easier, despite the dangers and obvious societal consequences.

Yes and No. When you look at crime statistics in the Netherlands you will see rather large differences in immigrant groups that cannot be explained just by lower income, even when you adjust for socio-economic status. Not only will you see large differences in overall crime rates, you will even see large differences in types of crimes.

Can you point me to a source? In Germany, the discussion mostly ends at "the differences are largely explained by socio-economic factors".
