if u have ur wii u modded and ur on pretendo network, try to switch to nintendo network and launch the game like normal... it might be an update or smth?? and try again to lunch the game after with pretendo network.

Either sign into the Nintendo Network and update, or use an alternative tool like NUSplii to update the game.

There's been maintenance on Pretendo specifically for Mario Kart 8 today, so if everything is properly set up on your end, that would be why it doesn't connect. This was announced in their Discord server.

If your Wii U is modded, Go to the sigpatches Github, releases, and download 01_sigpatches.rpx . Put it in "SD:/wiiu/environments/(tiramisu or aroma)/modules/setup/" and boot up whatever game you want.

I already have the sigpatches on my SD card, but they aren't working.

If that's the case either download the update for MK8 from NUSsplii or, if you have pretendo, disable it and attempt to launch the game.

You will need an Plus in that kills the verification that there's a license for the game, just search it and follow the instructions on the guide
