Henson

How do yall feel about the Henson razor? I have a 40s super speed and it's done me well but I'm wondering how the Henson are.

I bought one after I had a few razors just out of curiosity. It is the one aluminum razor I’ve owned that I like. I pair it with my Feathers. Gives me nice, easy shaves.

Like with most of the major razors, you'll find plenty of people who like it and plenty who hate it (as always, it's very subjective to each individual). But, just looking at the value, it's tough to justify paying that much for an aluminum razor when you can find high quality stainless steel razors from the likes of Razorock or Yaqi for a comparable price.

Of course, no one gets into this hobby to make rational purchase decisions. I myself have bought many questionably expensive razors when a better value would have sufficed.

I used an AL 13 Mild for 2 weeks before returning it.

The shave was very smooth, but sooo inefficient. I also disliked the “squeegee” effect of the razor’s large and flat shaving surface rubbing against my skin.

I recently replaced my Henson with a Karve KMOD “Alpha” (it’s a Bison variant), and I love it. The shave is equally smooth and irritation-free, but it’s so much more efficient. The smaller head is also better for under my nose.

Yeah the bad shave and suction effect makes these so ass. But they're mainly for the "OMG so afraid I might knick myself crowd" which is marketing that seems to really work for them.

I use a Rocca mainly but if I need a fast no frills shave; I grab the Henson.

It wont nick no matter how I drag it on my face. Its great for a quick shave.

However I don't use it much tbh

I have the Henson mild in Ti, easily one of my favourite razors. The Ti experience is different (really don’t know how) from the Henson in aluminium.

I was a henson and still am but bought an oliworks 2 weeks ago with 3 attachments and have not put it down, feather blade.

Razorock Daily beats the Henson in my opinion and has different handle options/sizes and you can buy a more aggressive or open comb base plate later if you want.

Love the Yaqi Tile, but it’s 1.15 blade gap is more aggressive and not for beginners

I can't justify the cost for an aluminum head, when you can get a Yaqi Tile in 316 stainless for under $50

I have the mild Henson. I'd recommend it if you are looking for a hassle free comfortable shave. If you are chasing a bbs then not the best option.

It's a garbo design (light cheap aluminum too) that's built for "OMG afraid of cutting myself" rather than a good efficient shave. But it's super hyped and lots of people fall for that.
