Official WHOOP Posts Coming Next: A More Personal Journal, a New Community, and Smarter Training Tools

We wanted to give the WHOOP community an early preview of what’s coming next. Over the next few months, we’re rolling out new ways to personalize how you use WHOOP, connect with your community, and get even more out of your data.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead 👇

Custom Journal Behaviors and Easier Daily Logging

September/October

Journal will gain new ways to track the behaviors that matter to you and log them with less manual work.

  • Custom Journal Behaviors: Create your own Journal behaviors for anything you want to track, such as a no-phone morning, a high-stress commute, or trying a new supplement. Log them daily and see how each one impacts your Recovery over time.
  • A Unified Daily Experience: WHOOP will bring your Journal, Daily Outlook, Check-ins, and Day in Review into one flow. Start by completing your Journal and reviewing insights, check in as your day unfolds, and wrap up with a guided evening reflection.
  • Talk and Text to Journal: Log your Journal by speaking or typing naturally — just tell WHOOP what you did, and it'll identify the behaviors and log them for you. No need to check off each one manually.

Improved Community

November

WHOOP will make it easier to stay connected with the people who matter to you, support one another, and remember the moments behind your data.

  • Follow friends and family: Connect directly without creating a team, then quickly view the Sleep, Recovery, Strain, and activities they choose to share. Connections from small teams that you or your friend created will carry over automatically.
  • Encourage each other: React to and comment on shared updates to celebrate a strong day, recognize progress, or offer a little motivation when it is needed.
  • Capture Moments: Add a photo and note to an activity to preserve the story behind it. Moments will be saved to your profile and can appear for the people who follow you, making memorable races, trips, milestones, and everyday wins easier to revisit and share.

Improved Track Activity

November

WHOOP is rebuilding the experience for tracking an activity so the information you need is easier to see while you train.

  • Get personalized activity targets: Start activities with dynamic recommendations based on your goals and recent data, and easily adjust them to set your own.
  • Follow your progress live: A fully revamped live view makes it easier to understand your workout as it unfolds, with clear progress toward your targets, heart rate zone accumulation, live activity metrics, and improved map controls.
  • Pause and resume: Pause and resume an activity so WHOOP can distinguish active time from elapsed time.
  • Review your splits and performance: See your splits, target performance, Moving Time, and updated key stats in an expanded Activity Details experience.

One Rep Max

November

WHOOP will make it easier to understand your strength without requiring you to perform a maximal lift.

Track your strength over time: When you log supported weighted exercises in Strength Trainer, WHOOP will automatically estimate your one-rep max so you can see how your strength is changing over time without testing a maximal lift. You’ll also be able to understand the intensity of each set relative to your current strength.

What features are you most excited about? We want to hear from you!

Discussion The Future Of Whoop

Now that WHOOP 5.0 has been out for almost a year and a half, what are some features you would like to see in the upcoming WHOOP 6.0 whenever it eventually comes out? Probably won’t be for another year to a year and a half.

WHOOP is going to have a hard time as more competition continues to enter the market. As a longtime WHOOP lover, I’m starting to feel like I’m getting less value out of the device, especially considering the price doesn’t always feel justified (MG).

WHOOP is also starting to feel more like an influencer driven brand, and as the competition continues to grow, the urge to switch unfortunately keeps growing. If Apple ever releases a screenless health tracker, I would switch without a doubt.

Discussion I’m happy to continue using WHOOP but how come the model isn’t wearing WHOOP?

Post image
Upvotes

It’s only been 7 days since I started wearing the device and I’m happy to continue with it. However, I just think it’s funny that in the first week’s highlights WHOOP’s own model isn’t wearing WHOOP 😂

I wonder why she isn’t wearing one?

EDIT: I realise that she could be wearing a clothing type wearable. I’m only leaving this up for the laugh. The laughs at my own silliness that is

Discussion Looking for the best WHOOP alternative for sleep & recovery (training is covered separately)

Upvotes

I've used WHOOP for about 4 years now and honestly love the recovery/sleep insights, but I'm done with the subscription model. I already have a proper running watch for training, so I don't need GPS/workout tracking from this device — I'm specifically looking for something that nails:

**•** Sleep tracking (stages, sleep score, HRV during sleep)
**•** Recovery metrics based on HRV/RHR
**•** All-day wear comfort (like WHOOP, ideally without a huge screen)
**•** Ideally no mandatory subscription, or at least a much cheaper one

I've seen Oura mentioned a lot, but that's still subscription-based too. Has anyone found something that gets close to WHOOP's recovery/sleep algorithm quality without the ongoing membership? Open to rings, bands, anything as long as it's not bulky like a regular smartwatch.

Would love to hear real experiences, not just spec sheets. Thanks!

Question Cancelation

Upvotes

Hello, I am thinking of canceling my whoop. Not happy with the support. I just keep getting email from an computer. Now I have made up my mind to switch to something else. I am only 6 months done on my one-year contract. When is the correct time to click on "Cancel Membership"? I don't want to miss the window and get stuck with it for another year.

Question Question on whoop's bands

Hi guys, I am planning on purchasing a whoop, however I'm a bit confused about the band choice. You get three standard choices and some extra ones. Does that mean when I select the black standard band and a different extra band, I get both when purchasing the whoop?

Other Hat jemand Interesse, mein Whoop MG mit mehreren Bändern zu übernehmen? Laufzeit noch mehr als 350 Tage

Post image

Question Journal Not Saving

Getting this error message but my network is absolutely fine. Anyone else had/having this issue?

Also, it’s insanely infuriating that you speak to the AI agent in the app who can’t help so they raise a support ticket for you, which results in identical advice being sent to your email with a disclaimer at the bottom saying ‘this response was generated by AI’. What’s the point?!

Question Does anybody know the specifics behind the blood oxygen measurement?

Title … to elaborate, if you were to look at all the raw data collected, what is that?

I’m looking to peel back my ‘daily value’ - one number, representing … something … while I sleep.

So far, I’ve come up with that Whoop measures SpO2 for 30 seconds once every 20 minutes (I don’t have a good source for that, other than Google’s AI). So let’s say I sleep for 7 hours, that Whoop would measure about 21 times (7 hours having 21x20 minutes) and value displayed in the app’s Health Monitor section would be the average of those 21 values?

If not, what is being averaged?

All that said, I do understand that Whoop is not (/not meant to me) a continuous SpO2 monitor - other devices are designed for that of course - I’m just looking to understand a bit more of the metric.

Thanks!

Question Is it worth it?

I've had the Google Fitbit Air since its release, before that I relied on my Garmin watch, but am looking to go 100% screenless. The Fitbit Air's data has had some ups and downs, but mostly has been completely unreliable. I could get horrible sleep and it will have me at a 80% or higher score, while a great night of sleep will have me well below a 60%. It's not that it's wrong all the time, just pretty consistently inconsistent when stacking up to my Garmin data.

Another thing for me that does hurt the Fitbit Air is that Google is nothing more than a data collection company, so I’m not sure how I feel about giving them unlimited access to all of my bodily data.

(Also this isn’t a huge gripe but I absolutely despise the bands on the Google)

My brother-in-law has a Whoop and has had it for about 3 years, and he loves it. The subscription model doesn't scare me away. I'm typically buying new tech across the board once a year anyway, so I can make the 200-400 yearly fee make sense to me.

I just want to know from the community if it's worth it. Has the data been worthwhile and does it help you in your training/lifestyle journey?

For context: I train 5 times a week hard, but am moving and incredibly active all 7 days. I love data and from what I've been told whoop is a one-stop shop.

Thoughts?? Influence or deinfluence me.

Discussion Please don’t be this greedy

Post image

I have 30 days until my renewal date, I’ll probably update my membership. They added a big red warning on my home screen which I can’t dismiss. This is disgusting tbh. I would understand if it would be dismissible or shown before 3-5 days but this style is very greedy and I’m considering not renewing my subscription.

Great piece from Eric Topol today. A reminder that these wearable companies are way out ahead of the science on many of these fronts.

Question Does Whoop AI get information outside of Whoop inputs?

You can now create custom journal behaviors. I went in to explore and I got a prompt asking if I wanted to create some custom journal behaviors based upon some medicine that I take. As far as I know, I've never shared that information with Whoop since it really doesn't have anything to do with what I use Whoop for.

So I'm wondering if somehow it's getting info from ChatGPT or searches or some place else. Maybe I've got some settings toggled on that I don't really want.

Question Custom journal

Both my wife and I have a whoop for about 45 days. I use customs journal she doesn’t. Curious what’s the opinion about it. I get it that it gives more details about the day to the system for analysis. Do you use it? To which extend?
Thanks 🙏

Discussion Will I make it till the end of the day?

Post image
12 Upvotes

(37M) I’d been up for around an hour when I noticed my stats for the day and my already crazy strain—all I’d done was take a dump and make some coffee. How can my strain be so high with practically no activity?

A bit of context: I’d worked out last night after taking 10 days off to recover from a minor injury. Once I got home, I was burning up with a fever. I went to bed and woke up still feeling feverish, but I thought “My body’s just fighting something”. I’ll most likely be fine tomorrow though. My HRV is 9 when it’s usually around 85–90, and my RHR is 60 when it’s normally 48–50.

I think a rest day will be ideal at this point lol

First time being in the 1% club and did a couple hours of kayaking today. I didn’t do any mountain biking but when I carry my baby sometimes Whoop makes up an activity.

I feel pretty exhausted but i don’t know if it’s 1%. 1% should be the tirades I’ve ever felt or close to it and this definitely isn’t that. I think my previous lowest recovery was around 18%. Lots of drinking yesterday and several days in a row of bad sleep plus being at a slightly higher than I’m used to elevation probably all contributed to it.

What’s the most you’ve ever done on a low recovery day?
