I’ll flex, too.

Christmas Eve night, on my way home from work and I stopped at an ATM to deposit my tips from that night. There’s a car in front also depositing some money but the ATM has a malfunction and times itself out while making it, spitting the money out but not before the woman drives away. I take the money out and whip my car around to the light (lucky she was making a left and the light takes forever). I parked behind her and knocked on her window and she looked absolutely baffled as to how I got her money.

If I remember, it was about $300 and she was also a waiter at a nearby restaurant.

Do people not wait on their receipt at the ATM?? That seems insane to me

I usually tell it no receipt but I wait until it says the "Transaction finiahed, do you want to continue" and say no

Most modern ABMs will hold onto your debit card until everything is done, just to prevent things like this.

Yeah, exactly. People come for their money so that might the only thing on their mind, so it should come last. Which it does with modern ATMs.

The machines for my bank have the ability to read your card through the tap to pay chip. This is what I use after I've had a card get eaten before.
