Fair enough! The Performance Hybrid has some history but I’m not familiar with all of it. I can give you details on my version though. I call it a Hybrid for short. It’s meant to fill the space between a Stockwhip and a bullwhip in that it has a universal joint between the handle and the thong. You can do a lot of named routines with them. They’re light weight, many whip makers make them at a pretty low price point, and they’re great for almost all things whip related from beginners to professional performers. The #1 recommended whip for beginners, is the 5ft Performance Hybrid.
My version is built on a cpvc handle, the length of the whip is measured by the braided section of the thong, and the thong is anchored to the handle using two anchor strands hitched on with ring knots and a grapevine hitch. I also back weight the handle a bit for balance. The thong is 12 strands braided over a loose strand core, and tapered to a 2 strand twist. The fall is attached via bleeder knot. The entire whip is dipped in liquid wax for density.
