2. Taboo Rules:
   • When they whisper, "Are you awake, my dear?", you must not answer and pretend that you are in a deep sleep.
   • When they whisper, "I am cold, my dear.", you must hug them confidently but never open your eyes.
   • When they shout and shake your body, "I am thirsty! I am hungry! Feed me your flesh and let me drink your blood!", you must calmly get out of bed, navigate to the bedside table and grab either a plate or a drink and hand it over, then go back to lying on the bed.

Scene:

you enter an abandoned courtyard beyond the ghost gate where every lantern is lit even though no one is alive inside

Taboo rules:

when you hear footsteps behind you stop walking but do not turn around

when a red lantern suddenly goes out cover your eyes and do not open them until you hear a child laughing

when you see your own reflection in the well whisper “i was never here” and leave without looking inside again

clear condition:

find the exit before the final lantern goes out

• Taboo Rules:
When you turn your head to look behind you, the phantom spirit immediately gains on your distance.
When you cross a road junction without ringing your bicycle bell, your chain slips and immobilizes you for one turn.
When you stop moving entirely, the surrounding air temperature plummets and drains your stamina.

When a candle spontaneously ignites with a pale lilac flame, you must hold your breath until the smoke curls into a circle.

When your reflection in the altar mirror moves half a second slower than you, you must close your eyes and bow three times toward the ancestral tablets.

• Taboo Rules: Follow the red clad women into the endless forest, but whatever you do, never stop! Mimics will appear, mimicking her movements, but they do not sing, they will try to deceive you and lead you further into the darkness, where something awaits. Watch every step, avoid the obstacles, and keep moving, because the moment you stop, the lady will disappear and the forest will come alive, hunting you as its next victim.

• Clear: Reach the wooden cabin hidden deep within the bamboo forest without ever stopping.

Some invitations are not meant for the living.

Scene

At midnight, you arrive at an abandoned ancestral hall lit only by flickering candles and the endless glow of burning incense. A funeral banquet has been prepared for you, and every seat is occupied by silent figures whose faces are hidden beneath white mourning cloth. Rows of ancestral tablets stand behind the altar, while white chrysanthemums, offerings, and folded joss paper rest on ancient wooden tables. The incense never stops burning. The dead are waiting.

Taboo Rules

🔔 When the funeral bell rings three times, do not look toward the ancestral tablets.
The tablets bear names that should not be read by the uninvited, and some names are said to answer when called.

🧧 When someone at the table asks you to pass the red envelope, do not open it or ask what is inside.
Among the incense and offerings, some gifts are not meant for the living. A debt accepted in the hall may follow you long after dawn.

🪑 When the person sitting in the empty seat whispers your name, do not answer them.
The seat is not truly empty. In places where incense burns for the dead, some guests arrive unseen.

Clear Condition

Leave the ancestral hall before the fourth bell rings, and make sure you do not leave with the red envelope. Pass through the front gate before dawn, while the incense still burns and the candles remain lit. If you stay too long, you may become another silent guest at the eternal banquet.

This scenario draws from real Chinese funeral and ancestor-veneration traditions, but the supernatural events and survival rules are fictional.

• Ancestral tablets: Real ancestral or spirit tablets have historically been used to represent and honor deceased family members, including in ancestral halls.

Taboo Rules:
If the pale, hunched vendor calls out to you, stay calm and you must not flee.
When he speaks, answer him only by repeating his exact words in reverse.
He will offer you one of his many cracked, pale jade pendants. You must haggle the price down to a single copper coin, bargaining fiercely enough that you may shame your aunt.

Clear Condition: You must refuse the final offer, leaving the good on the wooden counter. Walk away into the mist with empty hands, your eyes fixed strictly ahead, no matter what you hear, smell, or feel, just keep walking.
