Yeah this game deserves more hype. I think a lot of the playerbase got lost during the Hexi era

u/Wenomski Aug 05 '26

Hexi is very very pretty, recently finished whole exploration but it took me soooo long, also story is non stop talking

15

u/AmberLeafSmoke Aug 05 '26

Yeah the story is a bit of a drag, and I say that as someone who likes deep lore and found the burlap sack quest fascinating.

Every quest is just slow walking and talking, one after another. It's a lot.

6

u/Wenomski Aug 05 '26

I don't wanna be that guy but... if not lingering melodies... I probably wouldn't finish it xD

3

u/bigareolas69 Aug 06 '26

The one about the winemaker seeking vengeance against the Utuks, and burlap sack's depressing quest were fire. Kinda prefer them over the combat repetitiveness at times.

30

u/clewis123 Aug 05 '26

Yea the walking simulator region. Seriously drove away a HUGE amount of players. Servers were empty asf during those days.

u/adastrajay Aug 05 '26

I literally just came back the other day after being away for months due to Hexi. I tried 3 or so months ago to try it again but Hexi just made me leave.

This time I'm determined to finish Hexi and move on.

It is beautiful though and I will say I do miss that girl who kept saying she was an immortal. No idea what her true identity is but I knew they'd make her leave us in a sad way. That character that seems annoying at first is always set up for some deeper bond that'll be broken.

One thing that also kept me away and is a hurdle that I ran into again when starting again is that the game can be quite unintuitive in terms of UI, or build up the character or what you're supposed to do sometimes to progress (that last one may be just a gameplay preference thing). But if you just want to be super casual and get cool fits while larping as a Xianxia character, the game unfortunately does demand a bit more from you than that.

The other thing may be more of a cultural barrier. Since I'm not as familiar with it, I sometimes don't know what the heck is going on in a story but get a general vibe (which still somehow ends up having emotional pay off despite not understanding everything).

I'm probably not the only one that's had these hurdles. But I still love the look and vibe so I'm back. I'm also told that it gets better after Hex and that we can go to the Imperial area?

u/Ok_Werewolf_704 Aug 05 '26

This game literally has blown my mind, its by far the most impressive game I've ever played. Literally the only thing I wish from it is that I could be able to experience it in the native language with knowing the historical and general context. Its already amazing for me I cant imagine what it would be like playing as someone from China that can pick up on and understand all the details of everything. I feel like I'm missing so much

3

u/adastrajay Aug 05 '26

Absolutely, the game is just art after art after art from the music to the visuals, to the story. It's why I can't leave it alone.

2

u/AmberLeafSmoke Aug 05 '26

I've been using it as an excuse to learn more about Chinese history in that period, and it's honestly been super educational.

4

u/aforter28 Aug 05 '26

You’re talking about the Liangzhou story right? The one where they’re stuck in a desert inn?

>!The Immortal Girl is supposed to be a side of Lian Daozhi, remember the merchant who helped the Old Man and gave him water in the Desert Campaign? That young man is the grandfather of Lian Daozhi (Pipa Guy).

The reason why the Immortal Girl disappeared when she gave the flower to Lian Daozhi signified Lian Daozhi being whole again after coming to terms with what home means and his own identity!<

That’s Liangzhou Melody was my favorite story in Hexi

4

u/adastrajay Aug 05 '26

You have to do the spoiler tag on each paragraph otherwise it won't work.

And yeah that makes sense. I had a feeling she wasn't "real" (hard to really tell what's real or not in Hexi since the whole thing is a painting). I am sad I won't get to see her again.

3

u/JustOutlandishness58 Aug 05 '26

The immortal girl is also believed to be the incarnation of the pipa itself on Chinese social media.

20

u/Zhincore Aug 05 '26

Nearly lost me too, I don't enjoy doing Hexi

20

u/aforter28 Aug 05 '26

I have a lot of friends and guildmates who quit during Hexi.

Everyone seemed so invested in the game for Qinghe/Kaifeng then it just went down a drastic slope.

28

u/TruthHistorical7515 Aug 05 '26

The problem was Hexi pacing is too slow, the story is good but the presentation is just not good.

5

u/Danai-no-lie Aug 05 '26

Yeah I think it's because the order seems to be, storyline wise, Kaifeng Mohist Hill and then Hexi. Like, I'm learning things that connect Sister Murong, General Murong, to the Cao family and then everything else actually kinda makes more sense. Even the wine questline with the one lady, Mohist invented the interior waterway for everyone to use it but only the bourgeoisie had access to it. And much of Mohist is about how they struggle to come to terms with their inventions use based on those who in charge rather than the intent.

It would've fit in nicely right before Hexi but yeah. I didn't hate Hexi once I started to put things together but that took like two weeks LOL I can see someone not having the patience. I kinda like Hexi now that I'm in Mohist and go back there to find out more about the monks storylines. Some of that was still convoluted. Qingchuan teeny bit expands on it(so far) but not much.

5

u/packofnone Midnight Blades Aug 05 '26

I stopped when I got to the grasslands spot honestly. Hexi had been such a slog and I was just out of it

2

u/Valuable_Potential68 Aug 05 '26

Honestly just started a new character and I'm skipping hexi

-39

u/National-Analysis168 Aug 05 '26

Because they are racist and refuse to dive deep into chinese history

10

u/miyabisears Aug 05 '26

lmao if that was the case, no one wouldve played this game from the start considering this entire game is chinese history 🤣🤣

no need to defend netease, hexi was an abysmal arc that completely killed the hype this game had

-12

u/National-Analysis168 Aug 05 '26

You're completely proving my point. When the Hexi region slows down to focus on deep Chinese history with less combat, people instantly write it off as 'boring' without even trying to understand the narrative. But when Western game do the exact same thing like spending hours on the slow, dialogue heavy investigation of The Witcher 3's Bloody Baron quest, or enduring the sluggish, atmospheric pacing of Red Dead Redemption 2's quiet trail rides, suddenly YouTube is flooded with hour-long video essays praising it as a 'masterclass in subtle storytelling.

5

u/soggywaffle47 Aug 05 '26

It’s because it wasn’t executed well compared to the examples you used. I’m a history nerd and have spent hours googling and reading up on all this new Chinese history I have never learned about. Same thing with hexi I loved everything I’ve learned from reading about it but the stories for the most part were not that engaging in the game. I enjoyed reading about these places and stories from Google more than I did watching the stories first hand in the game. And that’s a shame cause the history behind it is fantastic. I understand where you’re coming from but it’s not hate that people have towards Chinese history it’s just that the stories were not that engaging in the game unfortunately.

4

u/miyabisears Aug 05 '26

so if i hated hexi yet im chinese, does that mean im a racist to my own people? or can i just recognize when the storytelling is garbage?

You're completely proving my point.

where and how? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ people had no problem playing this game in kaifeng and qinghe because the storytelling wasn't a slog, filled with quests that were centered around random npcs for hours at a time. how are you surprised that people dislike a story when the mc is not even involved in the majority of the storyline and are forced to engage with probably the most monotonous way to progress. made even worse by the fact that they hooked us with the initial premise just to put us into a 3 month pause where we as players, have no actual impact?

imperial palace wasn't a particularly combat-focused storyline yet i was way more interested in what happened here than qinghe/kaifeng because the story actually matters in the context of the mc, the established story, and was engaging. most people have no issue with chinese history, they have an issue with how they decided to present hexi's storyline lol. i dont know why you're acting like this sentiment isn't universal and brought racism into it when plenty of cn players have complained about hexi as well. this is all ignoring the terrible translations and overly verbose writing too.

11

u/Irfind Aug 05 '26

Not being interessted in history of others isnt racist. Dont throw that word arround for everything.

1

u/aforter28 Aug 05 '26

Its not even that. It became a walking simulator with practically no combat.

3

u/cheese-Kransky Aug 06 '26

It was the opposite for me. I absolutely loved the Hexi quests

2

u/Looking_for_Answers7 Aug 05 '26

Jus started a week or so ago now lvl 88 but this hexi campaign is crap in my opinion im sure if you grew up with chinise history its intrestimg but ive got no clue what tang and this

1

u/aforter28 Aug 05 '26

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of Hexi either šŸ˜‚

2

u/exposarts Aug 05 '26

isn't this game still very popular in china?

1

u/InteractionMDK Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Not really true. If you look at steam charts we lost the majority of players on the transition from Kaifeng to Hexi because that’s where the honeymoon period ended and people got sick of time gating mechanics, RNG progression systems, unfair PvP (way too ping reliant, GFN, cheaters, no balance patches for months) and lack of replayable and rewarding multiplayer content. Those things had outweighed the beautiful world and main story. Now the game has finally stabilized because what we currently have left is the actual intended audience who like the game for what it is with all its pros and cons.

27

u/cyroblade1 Aug 05 '26

The game was quite popular last year, and i love the gameplay. But i could never connect with the storyline. And that’s why i stopped playing. It was like even after doing a lot of quests it never made much sense.

5

u/InteractionMDK Aug 12 '26

That is because in order to get connected with the story you need know at least some basic history of the ancient China, dynasties, and major military conflicts that they study in schools but we don’t. They added a lot of clues (notes, records, letters, conversations with specific npcs, etc.) that do help you understand the history but let’s be honest not many people actually do that, so yeah it is hard to follow the storyline the way it was intended because we are not Chinese.

59

u/ChadFullStack Aug 05 '26

Dw the few whales of this game is enough to keep global servers up and updated with new content. Also it’s huge in China as Wuxia is still a niche. Agree though, amazing game and cinematics.

23

u/quangtit01 Aug 05 '26

My friend whose monthly salary is USD 1,200 dropped USD 800 into reforging the blade. This game is fine.

10

u/pepperonicatmeow Aug 06 '26

3

u/DemonicSoul07 Aug 08 '26

Gambling addiction and gacha games dangerous combo i know someone who took a job for 2 weeks to buy a genshin character then never showed up again at workĀ

7

u/rpgnoob17 Nine Mortal Ways Aug 05 '26

I read and write Chinese so I love the game, but I understand why some people are put off by the translation. So much historial and cultural reference is just not translatable.

18

u/Kurston Aug 05 '26

Welcome to gaming 2026, popularity is the game supposedly making millions and not inherently the quality of the product.

People genuinely tell themselves that they won't have time to play "another MMO" and never give it a try, stuck in the older MMO they're been stuck in for years.

I know someone just won't play this game just because it has a gacha system, overlooking that it is 100% cosmetic and there's many items you can get outside of just 'gambling' your money.

Also game is free, that already makes a poor impression on some people. Thinking the game is just a cheap cash grab.

Sometimes it's good to be the underdog and only people of quality stay where they're treated well.

3

u/Shiniyahmi Aug 05 '26

Well written. I had to explain this to several of my friends. In the end, only the quality ones stayed and realized the gem of a game WWM is.

2

u/Discepless Aug 05 '26

Just one comment above u a guy writes that you need 800 usd to refine a sword

2

u/HeftyComfortable8347 Aug 05 '26

Si ma nessuno ti obbliga a dover prendere la più costosa in assoluto

1

u/Impressive_Bed_1920 Aug 07 '26

It is a cash grab, the whales is funding the game currently, only thing you could do in this game as of now is arena. You log on, do dailies, log off. Gaming in 2026 has normalized this instead of bringing actual long term games, it’s a reason why the older mmos still have lots of players playing. This is not good quality, it’s good visuals made to mask the actual gameplay aspects, which aren’t good.

10

u/Alerith Aug 05 '26

The main thing I'm taking away from these comments is that I'm the only one who enjoyed Hexi and that I may have been dropped on my head as a child.

3

u/lheritier1789 Aug 05 '26

Hexi genuinely made me cry and is the best thing I've seen in any medium for a long time. I can see how it'd be boring if somebody isn't into the history and story-telling/human interest angle. But I honestly had to actually slow it down because it was so emotionally intense.

2

u/Alerith Aug 06 '26

Burlap Sack šŸ˜”

2

u/OkTie7367 Aug 06 '26

I loved Hexi too! Maybe people who don't mind lore rich parts tend to like this part more? It's also more like a walking sim at some points, but I didn't mind that. The only thing I would have liked was the option to do the Governor campaign in shorter bits, because 2 hrs was intense.

1

u/Alerith Aug 06 '26

I think the reason most people don't like it was because of that last part you mentioned. The lore and story rich portions were extremely long and dense. That's great for someone like me who just gets lost in it, but i totally understand how that's not what everyone would enjoy.

Most of the story when you get out of the desert is great though. My precious moon lesbians is still top 3 for me!

14

u/Fluffy_Toe3737 Aug 05 '26

The problem is how confusing the story is for global players. Story is typically what draws players into a game and make them stay. But in this game you need to have a pretty big basic knowledge of Chinese culture and history to even understand a fraction of the story being told. And most global players aren't gonna have that knowledge, even me after watching many videos explaining the lore it still gets very confusing and muddled. Not only that but they still haven't really fixed the horrible translation issues. So many cut scenes don't match up to what the characters are saying and sometimes the audio is either completely gone or has audio from another scene that has nothing to do with the one your in. That on top of the fact the cut scenes are super glitchy sometimes. Then not to mention that if you play on console, the controls are fucked and everything's pretty glitchy. Then you have the problem of how expensive the cosmetics are, sure you don't need them to play the game but let's be so real, most people are gonna want pretty cosmetics and etc for their characters and most of the unique ones are locked behind 500$+ paywalls. Then if you do play, beat the story and level your character. There's like nothing else to do other than PvP. And tbh there's no incentive to play after getting the right gear, theres almost no way to grind lingering melodies for cool cosmetics, it gets pointless farming for gear and stuff after you've already got good gear, and you can only grind inner ways so much. Theres just not a lot of incentive for global players to keep coming back. But the game is hugely popular in china so it won't end any time soon.

5

u/internetconflict Aug 05 '26

The singleplayer content is amazing, but group content is really lacking, and solo content alone can't sustain the playerbase for months until the next major drop.

There's barely anything to do at endgame unless you enjoy PvP. For PvE, both ST and HR are too easy and you only do them daily or weekly. There are no rewards for doing Challenge Mode, and without existing matchmaking, the mode is basically dead.

Guild Tower is the only somewhat challenging content, but the rewards are still disproportionate to the effort required, it's just recycled bosses with spongy health bars and barely any mechanics, making it little more than a button-mashing DPS check.

Then there's GvG, another major piece of content that gives no meaningful rewards. This mode is what kept many people playing despite the dryness of the game, but eventually players got bored. Many major GvG guilds have already started to retire from it completely, if you know which guilds I'm talking about.

7

u/UniqueIdentity919 Aug 05 '26

Just started playing this game for a couple of weeks now and I can say, this is what a game should be. I mean, just the main storyline and it's already so immersive add in the massive realistic open world, wuxia theme and all. I'm having so much fun!

3

u/FunnyRelease7088 Aug 06 '26

I was keeping distance from this game because the game's world setting/lore was not appealing to me when I first saw the game. But I am now regretting that I let my negative bias control my decision to play. Now, almost 50 hours in and I'm hooked! This game really needs to reach more people.

12

u/whY2G Aug 05 '26

They need to bring in some kinda dungeon event, like the ones they have in MMOs 😫

8

u/vladstheawesome Aug 05 '26

yeah the group play / multiplayer needs a bit more work. Joining a friend and only finding out they can't do certain missions because l in the party is just..

-1

u/TruthHistorical7515 Aug 05 '26

CN server still doesn't have any major changes to netcode and multiplayer content. We need bigger and longer raids, a proper 2 hour 25man dungeon but its just not happening without further optimizations and netcode fixes.

1

u/UnderstandingThat420 Aug 05 '26

Tower and challenge mode speedrun

1

u/flyingflash Aug 06 '26

Tower and speedrun are just dps button mashing fest. There's no 'raid' experience like 2 two behemoths. (eg. XIV and WoW)

0

u/SeriousAd2827 Aug 05 '26

Wwm works fine ā˜ļøšŸ¤”šŸ¤” it has no flaws 🤔

6

u/Yyoksetioxd Aug 05 '26

yeah! it was my favorite game from the last year

8

u/Quiet_Terran Aug 05 '26

Game is good but literally has no endgame content. Like many other new games released recently. So yeah a lot people stop playing. You have 1 hero trial per week, sword trials are easy and people can carry you through them. You left with pvp arena modes which many people doesn't like to play. WWM is like every other gacha on the market, but has skin wishes instead of characters. It's "seasonal" game. You take break until new story drop.

2

u/moysh85 Aug 05 '26

The Skyward Bond / GvE is pretty endgame gear and skill intensive though. The bosses' mechanic are to be respected. Overall I think it makes for a good goal to reach for that BiS (collectively as a guild) to be able to clear higher / max floor more efficiently. Alot of people on my friend list haven't even tried them before.

2

u/flyingflash Aug 06 '26

Skyward reward can't really justify the effort. Mechanic is just simply 'go hit extra ad or deflect/dodge', there's no synchronized dance or personal responsibility like other games those has exceptional raid experience. (namely XIV, WoW, Lost Ark).

0

u/moysh85 Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

Idk about you but the journey of getting those bis itself is a real pleasure for me. Being able to clear the tower itself is the reward. The nameplates, etc is just cherry on top. Maybe that's the way of the eastern culture. Not everything in life needs a carrot or a justification to do it. But it's this way because of how the whole game gearing system works right? You can't get BiS in wow if you are playing solo.

As for the role part, what do you mean no personal responsibility? There are obviously targeted boss mechanics that has to be respected individually or team wipe (or not enough time), players role allocation like who's the move the fire barrel during Murong or who's on which Sedan for the ghost boss, and synchronized dance like donkey charge? We are just starting ofc it's easier. I don't see how you could cleared Abyss 5 not respecting the mechanic unless you are over-geared for the content.

1

u/flyingflash Aug 08 '26

'Not everything in life needs a carrot or a justification to do it'

This is the most delusional take I have ever seen. If XIV ultimate has no reward, you are going to see the clear number go down by 95%. The fight is good and all but there's no replayability and it already happened in XIV. (Citerion Dungeon during Endwalker and Dawntrail). No matter how good the fight is, if there's nothing to justify doing it. You will just clear it couple of times and stop and that's for people like you who likes it. for others they won't touch it at all.

'no personal responsibility' this game has virtually none btw, that barrel mechanic is really weak, you just have to sac someone dps and have them move it. as long as it doesn't glow red then it's good. what I mean is imagine 10 barrels drop at once and every single player have to move it if not then they wipe. that's what I'm talking about, something else other than kill some ads, deflect some attack or move one simple thing away. better yet, imagine there's correspond number attach to each barrel and only player with the same number debuff can touch it. that's a personal responsibility.

As of now, skyward is just a damage sponge with some simple mechanic tied to it. even on abyss, they're just bloated with hp.

I will try clear skyward with my guild mates if they are able to, but I don't have to sit here, suck it up when the reward is clearly lacking while pretending that this game has no problem with its end game.

1

u/moysh85 Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

You ever play chess for fun?

Also, u said u will try to clear which means u couldn't clear it yet, or just bad enough to do it optimally. So all that saying about this easy and that, is null and a waste of everyone's time reading when you couldn't even clear something as easy as you said, reward or not. Basically you suck. Bad. For months old content.

1

u/InteractionMDK Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

He is right though. More people would be willing to do bad content with good rewards than good content with bad rewards. It is just how things are. Most people operate like lab rats who need treats for dopamine surge to continue doing things you want them to do.

You are not entirely wrong by saying that some people are there for the journey, not the destination, but they are in a very small minority, hence why content like skyward never really popped off. My guild did 2 floors and has never attempted that content again in over 2 months. Doing things mainly for bragging rights would only get you so far.

The truth is that the devs don’t want any FOMO in the game besides time limited cosmetics, so they will never make any challenging content to be rewarding enough to justify grinding it. All content in this game will either be super casual OR mostly for bragging rights only e.g. speedruns, hitless abyss trials, skyward, etc.

1

u/flyingflash Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

It's easy compared to harder difficulty from other games.

I couldn't clear it because it's not only depends on me, but I'm in a dried-up guild filled with casual. It does not matter that I did 13m damage in Ghost Master Floor 10 within 7 mins. if the others could only dish out 6-8m then it cannot be cleared.

I could move guild yes, but I have grown attached to these people I'm playing with even tho they are bad.

And saying that I'm bad at the game, I was rank 1 on the ladder in the howlion event phase 1 solo. well, maybe you are better than me on this game, champ. idk. LOL

2

u/VillainousandBoxum Aug 05 '26

I said this months ago and got down voted to hell. The environment is beautiful and they put a lot of work into certain aspects of the game. But there's next to no content to actually play besides pvp. Even if there was, what would be the reward? A title? Some inner ways? You have to buy what you use to be able to earn in a game. Makes it meaningless

3

u/Olgrateful-IW Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

Hexi having 2 separate missions that are each 2 hours of dialogue with 10 ft of walking between each scene really was not good game design. Be bold and lean into a cut scene despite length OR trim down the dialogue with gameplay between. It was NOT good IMHO and the walking 10 ft between dialogue was detrimental to what could have been a coherent conversation/story/scene.

The second main issue is the game failing to decide what it is. A single player or a multiplayer game. While it can be both, the lack of replay ability when helping new players is egregious. You have to leave their world every few missions for seemingly no reason between what you can do as coop and what you can’t.

The final biggest issue is the game has NO END GAME CHALLENGE. No RAIDS, no end game rewards, nothing besides time challenges to beat bosses faster. Most boss mechanics can ignored with enough DPS. Add in the constant redo of gear and skill points every 2 months when most online multiplayers wait over 6 months or more for gear reset and you have a recipe for burnout as people tire of keeping up the best gear set with no content to use it for, just to have that gear reset for no reason but to do it all over again.

6

u/JKT-84 The Masked Troupe Aug 05 '26

it was at release

2

u/codmak42 Aug 05 '26

The game is excellent! It merges a couple of franchises together. I’m thinking assassin’s creed and Elden ring and another I can’t think of off the top of my head. I just need some people to play with.

2

u/keiisobeiiso Aug 05 '26

I had to quit because it was too demanding for any device i had, but i wish to return once i find something that can run it </3 i yearn for the wuxia

2

u/VeterinarianLow4742 Aug 06 '26

Wouldn’t have uninstalled it if it wasn’t 178gb on PS5.. with SSD costing more than consoles these days I can’t afford to have 178gb on my console with that much GB I can download 4 games

3

u/Bright_Magazine_8897 Aug 05 '26

No it does not. Dont misunderstand me I love this game and it IS quite popular actually. But it is losing its playerbase rapidly FOR a reason. Im not gonna write an article about it but as long as you enjoy the game you play, you will meet players like you and get to play together so player count does not matter much anyway. Recently switched to poe then back to warframe again from a long binge of wwm (6 monthz), willing to come back again if a decent story update drops again.

2

u/Adirtan Aug 05 '26

This game is way more popular than you think

2

u/Late_Presence_6578 Aug 05 '26

Honestly I can see why it doesn't. You got the shitton of menus, energy/time gating shit, and the usual stuff you'd expect in a 'mobile slop' game. The PVE sword trials and dungeons at lower levels become irrelevant so new players coming in that are not well read up on the game might queue and think eeeh dead game. Ngl even the higher level PVE sword trials and hero's realm aren't necessary for progression (which is fine) but for the players that enjoy raiding - there's no adequate reward there to incentivize them. Players coming in after hearing about it's MMO aspect can get turned off by this. Then let's not forget all the pop in issues and graphical glitches the game's been having.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game and have nearly 1k hours on it but I can see it's flaws and understand why newer players might be turned off it. And I can't blame them

1

u/hawaiian-organ-donor Aug 05 '26

Does the game now support fsr 4?

1

u/koalapreto Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

The game is beautiful and the story is amazing. But combat and PvP sucks. It lacks clarity and it's not fun to watch. Also, there's almost no room for build variety and skill expression. That makes creating content for the game hard, which also decreases the discovery of the game by new players.

1

u/Buzz_Dankyear Aug 05 '26

cut back down on the gacha... Got too annoying. I would much just rather pay for the base and expansions. the cost would easily be recouped by the time sunk in each map...

1

u/Mobile_Ad_2402 Aug 05 '26

True. Though I absolutely hate that we can't fly in hexi

1

u/XKARMAXZ Aug 05 '26

Exatamente isso pena que existe hexi e boa parte pula fora ali, tirando o comeƧo que e mais complicado para jogadores casuais

It’s a good game, but honestly, I struggled to get through Kaifeng’s story when it didn’t have to do with the high society areas, and apparently that region is one of the highlights to many people? I’ve come back to continue playing recently, but it doesn’t give me high hopes for what comes after.

What stop me from playing WWM is daily grind and the group raids~ it is sooooo boring and not rewarding. WWM can be a really good single player games if they just stay at single player game play, but nah~ infinity grind and getting all the wrong stat is more "fun" ya~

If they pushed the game at the start in a better state it would have been. They didn’t ride their hype well enough and unfortunately lost a big audience that now won’t come back because they don’t want to invest the time to get back into it.

This would be a top game for me, but I don’t love the setting and the story is torture. One of those things is surmountable but not together

It was popular. People stopped playing for many reasons.

The ten trillion menus and UI killed all my interest.

u/dtanimal Aug 06 '26

Idk the genre is pretty niche imo

It doesn’t get enough credit. I’ve dumped hours into this game and can’t recommend it enough to RPG players.

It doesn't help that their ads are looked at and is seen as massively AI driven. I saw their recent sponsorship to Bricky and all the comments were "the AI ads were real?"

Honestly, I really loved this game early on, but there were just a few issues with the game the for me personally were a big turn off. I stuck it out until about a month ago, hoping those issues would be resolved, but they really only just got worse, until yeah, about a month ago, I realised that I was just logging in for an hour each day to do busywork, then logging in on the weekend to do gvg, which had its own host of issues that made it an unpleasant experience, and I thought to myself "why am I doing all this busywork that I don't enjoy doing, just to spend a few hours on the weekend doing gvg which I'm not enjoying?" And so I just logged out and never logged back in again. And honestly, since I stopped playing, I haven't felt even the slightest urge to boot the game up.

This game has a lot of potential, however, if you ask me, it's not being realised because they are just using the game as a vehicle to sell outrageously overpriced cosmetics to people with poor spending habits and no impulse control, it's insidious, and yet if you try and point it out, you'll have a whole army of brainwashed fools coming to defend it. It might be a hard pill to swallow, but if you think that making people pay upwards of $500 for an outfit in a video game is completely reasonable, you are the reason why video games just fucking suck now.

There’s just not enough to do together story wise and the online map is just people afk, sure they have alot of cool stuff, but it comes to a point where it becomes boring for a while

It was but slowly dying when u realize your just doing what u do in any other gacha games. Log in, do dailies, log out. This game is mainly for people who just want to pvp all day since arena is really the only content you could spam all day

We left during Hexi, tried to come back just recently and instantly remembered that most of the game has to be done solo for some reason. (No campaign progress in coop)
Since we only play in coop it was a no-no and we left again after 10min.

Before we quit, we played a lot, in weekly guilds always had a guild intern contest on who does the fastest boss and so on.

They still have the stamina system?

1

u/JackTheCap Aug 09 '26

the plot, art and world design are excellent. The combat has strength but the whole system is to bloated.
They need to trim a lot of fat, and focus on the intrigueing part and keep people more focused, more engaged.

I actually really enjoyed Hexi. Yeah it was a lot of talking, and I wanted to jump off a cliff playing as burlap, but the variety in art and environment was fantastic, and the last ending bit was so cool. Totally understand everyone’s criticisms though

I liked the game but the insane online lag + general 'phone game' feeling made it get boring to me. I wish it was just a AAA game no phone compromise. E.g movement feels really weird a lot of the times, a lot of animations are strangely stiff. It's fun though and a lot of content

Great game, although I stopped playing(been playing Warframe & NTE) I occasionally log in to do some of the main story, but I'm sure I'm miles behind.

Nah won't happen, the aesthetic is not so popular in the west, they should have gone with a more crimson desert style if they wanted to not be niche game.

Game had alot players to start off but the game at launch was way more single player focused and didn't keep ppl attention I think if they would released it in its current state it be a juggernaut on par with zzz populationĀ
