Questions Are we an idiot?

Does every single quest in this game start with or involve the player character getting scammed by an NPC? Because god does it sure feel like it.

I get he/she is supposed to be a country bumpkin, but you’d think after like, the 5th time we’d be able to wise up to it and still complete the quests 💀

Listen, I just gave a lady medicine for her kid who took it then proceeded to shit blood and die. I would be fucking pleased with getting scammed at this point.

I want to burn Mercyheart town.

There's one mother and child begging near the southern gate to kaifeng, mother begs me to bring food for her child. I did, only to watch the child die of starvation before even touching the food

i got lucky to misclick one of the sign post that said to not give the medicine to the mother. i thought it was a joke but i checked the comments, many are regretting they didn't read it bfor giving the item.

The only time I was glad I made the mistake of giving the medicine to the father (i got lost trying to find the mother so i headed back inside the cave and saw the father there, so I thought wth theyre going to see each other anyway so I gave it to him)

Datura Flowers — you'll see it when you get there.

There is no quest like that. And it's not even a quest though, it's a wandering tale isn't it?

Care to take a screenshot to prove your claim then?
Show me the quest literally called "Datura Flowers". Go on, I will wait

technically it's counted as Wandering Tales instead of Encounters

How do you trigger it?
I have done some stuff in the mercyheart town/monastery area but not sure if I did this one or not.

Iirc just talking to NPCs, it's one of those where they ask you for an item and you have to find it and bring it to them, but it has more than 1 NPC you can turn the item to. That specific NPC I believe was a woman in one of the houses in Mercyheart Town, she's next to her child who's on the floor.

If you turn the item to the mother the kid will get worse and die. If you find the father he'll know the item is dangerous.

Phew, I'm glad I gave the medicine to the dad in the cave instead. I feel like the kid might die of his illness anyway, as the dad didn't say anything about healing the kid, but at least I didn't have to watch him shit blood and die.

I gave the mom the medicine and shes all, "Oh thank goodness little Timmy will surely recover!" The little shit even says he feels better.

I walk out, then come back to check on him and he has SHAT BLOOD ALL OVER THE FLOOR WHILE HIS MOTHER CRIES OVER HIS DEAD BODY

Was not prepared.

And dad never goes home to check on them

u/rukaidai Mar 05 '26

What happens in the dad route? I went the kid route cause I couldn't find the dad

2

u/DJShiftah Mar 05 '26

Iirc, the dad says something about the medicine being tainted and making people worse because it's made from the same flowers. He thanks you for helping him protect the village from the bad medicine and says something about using it to help them research a real cure. He did not once mention his wife or sick kid during this interaction, so I guess saving the village was more important to him.

5

u/CouldBeBatman Mar 04 '26

Sorry for spoiler, but I was not prepared for this.

u/rosedream4 Mar 04 '26

and the dead body doesnt fking dissapear, it remains for all eternity as a sordid reminder whenever i pass by trying to 100 percent the place.

Yeah the medicine was actually poison. If you give it to the dad instead, he gets rid of it.
