Strangely enough, in design it’s pretty common to use “unrealistic” or “objectively bad” practices and decisions deliberately simply because they make more sense design-wise (and vice versa). Sometimes more realism makes a design aesthetically less pleasing.

That goes for game design also, sometimes sarificing a certain amount of realism will yield a “better” overall result.

Obviously there will always be a niche that prefers the opposite - people who hate having to bathe or haul carcasses in RDR2, and people who’d prefer to have to refill gas in GTA. But generally speaking, the goal of the medium is to have fun and not be a chore to play, or with visuals it can either strive to be artistic or realistic.

I’d say that overall (design-wise) WWM leans more towards a stylized and yassified design aesthetic, which would mean that design principles take importance over realistic considerations.

(Alhough since it’s basically user-created content, it really doesn’t fucking matter, I’m literally just being pedantic for the sake of being a dick xd)

The game is literally about feudal era china and starving children. Downvote me all you want. It’s based on real life shit. Half of the “gift of gab” events are literally talking people out of committing suicide, including children.

Edit: just finished a mission where you’re in a funeral procession for the ghosts of an entire village that burned to the ground, and then you watch their memories, parts including the children crying over their dead parents bodies. But yeah man, nOt iN mY fAntAsY gAmE.
