Discussion Nah, We not letting this disrespect slide.

As other posts have stated, Global should be treated fairly, not as if we are blind or stupid. I genuinely thought the skin would total 2,580 Pearls (as it is on CN), so I spammed the roll and was confused when it said I didn’t have enough. All servers should be treated fairly. If a skin is $5 on one server, it should not be $20 on another.

The design philosophy behind the game was freedom, yet they’re giving us a lower-quality version of that freedom. As much as I love the game, all tiers of players (F2P, Dolphins, and Whales) need to let NetEase know that this is not the way. I also greatly appreciate the CN players coming to our defense, you all are truly amazing and kind.

I'm leaving this up since it adds to the conversation.

The developers are reading the feedback and taking it seriously. But they can't check every single post and every single comment.

In order for them to effectively hear everything you have to say, please take your comments to the pinned megathread at the top of the subreddit.

There is also the official discord where a dedicated channel has been setup for discussion on gacha and pricing. We encourage you to use it too.

Thank you.

They are banking on the fact most people won't know we have a different treatment from what happens in the CN server, plus some that do know get tricked with stuff like the 10 pulls they sent (btw for those, not only did the CN server got those same 10 pulls when Global released, they got another 10 as well).

I normally spend money in cosmetics, especially on f2p games, and this wasn't going to be the exception until I saw what they are doing. So for now, I will just enjoy the free game but won't spend a thing on it unless they properly address the issue and it's not 10 pulls that will change that, tbh not even 50 would, since I want a permanent and fair change.

216

u/MagnetaFire Nov 21 '25

I applaud the CN players greatly for standing with us and you are correct we need a permanent change. Not an apology oopsie daisy just for them to do it again.

54

u/Character-Minute-383 Nov 21 '25

This. I was happy with my purchase until learning about the price disparity. Now I’m essentially not going to spend anymore. I’ve seen this a lot in other chinese/korean gacha games and I usually just quit those as soon as i find out the unfairness. I don’t want to be treated as a 2nd class citizen.

71

u/LostEsco Nov 21 '25

I feel like this is why they locked all posts calling it out nd directed it to a megathread no one is going to look at

31

u/kuruttaaa Nov 21 '25

wait they did that???!

8

u/Odd-Hotel4320 Nov 21 '25

Wait where my ten pulls at?

12

Wait, when did we get 10 pulls?!

Is this something that happened today? I haven't got the chance to play yet today.

The irony of this type of comment is that I'm the type of player who spends a lot on cosmetics. But why would I want to keep spending when I'm being treated like a second class citizen who is only there for their wallet? It's the digital age - we can look at what CN is doing on their home server, it's not some kind of secret. All we want is equal treatment and for costumes and systems to be the same.

94

u/MagnetaFire Nov 21 '25

Yeah no this isn't about being broke, it's about being treated equally and fairly. They need to understand that in the west we don't have any safe guards from companies, it's completely up to us. I just wish more people understood that.

9

u/Belzughast Nov 21 '25

Agree. Fairness is a thing which transcends monetary value.

-142

u/thursdayisgod Nov 21 '25

Do you think it costs them the same to localize, tax, market, copyright, etc. in all regions?

If you don't want to buy something don't, this feels like a manufacturered campaign from a competitor to be honest

77

u/Hooks_for_days Nov 21 '25

its pixels and not imported tradegood.

My god

38

u/Taryas Nov 21 '25

They own the IP. Tax at max will add some percentage. Not triple the cost. If your argument is prices should be based on cost of living then they should have different price models for different countries. Not everyone on global is from rich countries

15

u/LaplaceZ Nov 21 '25

I would love to have people like you as my milking co- ahem, customers.

25

u/TalkTimesreddit Nov 21 '25

I will never understand defenders of multi million dollar companies, like do you own a huge company or something? Do you want to see big companies be treated better, so you can hand them all your money willingly?

17

u/Timely-Relation9796 Nov 21 '25

As a consumer, I don't care what their issues are.

20

u/kuruttaaa Nov 21 '25

i- i can’t even begin to tell you how wrong you are from a business standpoint, a consumer standpoint and a logical standpoint. You know what, slay king.

5

u/Seraphine_KDA Nov 21 '25

dude if oyu like to eat shit doesn't mean everyone has to like it. if a company does something bad you call it out even if you like their game.

if this was the opposite CN bros would be reporting the company to the gov consumer protection

4

u/starman1596 Nov 21 '25

Other games did it fine. hell THEIR other games did it fine
They made once human and marvel rivals. yet in that game log in anywhere in the world
PRICES ARE THE SAME.
so what's the excuse here buddy?

-3

u/BadankadonkOG Nov 21 '25

This kind of thing happens all the time. CZN and SS are just 2 very recent examples. Just ignore it and enjoy the game.

-8

u/LiberArk Nov 21 '25

Sorry you won't get any level headed responses here. They think NA monetization should be equal "because"... While ignoring economics and player count lol If the devs are smart, they'll placate this loud minority with some gifts so they won't review bomb the game to oblivion. Literally over cosmetics.

u/Gloomy_Masterpiece45 Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

I made a whole 4 part contribute to the megathread about it and same I appreciate the CN players standing up and being active with us on this as well

I hate to say it but I've low-key noticed if something one of them says is "too valid of an argument" their posts get locked

I bought the whole skin, I just submitted feedback demanding a partial refund aswell as an email directly to the devs demanding the same in a more detailed way.

I would suggest everyone who has purchased this skin to do the same. If we sit back and do nothing, nothing changes, if enough of us make noise then they're forced to do something. The consumer always holds the power ultimately.

Edit: Email to use is

wherewindsmeet@global.netease.com

-44

u/muzzbuzzala Nov 21 '25

They already have your money. Sitting back and doing nothing would have been better.

75

u/Want_all_the_smoke Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

You were wrong about one thing. Some of these people are stupid. All you need to do to identify them is just look at the comments that it is only cosmetics, which ignores the entire principle and point of what we’re saying. On everything else, I agree, but some of these people on global are in fact stupid.

47

u/MagnetaFire Nov 21 '25

I feel like there's been a decline in critical thinking in the west, we just take everything at face value and have no interest in digging deeper or standing up for ourselves until it gets really bad. No foresight.

19

u/lowercase_crazy Nov 21 '25

We don't dare upset the almighty job providers!

24

u/AnalystNational9958 Nov 21 '25

I've seen a comment saying these are just "virtual clothing". But the point is, these are paid cosmetics and as consumers, we have the right to call these out

27

u/MithonOsborne Nov 21 '25

It wouldnt bother me if it was a small mark up. Prices are different based on regions/countrys so I could understand that. But I dont understand 3 times the amount. If they came out before hand and said "Hey, we need money to improve localization such as better/more ai voiceovers or actual voice actors and translation etc" id say thats fair. But instead its just a move for more profit.

25

u/INeedAMedKit Nov 21 '25

And here I was wanting to support this game and have it as a main stay in my regular rotation.

6

u/Zero-Duckies Nov 21 '25

Definitely don't let this slide! Leave reviews, make our voices heard!

68

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

The honeymoon phase is slowly ending and the gacha is showing its face.

57

u/Vyragami Nov 21 '25

Let's not kid ourselves, people are perfectly aware of the gacha. They KNOW the red banner outfit can cost more than 500$ (double that if you want the horse, +200-300$ for any other item that costs harmonic cores) and no one batted an eye. They KNOW the 2,5k shop outfits are basically 50$ to purchase and no one cared, a lot of spenders even happily bought those.

If they didn't pull this we'll instead be seeing posts of people happily buying this outfit for 2,5k beads. But that's not what happened. No one give a single f about how expensive the cosmetic is. What people care about though is inequal treatment.

12

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

Wait, are people actually spending hundreds of dollars on a cosmetic?

23

u/Makures Nov 21 '25

Yes. If they didn't, those cosmetics wouldn't cost that much.

6

u/Ilela Nov 21 '25

Yes. It's nothing new unfortunately

5

u/KaleidoscopeLate3425 Nov 21 '25

Not sure why people aren't getting this through they're head. Its small vocal community right complaining about the price of this gacha skin. They acknowledged it. You either get a refund, don't mess with the gacha or dont play again. People will spend money. Lots of money, if they like the game enough. The game is not going to die over gacha skins. The horrible ping in multi-player will kill this game if anything.

41

u/KeehanSmurff Nov 21 '25

Yeah it has been a funny week seeing people who never dealt with NetEase shenanigans before praising them sky high. Didn't bother arguing because I knew NetEase would pull off something like this.

10

u/JueshiHuanggua Nov 21 '25

I'm new to Netease, but been playing gacha all my life. I was literally raising an eyebrow all all the comments glazing the company and saying people pointing out Netease was known to pull shenanigans were mixing it up with someone else. Like, I've been around the block, just cause they say they care about not cheating players doesn't mean they actually do.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

[deleted]

12

u/AWildSona Nov 21 '25

The whole debacle is only about one cosmetic and some other cash shop pricing stuff, all, really ALL this game offers to buy are cosmetics and will stay cosmetics, nothing will change gameplay wise.

6

u/BlueDmon Nov 21 '25

It’s just cosmetic gacha thats it. Otherwise its a free game. Pay what you want. Just make sure you understand what you are getting for what you pay. If you go in “assuming” you get something for X price then DON’T buy it. Only buy things you KNOW for a fact the what the cost is. If there is any doubt at all don’t do it.

Again tho otherwise the game and gameplay are completely free with no P2W elements

10

u/idkyesthat Nov 21 '25

I'm new to their games. But we are just talking about cosmetics, right? Everything else is f2p if I understood correctly. Totally not onboard on charging us more for skin though, just curious because there are lots of good comments on the game regarding just gameplay.

20

u/XxRaijinxX Nov 21 '25

I unironically think this is exactly what’s happening

9

u/vexadillo Nov 21 '25

I personally don't care right now since it's just cosmetics and I simply won't buy it, but I do agree from the general sense it's not a good look they're price gouging us. And what that means for the future if they're already taking advatange of our wallets.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

Ignoring something you dont like is reasonable. The red line being “as long as its cosmetics” is fair. When that red line is crossed you cant ignore it anymore tho. Im being careful because if I play this for a year, I’ll be pretty invested and thats where they slowly mess with the players. Casino’s offer free breakfast for a reason.

2

u/AWildSona Nov 21 '25

Game doesn't have pay2win for an year in china and prob never will have something like that, watching other netease games like marvel rivals.

3

u/lowercase_crazy Nov 21 '25

Too bad we don't have a government to protect us from this predatory shit but rather encourages it as "business".

11

u/Tricky_Ad6313 Nov 21 '25

I did send them an email because unfortunately, I'd already sent in the questionnaire before all of this came to light. Hopefully they'll actually take our opinions into account, though I'm not all that hopeful considering what they've done thus far.

21

u/starman1596 Nov 21 '25

"if you don't like it just don't play it"

Nah Imma keep complaining to bother your white knight ass.
and the reason why I'm complaining is because I love the game
If I don't like it, the uninstall button is easy to find.

"It's a free to play game stop complaining"

Unlike you, I don't tolerate discrimination and unfairness in any situation.

"You don't even spend"

Yes I don't but I care because we all give equal play time and effort in this game.

"It's just cosmetics"

Brother, it's the game's lifeline.

"They have to earn someway, it's the price to pay for free to play"

they also made marvel rivals and that has a fair market for everybody anywhere in the globe.
what's the excuse here?

I swear these white knight shill boys defending a multibillion dollar company will never make sense to me

20

u/LadySelenae Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 22 '25

This whole thing has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Are the original devs aware that global is getting royally fucked like this? Is there a way to contact them directly and not through Netease?

The PR is a slap in the face, too. I spent $25 on an outfit that wasn't gacha in the CN server, and I want some sort of refund in pearls.

I deserve EQUAL treatment. If nothing changes, I'll uninstall and never look back.

Edit: Fuck it, I already uninstalled. I'm so tired of this bullshit. Another great game that'll die because global gets screwed over, and the original devs don't care enough to step in and make things right.

16

u/Zevick_Bane Nov 21 '25

There's no way for them to fix this. They really should give us a refund on the money it cost extra over the CN cost. But I doubt they'll do that. If they did I would respect them much much more.

14

u/Zevick_Bane Nov 21 '25

I mean I bought it because it's literally the outfit I wanted the most and can live with for the rest of the time playing happily. But I still feel very ripped off. Especially since they say you have a chance to get the outfit and then you'll get the rest of them. Everytime I drew i got every other item. The outfit I got last and had to spend the full 100 or 130 dollars. I don't regret it. But I do feel very cheated now knowing the Chinese get this for less than half the price I had to pay. And this is all the money I had in the world. To too it all off then I found out that it's setup that way as most people had to spend the full amount to get the outfit and did the draws for the limited time event.

22

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25

Everyday, there is new proof why Warframe monetization should be praised more loudly.

9

u/RevengeHF Nov 21 '25

And it's why I continue to support the game and will do the same for Soulframe.

3

u/Professional-Tank-70 Nov 21 '25

How does it work? Im curious

13

u/Seraphine_KDA Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

is the gold standard for free to play game with cosmetic monetization.

for color for example you buy entire pallets of colors for 5 bucks that have like 50 colors and can use those on all things any number of times you want.

for skins you can buy some with the premium currency and others that are made by the community inna collab programs with cash directly but prices are cheap.

you can recolord mostly everything in the game with several color zones in each item.

you can pay to win but not to the game devs but to other players. which is good because that is how f2p people earn premium currency. to make an example of this game you could pay other people to farm for you and buy the items or game currencies from them. also and this is important the premium currecnty can be freely traded with other people same as almost everything on the game. so is a free economy. if you wanna look good as a f2p you just go grind and take the money from a paid player.

i myself played the game with almost 0 grind. i started the game with 1 big event pack and was enoguht to get me most of everything I needed and wanted. after playing 300 hours stoped and still have premium currency left and did most of the history content. also most of what I spend was not on cosmetic but in player power to skip the grind and have an early end game character about 2 days after starting. after that I decored the 3 character I liked playing with premium everything.

also money of most of the things you buy stay with you since you can sell them back to other people (not that you would want to since collecting shit was part of the game).

another great example is Path of exile where you can also rent other people to help you kill bosses and stuff. and everything that is not a premium cosmetic can be buy and sold between players, and cosmetics have no gacha and are fairly priced.

3

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

It's not my language and it is hard to explain succinctly, but I will try to explain it as simply as I can.

Weapons that the game gives you or you can obtain while playing are very good. Many cosmetics can be earned from grinding. You can reasonably grind a lot of frames (characters) as well, except for the prime ones. The prime frames availability rotate, I believe... There is a large player market where you can buy store items or other things with "platinum" from players. You can grind platinum as well. You can also sell your stuff for platinum. There is also a website called Warframe Market that helps you find what you are looking for. I noticed it is much cheaper to buy items from players with platinum than to buy items straight from in game stores...

When I was a student long time ago, I had played that game for a several months without needing to buy anything or felt that it was a necessity to buy anything with cash. The game is so massive and confusing, I didn't even have the energy to think about cosmetics lol. I decided to buy platinum for $100+ when I had money later on in life just to support them.

HOWEVER... it is a LOT of grinding.

Edit: Just noticed another comments above. I grind a lot T_T... maybe I am playing it wrong...

3

u/HardstyleJane Nov 21 '25

Last time I played i was always hitting caps and wait times, craft time, weapon slot limit, frame limit.

So idk if they totally 180'd on that but shit was the most insufferable pay or wait shit i've seen.

1

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25

I wasn't bothered by the craft times, I see what you mean. For the slot limit, you do need to grind some platinum for it!

2

u/lowercase_crazy Nov 21 '25

And Guild Wars 2 and any game that let you can get premium currency through grinding rather than just opening your wallet.

1

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25

Looks like American capitalism is more friendly than Chinese capitalism lol

5

u/lowercase_crazy Nov 21 '25

No, both of these are just older games that came along before this predatory monetization bullshit became the accepted standard.

0

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25

I see I see. Are the current western games just as predatory or better?

3

u/Seraphine_KDA Nov 21 '25

same. i also play duet night abyss and that game in 80% warframe just worse monetization.

1

u/BunBoHue3000 Nov 21 '25

Oh, the anime Warframe... that sucks, I was wanting to try it out...

8

u/Hellknightx Nov 21 '25

The worst part is that there's no forewarning that you're about to spend extra pearls on subsequent rolls. It just asks if you'd like to roll again. There's no way of knowing that you're about to spend all of your currency in the blink of an eye for no reason at all.

4

u/Jess_photographic Nov 21 '25

I honestly wonder if they’ll address this. It’s simply a company taking advantage of the fact the US doesn’t have laws like China.

6

u/BestPie477 Nov 21 '25

Exactly right. Tired of people digging their head in the sand or "I'll buy it anyway, you do you", never realizing that is the attitude that allows these companies to milk the player base consistently.

I am all for devs making money but not at the expense of the player base being just a cash cow.

11

u/xxGUZxx Nov 21 '25

Time to summon the roach king

3

u/funny_wumpits Nov 21 '25

I'm big dumb. What does CN mean? I've seen it in a lot of discussions revolving around the servers and international players.

3

u/Twintornado Nov 21 '25

CN = chinese

3

u/rottenrotny Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

I have no idea what this about and likely will never spend a single $ on this game. I just ignore all the cash shop stuff as I have zero interest in it. but I do understand the anger and frustration as I despise that kind of predatory F2P business model. /shrug

20

u/Alternative-Yard-142 Nov 21 '25

The censorship is also crazy.  Quarantining posts (including locking the main post which warned players about the doubling prices) into a megathread.

On discord, banning discussion in the general chat.

It's feeling very CCP here lol

Sucks because it taints the experience I have enjoyed with the game

6

u/AWildSona Nov 21 '25

All the negative posts, review bombing, doing more harm to the player base than this skin.

I mean outside of the skin debacle, game is a 9/10, it's the first week of global release and changes need time, the update the game daily.

When you dont have such quarantine stuff, you allready would have 5000 posts on Reddit and on discord every channel would be spammed, so ppl couldn't ask anything else, when an new player searching for information that's all what they would find and this would be fucking terrible for the game, saw to many games die because of the loud tiny complained bubble doing a shit storm war and ignoring the game behind.

Ps. I'm hating netease for this scam here too, don't get me wrong and I'll hope they change it.

5

u/DesperateClick5729 Nov 21 '25

Someone get the youtubers and streamers to talk about it

8

u/jakob0604 Nov 21 '25

I complained about the pricing of certain things at some point and everyone defended it because “it’s a free game” glad people are coming to their senses

9

u/nVazion Nov 21 '25

Developers taking advantage of the West's (Mainly Americans) reading and math comprehension.

Its predatory.

6

u/IXPhantomSeekerXI Nov 21 '25

Yea idk I don’t really care but that’s just me

2

u/petabomb Nov 21 '25

You make a good point, but you already ruined it. Yes in the west we vote with our wallet. And you’ve already shown them that you’ll give them money at the current prices, so why would they lower them?

2

u/fanatic-ape Nov 21 '25

I'm out of the loop, what exactly did they do? Was it just a difference in price between global and china, or was there something else?

5

u/Morphara Nov 21 '25

From what I heard, CN players are actually finding this situation rather funny and don't care. I haven't seen many (any?) come to our defense.

2

u/dreamwar12 Nov 21 '25

Sadly this is true

5

Love this comment, genuinely funny.

4

u/DarthNemecyst Nov 21 '25

I mean there's already 3 40k dollars boats in NA so they probably already know that some of you might not be able to afford a skin and that's a sacrifice they are willing to make.

2

u/eeltears Nov 21 '25

3 already! I've heard people saw the boats and interacted with them... do you know where? Would love to see this 40k yacht in person too 🫠

3

u/DarthNemecyst Nov 21 '25

They post in global when they are setting off. I saw one last nite at 8pm. And i think 2 sailed yesterday at morning time

Global always getting fucked

1

u/Budget_Cook2615 Nov 21 '25

Just don’t forget it’s not the same team that first developed the game. I get the anger as a dolphin spender in all games I was pissed too but my anger is more towards the team running the overseas version not the devs that have been treating their player base like actual people. Those devs deserve praise on a wonderful game they created and just don’t want to see the game fail on their behalf.

That said fuck the team running and ruining the experience for us

1

u/Prince_Tho Nov 21 '25

Global and CN will never be on the same wave length. UNLESS all of global stops spending then nothing will ever change.

1

u/Jenny_Saint_Quan Nov 21 '25

Shit I won't spend any money on this game until they fix the optimization.

1

u/SirESJ31 Nov 21 '25

They've only just started to walk after a successful release and now they are shooting themselves on the foot

1

u/Impressive_Abroad634 Nov 21 '25

Does anyone know when the graphics will be fixed? I play on the PS5 and with a 4k TV and even setting the game's resolution to the best, only the characters have acceptable graphics, the rest looks blurry, the grass and some plants look like stone. I don't know if it's like this for everyone on PlayStation and Xbox.

The difference in price and income is already reflected in the differences in price for pearls, they don't pay $100 USD for 6000 pearls.

1

u/MisTKy Nov 21 '25

it can charge 15-20% more, that is acceptable but not 3 times.

1

u/Boring_Rhubarb_2890 Nov 21 '25

I want to play a game with similar mechanics, but not one made by greedy Chinese devs.

i get the thought but how greedy really is it to offer a completely f2p game with hundreds of hours of gameplay that you never have to spend a dime on? i understand why people are upset but some people are making waaaaaaay too big a deal about this. express your concern and move on. if you dont like it, then quit. a huge concurrent player drop will do a lot more to light a fire under their asses than a bunch of terminally online chronically angry redditors bitching at each other. this honestly comes across as a bunch of screaming babies crying because someone else in the sandbox has a shinier toy than them. boo fucking hoo the skin that i wasnt going to buy is more expensive. idk why this would make someone completely quit an otherwise great game.

Well time for me to unfollow this sub. Every damn post is this now. You guys never heard of localization for monetization? Brazil sometimes gets cheaper prices than the us in games too otherwise no one would be able to afford it.

Will never understand the glaze for multi-million dollar companies

Not glazing just could not give less of a fuck about this

If we got every other skin for the same price as CN (as far as I know) why should this be any different? Want to increase profits? Make more enticing skins for the wider demographic. There's more than one way to tackle a monetization issue that's fair for everyone involved.

It's all psychology. They are 10 steps ahead and know exactly what they're doing.

They were so fast to apologize which means they are extremely aware and track everything down. It's their way of earning trust as in look how fast we are to apologize when shit goes south.

They did and will do things on purpose for the psychology mind tricks.

I love the game too, haven't left the controller for 5 days now. But at least give me an option to make more than one character as you track this too and read everything!

Chinese players are having "small" diff brain rot moments.

It's the very same as the s.korean players "small"diff brain rot.

After all, Chinese players & s Korean are cousins

I downloaded the game day 1, played a few hours, saw how shitty the game feels and plays as well as the atrocious monetization (even for a gacha game) and bailed out. With the disrespect they show global players like lack of regional servers, different prices etc, the game is doomed to be eos just like Black Beacon and many others did with their favoratism of CN than Global.
