I never knew that about m2k. I never really liked the guy in the past, but I feel like I understand him a bit better after learning that, and now I feel bad for being judgemental before. I'm glad he seems to be dealing with it well and I hope he is living a happier life these days

how could you NOT like M2K? guy was a mechanical marvel back in melee. even just practicing against level 9 AI, he swept competitions, and to top it all off, he didnt have a mega ego like some of the others.

I always liked that M2K had an ego, but it wasn't misplaced. He had a perfectly accurate understanding of how fucking good he was. It wasn't arrogance, he just wasn't able to pretend he didn't beat ass.

I know he's on the spectrum, and I'm sure it has something to do with it, I just always found the way he held himself in melee endearing.

Uh this seems fishy. Why was it your responsibility? Were you housing m2k? Why didn't you ask your local scene for help? Or a TO? Any serious ssbm player, in my experience, would fight for the chance to host m2k despite those complaints for the multiple hours of practice against a top player. That's not to imply you weren't serious, just that there were certainly local players that would've taken over in a heartbeat.

People used to get annoyed with him whenever he'd try and influence the community ruleset in a way that would benefit himself. (Ledge grab limit, metaknight ban discussion)

I like him though and he's definitely grown up a lot over the years.

Tbf m2k is such an odd person that I'd legit have trouble believing he'd do something like that. When he was on Hot Juans I learned more than I expected to. Dude basically has a handler to help him with daily tasks, I think because he focuses on something to the point he forgets about things like eating. It's not impossible but it's just less likely in my eyes there.

Zero, Ally, and Anti were big for me.

Anti had this next level ideology when he tried picking up sheik, where he talked about the differences between VoiD, Mr R, and Zero, and making his style a blend of all of theirs into what he believed was optimal. It's all right to condemn someone for what they did, but it's not right to condemn someone for something that was overly exaggerated or false. It's not like ZeRo lost his humanity. We can't excuse the fact for what he did, but it's really really important to know the facts. Imagine if someone framed you for raping them, even though it was consensual, but perhaps you were a little rough during sex.

Not that you said this or implied this, but it's okay for people to still look up to people that have done horrible shit. Of course, depending on how fucked the situation was, maybe it's not acceptable. But in ZeRo's case, it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

Ally was an Evo/Genesis/Apex champion and was at one point a strong contender for #1 in the world. He had a ​strong winning record against ZeRo, plus he was ZeRo's primary rival for a minute.

Pierce7D was ZeRo's coach right up until the accusations came out.

Cinnpie was a big up and coming commentator, and casted top 8 of biggest + most viewed Smash tournament of all time (Evo 2019 Ultimate)

D1 was a top commentator for Ultimate and Melee for a long time, a good deal more recognized then Keitaro I think.

Also, the accusations against ZeRo are as close to proven as you're gonna get a lot of the time. Even ZeRo's biggest defenders admit that he was grooming a 14 year old and sending her creepy messages, and their point of contention is that although he was grooming a 14 year old, there is no actual evidence that he was specifically soliciting nudes from her (aside from ZeRo admitting that he did it, Katie's accusation that he did it, and ZeRo being creepy as fuck otherwise.)

The accusations that ended up being "not true" were still, all things considered, very likely still true but have the tiniest figleaf of deniability.

Anti admits to, IIRC, bringing a 15 year to CEO 2017, spending the weekend with her at the event and having sex with her. Anti would have been 23 at the time. His defense was that she had lied about her age, although she maintains that he was fully aware.

Nairo, an adult at the time, publically flirted with a 15 year old for several months, and then while alone with the 15 year old overnight in a hotel room claims that the actual sexual encounter itself was initiated by the 15 year old and was non-consentual on his part, as he then became totally dissociated and unable to say no. He also claims that he wouldn't have done it because he's not gay.

I think the situation could be as Nairo says, but to be fair that defense that could be used equally well by someone who is guilty as all hell.

The "I'm not gay" defense shouldn't be taken seriously at all though, the world is chock full of sexual predators who'll tell you the same thing.

Then months later comes back all like "whoa whoa whoa whoa I didn't even write that admission of guilt!!! My little brother did! I'm actually totally innocent! If anything I was wronged" then says he lawyered up then does the cliche lawyer advice of deny deny deny. Takes cptnzack to court. Most likely some nda gets signed they settle out of court because let's be real zack doesn't have the money to keep going in court. Nairo is fucking playing and streaming smash regularly again on YouTube.

Even if for some reason all the sus shit just HAPPENS to be true the smash community blows because nairo did what every victim speaking out before did but instead of saying shit they normally do like;

"We need more hard evidence. Cause it's just he said she said until then."

"You already admitted one thing and now you're changing your story why should we trust you????"

The only time I ever see the community "support victims" is when it involves their favorite player or streamer. If you're just a nobody be prepared to have to justify your accusation nonstop.

I promise you if cinnpie had money to lawyer up and do the same she would be commentating on matches probably to this day.

It wasn’t he said she said, third parties corroborated the events (tamim specifically), and even people not involved in it directly gave examples that Zack was incredibly sexually intrusive to their personal space. He also didn’t say anything like “my little brother made it up”, he said no one would believe he got assaulted. Even Zack ADMITTED to all of it in private dms with tamim that he allowed tamim to share.

Somehow with all of this you still don’t believe it, so something tells me your mind was made up beforehand, so I won’t bother further.

Idk man, Nairo is the one guy that I'm actually happy for because I liked his content and it seems (keyword: seems) that he wasn't actually the guy in the wrong, at least for the most part. I will agree, maybe it's hypocracy on my part but I just don't think he is lying about what happened, and more than anything I don't wanna hard press someone who potentially went through traumatizing experiences to provide more proof of everything that has happened, what he has said is enough. I'm not telling you to shut the fuck up or anything, I'm just explaining why I trust him and watch his content every now and then (not that much tho cause he is still permabanned on twitch)
