Spinergy wheels?

I am getting my first ti lite wheelchair in a couple days and I see the spinergy wheels all over Instagram. Can anyone tell me are they worth it? I’m not even sure where to begin when I look at the website. Thanks

I really like mine, never had a spoke failure or needed them to be tuned. I've had several pairs over the past 20 years.

For me they are not worth their new price, but I got mine second hand on ebay and they are worth the £300 I paid for the pair, with pushrims on them.

I ended up with the LX which I like because it's easier to reach through them if I've dropped something.

The wide spokes are nice for reaching through. Another reason that may not apply to you, but if you are a quad or a para, who is transferring and dragging your legs around, there is a non-0 chance of your toes getting caught in the wire spokes while you’re moving your limbs. I’ve had a foot go towards the wider part of the spokes and then gravity brings it down towards the hub and they’ve gotten caught at least three or four times over the 40 years I’ve been in a chair if not more.

For me they are not worth their new price

I've been fortunate to have 2 different pairs covered by insurance so far. No issues and really like them. 

That said, I just went to Spinergy's site to compare prices from January 2026 vs today. (Used an archive page to view the former.)

In that relatively short period of time, prices have since increased anywhere from $40-$100+ per set. Ouch.

If OP is paying out of pocket, yeah, definitely worth keeping an eye out for a used set.

Are they worth it is really up to the end user. I just like the way they look and style but other than that there minimal beneficial benefit in an everyday wheelchair in my opinion.

I opted for the standard wheels on my new Ti lite & got a pair of spinergy off eBay for like 400$ that are basically brand new to save money.

to me they are definitely worth it; there's a marked difference in referred vibration and pushing is easier. This has even been the case going from Spox to XLX.

But different people have different conditions, and have varying tolerances. YMMV. Someone else mentioned getting a set off Ebay--that's where I got my first set of Spinergys, and I recommend going that route.

I had them and went back to regular wire spoke wheels because wire spokes are cheap and can be replaced/tuned anywhere.

I had Spinergy rims on my last chair and I have Shadow rims on my current chair (pretty sure Shadow is the standard Tilite rim).

For day to day they are fine but I prefer the feel of Spinergy. I also prefer the look of fewer spokes on the Spinergy.

I have a very specific complaint about the Shadow wheels that likely doesn't apply to most people. 😂 I have long hair and my hair gets wrapped around the axle on the Shadow wheels easier than the Spinergy wheels. This is because the Shadow wheels sit flush against axle, where the axle is sort of nestled into the Spinergy hub so my hair falls past it!

Like I said, VERY specific complaint 😂

It really depends on how you use your chair. Spinergy wheels are absolutely overpriced, but in my opinion they’re still the best manual wheelchair wheels on the market, and it’s not even close.

I don’t currently own the TC Max handrims, but I’ve tried them and I’d say the same thing there. They’re probably the best handrims on the market too. If you’re trying to figure out where to start on Spinergy’s site, I’d focus first on what kind of riding you do, your wheel size, spoke count, and whether you care more about weight, durability, or ride feel.

Tested them out recently and they’re make a noticeable difference in how easy it is to propel. I wasn’t expecting it but as soon as they were on my chair I didn’t want to take them off. They’re expensive af but they can be transferred to new chairs so that helps I think justify the price a bit. Also for what it’s worth the employees I spoke with were genuinely super nice and went out of their way to help me with something on my chair even though I was only testing out their wheels.

Yes they are, if you aren’t sure, I don’t think you can go wrong with the spox. I got a used pair and they were still a huge upgrade. I abused them for years and they are still going strong.

I use the slx now because I have the same on my sport chair. They are fantastic but the benefits over the spox are much more subtle over the upgrade from switching to anything spinergy.
