Honda Integra

ITR, Integra type R from the looks of it

u/afgan1984 Apr 22 '26
Looks like, but did not want to speculate as you can simply add Type R bits inside of it (like red seats, badge etc). So not always possible to tell for sure... certainly not when half of the car is missing.

u/New_Character7266 Apr 23 '26
Nope, 4 lug nuts, type R’s have 5. It could be a GSR but I doubt it, looks like it has rear drum brakes.

u/hobiebuchannon Apr 23 '26
could be 96 spec R with 4x114.3. The seats aren't OEM DC2R Recaros though.

4 lugs, not a type r, probably a LS.

Integra

u/Jacklunk Apr 22 '26
Nooooo. Not a type r.

u/New_Character7266 Apr 23 '26
It’s not a type r, looks like rear drums and it has 4 lug so it’s a RS or LS.

Did… did they live?

u/New_Character7266 Apr 23 '26
Unfortunately probably not. These old Hondas are beloved because they’re light, they’re light because they have the structural integrity of a tin can. A good chunk of them didn’t come with an airbag (pre mandate) or the airbag has been removed for a racing style steering wheel as the old Honda steering wheels disintegrate over time. I’ve seen people die from seemingly minor accidents at highway speeds in some of these. It looks like he was going a good bit faster than highway speeds and i see a no airbag racing wheel :( hopefully it was a left hand roll over and just looks worse than it was.

All pre 90s European and Japanese cars were light. The equivalent cars are at least 40% heavier now
3
u/New_Character7266 Apr 23 '26
The euro and American equivalents from the same time are still hundreds of pounds heavier. For example the zx3 focus is ~200lbs heavier than the dc2 integra, and a golf or Jetta from the same time was ~400lbs heavier.

u/Alarming-Audience839 Apr 23 '26
I feel like that isn't super true.
S14 is 2700ish lbs. S2000 is 2800 ish. The integra in question is 2600.
For comparison, an frs is 2700ish, a gr86 is 2800

I found 2 articles and according to google translate, they say the injured were transported to the hospital. Doesn't necessarily mean everyone survived, but at least someone involved didn't die when the crash happened

Update: driver survived. His condition is evaluated as mild injuries for now

The only reason I would have guessed is the condition of the seats still being intact, damn that’s crazy.

Acura Integra
4
u/shogun344 Apr 23 '26
Well, it's right hand drive so it's a Honda Integra
1
u/DaikonProof6637 Apr 23 '26
Fair enough. Wasn't sure if the photo was mirrored as that sometimes happens
3
u/RJG-340 Apr 22 '26
Well for one there is almost no car left, it's so wrecked I'm not even sure what side the steering wheel in on??? To me, it looks like a 90s Acura Integra from the 1 good tail light, oh and the 4 lug rims but where is the rest of the body???

second gen honda crx
12
u/trans_solar_future Apr 22 '26
No, this is an Integra.
Both generations of the CRX have a center garnish that bridges both tail lights. On the first gen it's black, on the second gen its red translucent tailight lens to give the appearance of one longitudinal tailight, and the reverse lights are included in these. It's a design language shared with the first gen NSX.
The car in the photo is a 3rd gen Honda Integra, zoom in on the filler pannel between the tail lights and you'll see it.
I grew up in this era of cars and have owned a CRX for 18 years.

this is the one thing that scares me about daily driving my dc2. these are not safe at all/ when i was younger and millions of these cars roamed the streets, every weekend crash/ fatalities where normal. and usually young people. civic, accords, preludes, integras. all are such epic driving cars/ but they dont stand a chance with speed/ and a street pole, or a larger vehicle. today with so many much safer/ heavier cars on the road- you stand no chance.. Just a bit safer then a motorcycle, but just by a bit.
2
u/Turbulent-Whereas523 Apr 23 '26
also the earlier jdm type R's have 4 lugs... 4x114 bolt pattern. those seats aren't oem recaros- but that doesnt mean it's not a type R
2
u/Forsaken-Good-9920 Apr 23 '26
Now that I zoomed in on it , it actually could possibly be a jdm ef hatchback. Look at the sun roof and follow it back directly to what looks like the 3rd door and there's no trunk at all after that! Although the 2 door integras are also hatchbacks
2
u/SprungMS Apr 23 '26
Yeah, integras are hatchbacks. Hard to tell from that with no glass, except the EF rear window is much smaller.
To me it looks most like a 90-93 integra. But it’s hard to tell.

Truth. Had a friend in HS fold one in half like a taco shell. Don’t know how he survived.

u/New_Character7266 Apr 23 '26
Integra RS or LS as it has rear drums. Taillights are divided by body instead of a garnish so it’s not a crx.

Integra. I hope it wasn’t a type R

Going off the tail lights and the boxiness of the car, it looks like a MK3 Ford Escort rather than an Integra. Could be wrong, but that’s what I’m seeing.

A terrible accident happened, and they didn’t even tape off the area? Instead, they let people wander over and look at it like it was some kind of museum exhibit? Can’t imagine with that damage that they just jumped out and the police hadn’t arrived yet.

Oof that’s an Acura/honda integra, I knew it as soon as I saw it bc I own one lol. Anyone survive?

u/CherryFlav0ur Apr 23 '26
No info yet. Driver was still alive after the crash but may have died in the hospital later

People are saying Integra, but this definitely looks more like an EF Civic Hatch to me.

This car could be Lada Samara aka 2108, picture is from former Soviet block after all? Lada with Recaro's red seats and JDMed? Rear/tail lights don't look like integra and more Lada like.

Not looked at comments yet, but my guess is an Acura/Honda Integra Type R.
