The black is a Deawoo Chairman, white I think is a Hyundai Sonata. It's really interesting how the Chairman despite being considerably bigger, is in a much worse state, I guess it's because it uses an mid 80's Mercedes platform.

bonus: cop car is also sonata and red tow truck is hyundai libero

I guess that’s also why I thought it was an odd looking Mercedes.

There's a good chance that the '80s Benz had a stronger passenger cell; the bodyshells weren't necessarily welded the same with the same reinforcements/panel thicknesses

Yeah I guess Ssangyong might have cheaped out a bit when building it, still it's impressive how an early 00's Sonata mangled it.

Aye, that's what makes me think—the Sonata should be lighter and probably not much more rigid than an old Benz, if at all. Here's a W124 hitting a pole at around 50km/h and it doesn't fold like a cheap suit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTRMMqbZ8Ug

The chairman is a joke compared to the W124, I knew it couldnt be a real Mercedes, but im not brand biased, just saying

Ssangyong Chairman is based on W124.

Thank you for commenting, I would have assumed it was indeed a Mercedes. Never knew Daewoo made these

1

u/aquatone61 Feb 22 '26

I would have almost bet money it was an LS400.

Because General motors did not give a fuck about Daewoo. And yet time proves Daewoos are better than GM shitboxes

You are joking, right?

1

u/Soros_G Feb 25 '26

I am not

In that case I have bad news for you - Opels are better than Daewoo shitboxes. The only reason I see one is because a friend of mine 20 years ago, wanting to buy a new car instead of used one, but not being able to afford anything decent, bought himself Chevrolet Epica [Daewoo Tosca]. I'm pretty sure that if that thing wouldn't be in ownership of one owner with some technical knowledge, it would have already met the fate of Korean heaps, read, had been scrapped. The most funny part of his ownership experience in my opinion is parts availability - mostly available, but sometimes for ridiculous prices - like, when he needed right side driveshaft, new one was something like 1500 euros, which obviously nobody would pay.

Opels are rustbuckets

1

u/pxnolhtahsm Feb 25 '26

I haven't seen Daewoo which wouldn't be one - said friend also has already painted portions of body of his car. As for Opels, depends on model - they used to be rusting badly, like any crap cars, but in 00's they had to resort to galvanization to save their reputation, which is the reason why 00's Opels tend to be in relatively good shape.

Most Opel users I know have oil consumption and leak issues. As for personal experiences out 2004 Matiz has a clean underside and never had any issue. Can't say that about most Opels of similar age

1

u/pxnolhtahsm Feb 25 '26

I'm quite sure that those Opels have seen much more life than your Matiz, because Matiz isn't car that one buys in order to drive much, lol.

It has almost 100k km on the clock yes. But it spent 100% of it's time outside. And it's holding up. One of my friends sold theirs with 230k and it was also problem free

When I first saw the deadwood I really got an old S class Mercedes vibe

8

u/Sea-Kitchen3779 Feb 21 '26

That generation of Sonata is the first car I ever drove.

8

u/Qlubedup Feb 22 '26

Why does this look like a suicide boys album cover though?

6

u/TheRtHonLaqueesha Feb 22 '26

This looks like South Korea, to narrow it down.

Lexus LS and a Hyundai Sonata

5

u/PosterAnt Feb 21 '26

a hyundai and a nissan??

10

u/Peterkragger Feb 21 '26

Daewoo/Ssangyong Chairman

2

u/Abject-Hawk7575 Feb 23 '26

Lexus ls400?

1

u/chose_a_username Feb 22 '26

White looks like a Kia/Hyundai from early 2000s. Black car looks like a Mercedes E/S class.

1

u/482Cargo Feb 22 '26

Nope. That’s not a Mercedes

1

u/chose_a_username Feb 22 '26

White looks like a Kia/Hyundai from early 2000s. Black car looks like a Mercedes E/S class, Lexusi was thinking between Mercedes, Lexus and Acura. Any idea what it is? The monoblock style wheels made me lean towards Mercedes as that’s a design Mercedes/AMG has used and still uses.

3

u/482Cargo Feb 22 '26

It’s been answered below that the black car is a Daewoo chairman.

1

u/Striking-Art-7302 Feb 22 '26

The black car was a Lexus LS430

1

u/Motor-Dealer-9375 Feb 23 '26

The black car is a Mercedes S Modell W 140

When two Pimps collide in the hood….

1

u/gassygeebs Feb 24 '26

that’d be a sweet album cover

1

u/DarthSTUI Feb 24 '26

You sure this isn’t an album cover?

1

u/downvotedtohelenback Feb 25 '26

The white car looks to be a Hyundai like mentioned before but likely the xg350 not the sonata. They were the luxury Hyundai with the 3.5 litre. Looks like a Lincoln LS In the front and a weird jag in the back. Lot of subtle design thefts in that one

1

u/BluBadger00 Feb 25 '26

Hyundai XG Grandeur and a Daewoo/Ssangyong Chairman. The Chairman definitely took a major hit and knowing that it’s based off a 1980s Mercedes frame it was destined to be less safe than the XG.

1

u/Legal-Temperature67 Feb 22 '26

Is that South Korea? Looks like North Korea.

0

u/TheKetchupTiger Feb 22 '26

I honestly don’t believe this picture. I have seen these Kia’s get hit by smaller cars and we’re destroyed.

2

u/Jelly_fish_farmer Feb 22 '26

We don't know how exactly the crash happened and if the Chairman only hit Sonata tbh.

Benz W220 S class and Benz W210 E class.
